Cultiva Review And Experience

Cultiva Review And Experience Nairobi Kenya

I recently shared a post about visiting Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and viewing the elephants at the nursery (you can read the full post here). Well, after that experience, we decided to head somewhere for lunch. We ended up at Cultiva because we had been meaning to go there for ages and it was very close to the National Park. You can read more about Cultiva on their site. And I decided to share my Cultiva review and experience with you guys.

Before I get into the review, just wanted to let you guys know that the video version of the review is also up now. If you’d like to watch it you can check it out:

The Ambiance

The ambiance was so lovely. It had such a chill, boho, artsy vibe.

The Food And Drinks

I don’t know how else to say it except this was the best food I’ve ever had in my life. If you’ve been following my blog for a while you know that I like to try new places to eat and new dishes often. I’ve come across some amazing places. But none of them even hold a candle to Cultiva. I think it was because a lot of the ingredients they use are farm to plate. They have a little farm at the back where they grow fresh veggies. It made the dishes taste so fresh and delicious.

We started out with some drinks although I decided not to get anything to drink. These days I avoid drinking with my meals. Anyway, I think they got the raspberry lemonade which they said was amazing.

We started with the Seitan “Not Chicken” Tacos which were incredible. They had used a Korean gochujang sauce for the seitan and it worked so perfectly with the coleslaw. The soft tortilla’s were made in store which made them taste even more fresh and delicious.

Next came the rest of the food, it seems like a daunting amount for three people but we hadn’t head anything all day so we were famished.

Vegan Vegetarian Options At Cultiva Nairobi Kenya

These are the garlic bread and loaded potato fries. The garlic bread was really good but I still prefer the one I had at Villa Rosa Kempinski a little more. The fries though, omg the fries. If you read my review posts on a regular basis you know I’ve had a lot of fries in my life. It’s rare for us to go to a restaurant and not get fries. I’ve had some amazing fries. But these fries, these fries were absolutely perfect. I still wake up in the middle of the night dreaming about them, craving them like a drug addict. I wish that was an exaggeration but I can’t even say it is. These fries healed something in me that no amount of therapy could.

The Fire Oven Capresse with sour dough bread was really yum too. The tomatoes and basil was so incredibly fresh.

Lastly we ended up getting the Margarita Pizza (cheese pizza) and it was good. Again, very fresh tasting ingredients.

Overall

I hope you enjoyed reading my Cultiva review and experience. I really like sharing these review/experience posts because I feel like we can share the memories virtually and I know someone of you enjoy reading about my life in Nairobi and the experiences I have here.

Overall, we truly enjoyed Cultiva and will be going back soon. They have a good variety of vegan and vegetarian options that taste amazing and are perfectly made/cooked. Although the price is slightly higher, I feel that it’s not bad for that area of Nairobi which tends to be much more on the expensive side. We spent about 3000 ksh per person (about $25 USD) which honestly isn’t bad for the amount of stuff we ordered.

  1. I loved the review, the prices are typical, same as in the US. The dishes look amazing, and you sound very content with it. I wish we had more places like that, I also loved your post about the elephants. Interesting stuff and nice pics, Pooja!

    1. Thank you. For Kenya it’s more on the expensive side but not so much so that it would be extreme. So glad you enjoyed it and may the next restaurant you visit be as good as this one was!

      1. I think I had quite an experience with a food truck selling burgers. I know, I know, it’s not what you think, it was something so amazing I have no words to describe. First I ordered a burger, not my go to food, but It was so good I had to drag my husband there, and that time I ordered tacos. After those tacos I can’t eat any other tacos, best food ever, hands down

        1. Wow, so glad you found a food place you like so much. Sometimes food trucks can be hidden gems. Hope you guys go there often.

          1. Nah, we have only been twice
But will be back for sure

  2. Wow, the food looks delish as does the decor, Pooja! I’d def try it if I were there. The link to the previous post isn’t there, just a heads up. 😊

    1. Thanks so much, oh those fries were literally life changing lol! 😜 Thank you! ☺️

  7. “this was the best food I’ve ever had in my life…” that is certainly high praise. You certainly had a great experience. It also looks like a really nice place from your photos.

The best food I had was at a restaurant in Bangalore, India, called chicken murg, or so I thought. When I later told my manager at Siemens about it, he was from Bangalore, he told me, no you did not have chicken murg. I was wondering, how can you know that? He said because I pretty sure you didn’t have chicken chicken. Murg in Hindi is chicken.

    1. Yeah, I’ve been to so many restaurants in Nairobi so saying this is the best one I’ve visited so far was the highest praise I could give it.

Interesting. My parents love food in Bangalore whenever they visit and apparently most people agree it has the best food in India. Yeah Murg means chicken but it could have been Murg Kari which is chicken curry. They may have called it Chicken Murg but meant Chicken (Murg).

  8. 🙏🌹

    Aum Shanti

  9. I love reading experiences of people especiallyavout food. The food looks delicious 😋

    1. Yeah, so far the food in Kenya is much more affordable then in the US or even Canada. We rarely ate out when living there. Most meals in an average priced restaurant in Nairobi would not cost more than $10-$15. Thankfully, Cultiva had lots of healthier options which was nice and since it was so fresh it was probably much healthier overall even including the fries. Glad your wife took up cooking, it’s such a necessary skill these days!

  11. That looks fab. You certainly have a great lifestyle Pooj!

    1. Thanks! Yeah, it was awesome!

  12. I like the ambience 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

    1. Thanks, it was really wonderful. And it’s located pretty far from the inner city so it was so quiet and peaceful too.

      1. That makes it even a much better place to visit.

  13. If you don’t mind me asking, what has led you to not drink while eating?

    1. I have a bit of acid reflux sometimes and according to Eastern medicine it’s best not to drink with meals especially cold drinks because it slows down digestion and worsens acid reflux. So I stopped doing that and actually haven’t had an acid reflux issue since.

      1. Good to hear. Yeah, I asked, because one of the bullet points in the 7th day adventist health message is not drinking during a meal.

        1. Very interesting. Is it for the same reason I mentioned with slowing down digestion or something else?

          1. Nope, for that same reason.
And I’m glad it is working out for you. Sometimes our bodies just need a little help 🙂

            1. Yup, absolutely and it’s important to listen when our bodies are telling us something is wrong.

  14. I love the decor, and the food looks appealing and sounds delicious. Thank you for sharing your detailed review, Pooja.

    1. Happy to share it! Yeah it was such a vibe. We loved it.

  15. Not sure what to say exactly. This is not related to the post, it’s something about my own mindset.
I always love watching well decorated food images. Other than it we shouldn’t miss any chance to not taste healthy and tasty food.
I agree to your experience that eating good food gives you much satisfaction, a sense of achievement and a proud attitude towards life.
It’s always good to hear from you, Pooja.🤎
Will learn a particular dish which I can share with the people around me.

    1. I know what you mean, the way a food looks makes a huge difference. As they say, we taste with our eyes first. Thanks so much and good luck with that 😊

  16. That restaurant is a vibe. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Definitely, thanks so much.

  17. “These fries healed something in me that no amount of therapy could.” HAHA! 🤣 I think those fries took you up into another dimension. That’s probably exactly what would happen to me too if I had some of those. Everything looks like it’s 20 out of 10 good! Lol!

    1. I think they did LOL! It was so delicious we loved it 😊
