Six Word Story:

The trees remember what you did.

About This Six Word Story:

Sharing a six word story after quite a while. This one randomly came to me while I was taking a break from blogging. And I had saved it hoping to post it later on. I was working on sharing another post today but it didn’t work out and I thought this SWS would be perfect to post instead.

What inspired the six word story? Well, I’m a big believer in that plants are more aware of their environment then we understand or realise. In Stoicism, we believe that our relationship with nature is an extremely important one. And nature plays a big role in defining the principles Stoics live by and take most seriously. I’ve always felt a connection to nature and fascination with how nature works, how our paths seem so random and yet so perfectly planned out.

I’ve been reading a lot more about plants, nature and how they connect with history which sounds like a random connection but it’s not when you think about it. And I think that’s what led me to this SWS.

What did you think of this six word story? What are your thoughts about nature and its role in our lives? Let me know in the comments below and feel free to share a SWS or some six word stories of your own in the comments as well!

I recently published my first book and would be very honoured if you took a minute to check it out here.

  1. Very much like a Jedi path.

    1. Yeah, great SWS.

    2. Help me Barneywan, you’re my only hope!

      😀

      1. Challenge accepted… Bridge on the River Kwai??? 🤔

        1. Seen it. Didn’t like it.

  2. Very cool. I like this story and its vibe.

    1. Thanks so much.

      1. Anytime friend. Appreciate ya 🙂

  3. The trees won’t leaf 🍃 you alone

    1. Haha exactly 🌳🍃

  4. Hold on, someone was hiding in the tree

    1. Loving the six word stories.

  5. The trees need affection as well, a hug. #TreeHug. I saw signs to hug a tree a few times visiting parks around my city. Not sure if it was a trend and gone now, but I must admit, I have hugged a tree or two, and they will remember.

    1. So true, apparently hugging them actually makes them grow better.

  6. Mother Nature keeps records of wrong.

    1. Yup, 100%. Great SWS.

      1. Thank you!

        1. You’re welcome!

  7. trees are amazing…when you learn that trees will actually interact with each other, they’ll support a tree that’s not doing so well for instance, makes that part of Lord of the Rings talking trees seem more realistic

    1. Yeah, it’s so fascinating. There are tribes that would yell at trees and it would affect the trees enough for them to eventually die.

  8. “To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow”

    Great post, thanks for sharing

    1. Fantastic quote, thanks for sharing it.

  9. And if they “talked” I’d listen even longer … Serene 6WS ~ <3

    1. Love that, thanks so much.

  10. Beware as I stretch my limbs

    1. I’m sure I’ve heard a tree or two say this 🌳

  11. Then they will clap their hands. –> Context: there was this church song that the kids always had to sing and the song made absolutely no sense. “The trees in the field will clap their hands…” I never understood that song. 😂

    1. Hmm that’s an interesting song, I wonder what that line means 🤔

  12. Trees can undergo epigenetic changes, where their genes are modified by environmental factors. Well I guess that is just one small part of “The trees remember what you did.” I think you are right “plants are more aware of their environment then we understand or realise.” When a tree gets cut down the other trees support new growth from the stump.

    1. Yeah I’ve read about that. I also read about how there was a tribe that would yell at trees instead of cutting them down because that would cause the tree to eventually die and fall over on its own.

  13. Oh yes, the trees are talking. If only we could listen better. Thanks for a great six word story, Pooja!

    1. Yup, definitely. Thank you!

  14. I’ve been having certain tensions philosophically in regards to our relationship with nature lately in my spare time. I’m pretty sure I was thinking about it this morning if I recall correctly! Lol! I’m intuitively on board with your idea. I definitely want to explore that even further when or if destiny compels that action.

    1. I get what you mean, I think one of the things that drew me more to Stoicism in comparison to other philosophies is that it takes ones relationship with nature seriously. Yeah, if you’re ever able to read up on that it would be so interesting. There’s so much we don’t know about plants and nature too. Look at us being on the same wave length haha!

      1. And you know what? That’s something that I really love and respect about Stoicism. When I think of something pure and wholesome, loving and respecting this whole entire place that our ancestors and us call home, gets right there at the heart of importance. That’s the kind of thing that I find to be so beautiful that it overwhelms my emotions in a good way. And all the more beautiful and complete if turned into action every moment.

And please feel free (not obligated, and no expectations for it. You’re a busy woman and I want to respect your time) to give me book recommendations anytime in relation to nature and it’s connection to history. Or hell, anything else for that matter! I don’t mind Lol!

I know right! Lol! I’m so grateful that we’re riding that wavelength. It lets us know you and I are not alone out here. 💖💗😀🤗

        1. Yeah, that’s exactly how I feel about Stoicism. It definitely encompasses what I take most seriously and what many of us feel most connected to.

Oh yes, sure! Two of my favourites that I’ve read so far are Ecological Imperialism and A Brief History Of Earth. Would definitely recommend both!

          Yup, definitely!! 🤗💕

          1. Yayyyy! Great! Thank you so much! You’re so kind! 🤗💕

            1. You’re most welcome! 🤗💕

  15. Lovely story Pooja

    1. Thanks so much.

      1. You’re very welcome

  16. 🙏🌹

    Aum Shanti

  17. I have the same observation that I spend more time with the nature than the humans; actually both.
Humans are chaotic trees are stable.

    1. Yeah and unlike humans trees don’t fight against their nature, they embrace it.

I like how you framed this — not just as a six word story, but as something rooted in your connection to nature and Stoicism. The idea that plants (and the natural world in general) are far more aware than we give them credit for is powerful, and it makes sense that such a perspective could condense into something so small yet resonant. I think that’s what makes six word stories so interesting: they can hold both mystery and meaning, like a seed with everything it needs already inside it. Nature reminds us that growth, resilience, and cycles are universal truths — maybe that’s why even a handful of words can carry such weight when they’re grounded in it.

    1. Thanks so much, I’m glad you enjoyed the post. I absolutely agree, there’s so much we can learn from nature.

  19. I think I remember that line for a movie somewhere…hahaha…it sounded familiar. But yeah, I love your six word stories Pooj! Please don’t ever stop writing them.

    1. My six worded story would most definitely be, “I am free to JUST BE”

      1. Love that SWS, so many of us crave that freedom.

    2. Ooh interesting and thank you so much, glad you enjoy the SWS!

  20. I like this, Pooja, and I think all nature remembers everything we do.
Nature is confused by our actions.

    1. I think so too and thanks so much.

      1. You’re welcome, Pooja.

  23. I fought for my space here (my SWS contribution.) I agree with you about nature and plants and trees. Their instinct is survival, and they will do what it takes to keep living.

    1. Love that six word story and glad you think so too. Yes, absolutely agree. Regardless of all else, their main objective is to survive.

      1. I have an old photo of a flower growing out of concrete. To quote a famous movie, “life finds a way.”

        1. I was just thinking of that and yes so true.

  24. I liked the SWS. I wasn’t aware that this belief was part of Stoicism, though I subscribe to the same idea about plants. Kind of cool!

    1. Glad you enjoyed it and yes Stoicism takes nature really seriously!

  25. I love it. It’s intriguing and pulls you in.

    1. Thank you so much.

  26. Uh oh, do they “know what I did last summer”? I might be in trouble 😉

    1. Lol yes, they know everything 😅

  27. Good people win

  28. I love this story, Pooja! I think the trees know more than we think they do. 🥰

    1. Thank you and I definitely think so too! 😊

  29. I’ve seen trees that have lived through the lives of several generations of people. For example, redwoods so tall that when they fall, you need to walk for awhile to get from the roots to the top. If they could talk, I’m sure they would have some amazing stories.

    1. Yup, absolutely. At our old place we had a tree nearby that was nearly 200 years old. I’m sure so much had happened around it.

      1. The redwoods on the west coast (Canada and USA) are apparently 300 to 1000 years old!

        1. That’s so impressive, wow!

  30. Oh no, now you tell me 🙂 All this while my secret activities among the trees I considered to be away from prying eyes and now I’ve been exposed.

    1. Yup, the trees definitely know (and sometimes gossip about it lol) 🙂

      1. Now you have me shaking in terror 🙂

  31. I hope the trees do not communicate long distance. Intriguing SWS.
Grateful ball joint broke at stop.

    1. Haha thankfully they only communicate locally. Oof that’s definitely lucky it was at a stop. Interesting SWS.

      1. I was very fortunate that I was just coming to a stop when the ball joint broke. Many years ago I had a similar incident happen on a different car.

  32. I like it and they are alive, so who knows. Plus, my mind of course takes it to a more spookier place lol.

    1. Haha yeah it would be a good start to a horror movie too.

  33. “A morning hike shares nature’s treasures.” I really need to schedule time at the two nature parks in my area. I haven’t been there for quite some time. Congratulations on the publishing of your book. My wife, Colleen, published her first book last month.

    1. Oh wow, congratulate her for me. That’s great. And lovely SWS, a reminder to us all to spend more time in nature.

  34. Nature is very healing ✨️ This 6 word story made me think of Twin Peaks for some reason, just the eerieness of it!

    1. Ooh I love Twin Peaks, thank you!

  35. Lovely story

    1. Thanks so much.

  36. Oh man, the stories they could tell! Perfectly done for the SWS! 💞💞💞

    1. Thank you! For real, could you imagine if trees could talk? 💕

      1. That would be simply amazing! 💞💞💞

  37. Six word stories can say plenty!

  38. Hi! It’s been a while pooG

    6 words

I feel nature always fight back

    1. I very much agree and yes it’s been too long!
