Norman Cousins Quote

Quote Of The Day

Norman Cousins Quote:

Norman Cousins Quote

What’s Up With Pooj?

This isn’t a particularly uplifting quote and maybe that’s why it resonated with me so strongly. I love the person I’m becoming, I’m more aware, have proper boundaries and am much more confident. However, I had to go through some of the worst pain and experiences to get here. And those experiences have killed parts of me that I will never get back. I guess that’s what I think of when I read this quote.

But I promise you, it’s not all doom and gloom. In fact, I still strongly believe this is going to be a good year for me. Ups and downs are inevitable and actually teach us many lessons. Downs will be there but I want to focus on the ups. Also, I think I’m just a bit more depressed because I’m having trouble sleeping and am also in my luteal phase.

In better news, I met my nephew for the first time which was pretty cool. He’s a very cute and calm baby. This is my first nephew so it’s exciting.

  1. The quote is very true Pooja, and I hope you have a fantastic 2026! Great song, take me back! ❤️🔥

    1. Thank you so much! I just started getting into Diana Ross’s music and love it 🥰❤️

      1. The Supremes were awesome! I’m from Michigan and grew up not far from Detroit where Motown was born. 😎

        1. So cool, Motown was such a huge part of the history of music!

          1. Ohhh yaaah! 🤙🏻❤️❤️❤️

  2. The quote is very true. And also very death positive. Having said this I hope we all live long and prosper despite the burning desire to die.
I’m listening to Franz Kafka’s audio books.
Last week we were getting ready for the launch of a new machine, today is the party with TV people invited as we are releasing a pickle ball matching. We are MaxBP, don’t Google it unless you wanna get spammed. LoL anyways, the party is today and we are expected to show up for the paparazzi. I even did my hair. So Pooj, wish me luck, not that I was anyone important…

    1. * pickle ball machine is not about pickles, it’s all about practicing the sport called pickle ball, it’s like tennis in a way

      1. Yeah, they have pickle ball here although I’ve never played it.

        1. It’s harder than it looks, or I’m not in a great shape lol

          1. I’ve heard it’s tough, like takes a lot of energy.

            1. Good workout though

    2. Never read anything by him but I have heard good things. Which of his books are you listening to at the moment?
Omg how exciting, good luck and hope it goes amazing.

      1. I have started listening to Amerika

  3. “However, I had to go through some of the worst pain and experiences to get here.” That line really resonated with me deeply. There couldn’t be a more true statement than that. But, I bet seeing your Nephew for the time really brought some temporary healing to the soul! How can we not see a baby and just instantly feel better!

    1. I think it’s something so many of us have experienced. It was, thank you so much! He’s such a cute baby!

  4. Pooja, I’m sorry that you’ve been going through a rough patch. It’s often not until afterwards…sometimes long afterwards… we can see in retrospect what had to die so that something else could live. I’m really enjoying your book… I’m spacing them out… and I hope this will be a great year for you 😎🙏❤️

    1. I agree, in retrospect I think these experiences and changes are necessary but in the moment they hurt a lot. Thank you, I’m so glad to hear that 😊❤️

  5. 🙏🌹

    1. Thank you so much and for you as well 😊

  8. We have to keep it alive!

    1. Yes or accept the change and do our best!

  9. I think that this is so true. Live while we are alive

    1. Yes, absolutely.

      1. 😍😍😍

  10. An interesting quote. A lot like. Stop worrying about adding years to your life. Start trying to add life to your years. 🤣😎🙃

    1. Yes, very similar- we need to focus on living life.

  11. It is a deep quote, what you are experiencing is life good and bad. Without all of it there is no life. I look at the quote a bit different too more toward old age, when you can’t change and live the way you want death is not the worst thing just another phase we all go through. It is better than sitting around with nothing but waiting.

    1. Yes, I think life is always filled with good and bad. We can’t escape the bad stuff no matter what. But at the same time the bad stuff does teach us a lot. That’s true, at a certain age I think people are ready to move on and being alive feels like suffering.

So glad that you are becoming the person you are meant to be. Moving forward and stronger and more aware. Also able to acknowledge that it cost you something at the same time.

    1. Thank you so much. I’m trying my best to deal with everything in a healthy way.

  13. I love the quote, Pooja, and so true! Fabulous selection of music, I love Diana Ross!

    1. Thank you! I am just now getting into her music and loving it so far 💕

      1. You’re welcome, Pooja.

  14. That’s exciting about your nephew congrats! And ya there can be lost of reason for optimism this year, I feel the same, hoping for the best for you, and all of us 🙂

    1. Thanks so much! I’m still staying hopeful, I think things can definitely pick up for all of us 🙂

  15. I like this one, to me it says that the biggest loss would be to not live your live and to leave things undone that you have the opportunity to (at least) try. Or to die with regrets of ‘things left on the table.’ Sadly, we all have those — whether we admit it or not. Very deep and thoughtful quote — thank you!

    1. Yes, that’s so true. I think it’s so important to live our life to the fullest while we can. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

  16. This quote highlights the fact that death doesn’t just mean loss of life but also loss of purpose and passion. The later is what we experience when we are still alive, which also means we can fix it.

I hope it’s not too late to say Happy New Year Pooja.

    1. Yes, I think that’s very right. Sometimes we lose ourselves and our purpose. And true, we have the ability to fix it.
Not at all, Happy New Year to you as well.

      1. Thank you Pooja.

        1. You’re most welcome.

  17. Yeah, me too. TRUST, for me, is almost gone, because of so many lies. But I’m still here and going forward to the next chapter. Still learning and unlearning.
Sounds like you’re doing good. Keep it up.

    1. I’ve been there and sorry you’re experiencing it too, it’s a very painful thing. Thanks so much.

  18. How wonderful Aunt P.J. 👶🏻🥰 That is a great quote. 👍🏻

    1. Thanks so much 😊

  19. The quotation does sound gloomy, doesn’t it? But it’s good teaching or at least good awareness. Things can die in life–ideals, faith, hope–and maybe we can look out for these deaths, then decide what to do with them. I hope you’re having a fine (wise) week.

    1. Yes, I think it’s gloomy but very true and a good lesson to learn. Thanks so much, hope you’re having a good week too.

  20. Great to hear the confidence, and that you’re giving yourself credit for hard-won growth!

    1. Thank you so much!

  21. I love the quote, Pooja and it’s soooo true!!! Not gloomy to me at all. It’s a reminder to live life and not let it pass us by. That is the sad part when we do. We learn, we grow, we let go and we move on and that is life where we wake up to what is important and what isn’t and grow! I love that you are loving the person you are becoming. Pain teaches us a lot. Congratulations on being an aunt and your wonderful nephew. Sooo awesome! xo

    1. Yes, I think that’s a part of life and it sucks but the pain helps us grow. Thanks so much!

  22. The quote reminds me of the Wayne Dyer quote “Don’t die with your music still in you.”

Things such as potatoes, carrots, lettuce, onions, celery and many others can be regrown from just a scrap. Our spirit is a similar kind of life force, so I never underestimate the power of someone to recover. (some people may be more veggie matter than others 🙂)

    Hope you get some rest.

    Congratulations on becoming an Aunt.

    1. That’s such a powerful quote. Yeah, as long as we’re still alive there’s always hope. Thanks so much.

  23. I love this quote and totally agree with it!

    1. Glad to hear that!

  24. Good quote and thanks for the Diana Ross memory.

    1. Happy to share it, thanks.

  25. That’s a great quote. We don’t need to worry about death; it’s just a normal life event that sooner or later will touch everyone. But living without enjoying the beauties that this wonderful world offers is a real tragedy.

    1. I totally agree, I think if we only focus on the negative we’re wasting our life away.

  26. That quote is so very true, Pooja! I think the saddest part is we don’t always notice when something inside us is dying…

    1. Yeah, sometimes we wake up and find pieces of ourself gone.

  27. Such a good quote, Pooja!

    1. It definitely is!
