How To Grow Your Blog In A Week

Introduction

It is absolutely possible to grow your blog over time but it is also just as possible to grow it in a couple of days. Even in a week, you could grow as many as a hundred followers depending on certain things. It’s not easy but it’s also not impossible.

As someone who has been blogging for a very long time and knows a thing or two about it, I get asked quite often by bloggers how they can grow their blog. Often times, their blog isn’t the issue. Their content is great but it is the external factors that are causing them to lose followers and traffic.

When I work with blogging clients to do redesigns etc, they’re often shocked by how few changes need to be made in order to get more traffic and followers. Even just editing posts to make them SEO friendly has gotten some of my clients a large increase in traffic and following.

On this post, I wanted to share some simple and effective ways to increase your traffic and consequently your following. Here are some tips:

Be As Active As Possible

The absolute best and fastest way to get more traffic and followers is to be as active as possible. I have discussed this in a lot of my posts so those of you who regularly read my advice posts can probably skip most of this since it is mostly for people who are new here.

Firstly, you need to be active on your own site. Make sure you are replying to comments in a friendly manner as this will encourage commenters to continue to come back to your site and leave more comments. Secondly, be active on other blogs. If someone leaves a comment on your site make sure you stop by their blog too and leave a positive comment. And if possible, try to stop by some blogs that don’t already follow you to help encourage new traffic and followers.

Another great way to be active on WordPress is to participate in collaborations. It’s a win-win for everyone because readers from your collaborators site will stop by your blog and vice versa. Guest posting can also really help boost both your traffic and following because you can specifically target an audience that is already interested in blogs and you can guest post on sites with similar content so you the readers will be much more likely to stop by your site too. If you are interested in guest posting on lifesfinewhine you can learn more about how to do that by checking out my services page by clicking here.

SEO Changes

Small SEO changes can make a huge difference. SEO is vital for sites especially if you are trying to grow your traffic and following. It can help draw in traffic from outside WordPress due to Search Engines and this can lead to an increase in email followers. If you are looking to make money online it’s also a great way for potential clients and sponsors to find your site. Making SEO changes can instantly increase your traffic and following- it won’t even take a whole week, you’ll see the improvement in just a day or two.

I won’t go into too much detail about how to make your site SEO friendly since I already have multiple posts that detail how to do that. You can check them out by clicking here. Making SEO changes can be time consuming and can be difficult if it’s new to you. If you would prefer someone to make those changes for you that already has experience with SEO I do offer multiple SEO services. Feel free to check them out by viewing my services page.

Use WordPress’s Features

WordPress offers a number of completely free features that you absolutely should be taking advantage of. For example, I have noticed that a lot of bloggers don’t use tags and categories especially when they first start out and that is a big mistake. Tags and categories are how the algorithm figures out what your post is about and what audience to push it to. Without tags and categories it will have no idea how to categorise your posts and what audience would be interested in it.

Another mistake when it comes to tags and categories is not doing enough research. Using tags and categories is really not enough. You need to be using keywords that are popular but not too popular to the extent where it’s too saturated because too many people are using it. You always want to use tags that are medium popular. You also want to use tags that are often searched for on Search Engines such as Google.

Using the right tags and categories can instantly boost your traffic and following because you will start targeting the right audience for your content as long as you use relevant tags and categories. It will also bring in traffic from Search Engines which is always great. You will notice improvement within a few days and by a week your stats should be noticeably better if you are doing everything correctly.

Other free features on WordPress include images and gifs. Search Engines love when you use these on posts and honestly so do a lot of readers. It keeps the post light especially for longer posts (like this one!). Since WordPress offers these for free, you should absolutely be using them.

Redesign Your Site

Giving your site/blog a quick upgrade can do wonders. A lot of things are constantly changing when it comes to blogging. For example, SEO and what is considered good SEO is constantly changing. The WordPress algorithm as well as other WordPress features are also changing all the time. Themes that were once user and reader friendly may no longer be supported by WordPress.

Switching things up every few months or at least once a year can really help you keep your blog user and reader friendly. Plus, Search Engines will see your blog/site as very active and this will help with SEO too. You can also do a bit of research on what is considered SEO friendly at the time and make changes accordingly. It can be somewhat time consuming but is really helpful for your site. A redesign is one of the quickest ways to improve your traffic and following and from personal experience it will improve your stats in a couple of days to a week since Search Engines take a few days to update their data.

If you feel like you are too busy to redesign your site or like tech stuff isn’t really your thing feel free to check out my services page where I offer both a full redesign as well as a more affordable mini redesign. Click here to view the services page.
