The Plan
It all started a few weeks back. It was the end of June and I was coming up with some goals for the second half of this year. I realised I had never been to a spa and really wanted to have that experience and added that as one of my goals. I talk about it a little more on this post. So, I decided to take you with me (visually) with this Serenity Spa review and experience.
My sister isn’t a fan of spas so I thought MistryLand and I could go on our own. She, however, had been insanely busy with med school until about two weeks ago when her finals finally ended. After the stress she had gone through and after all the stress I had been going through with working full-time for the first time, I thought a spa day would be amazing so I started searching for the best spa near us and ended up finding Serenity Spa.
They have two locations in Nairobi but we ended up going to the one in Kitisuru because it’s closest to us. We decided to go in the morning so that we could spend the whole say together and also because the package I had picked (the Rafiki Package) was for over two hours.
I ended up getting as ready as one can get when they are barely awake and we headed to the spa. Our Uber driver got a little lost so we were a couple of minutes late but they were super nice about it since it was just a minute or two.

The Vibe
As soon as we reached, I knew I had made the right decision picking this spa. It was located in a really beautiful area surrounded by plants and it had a very serene vibe. It was so peaceful and calm. We quickly went in so I didn’t have time for pictures, sorry!
We filled out some forms with our information since this was our first time there and soon we were off to our massages. Everyone was wearing a mask, including us since it’s their policy to wear masks indoors and I thought that was awesome for safety reasons.
We were then taken to a room where it would be just the two of us and the people giving us the massages, etc. That way we would have our privacy and could just talk and relax together in peace. This is what the room looked like:
The Massages
It started with a head, neck and shoulder massage for half an hour. First they gave us each a blanket and hot water bottle keep us cosy while we get the massage.
I don’t like people touching my hair and head so I told her to concentrate only on my neck and shoulders but from what I hear from Mistry, the head massage was incredible!
The neck and shoulder massages were fantastic too. I am one of those people who carries all their tension on their shoulders and it felt like 25 years of tension was melting away. My shoulders have also been in pain for a few years since I type a lot and read/write often. And carrying a heavy bad on my shoulders for most of my life didn’t help.
The massages really helped loosen my shoulders, get rid of the pain and helped me relax. It was honestly thirty minutes of pure bliss. And the message therapist was so great, she listened to me when I told her to decrease the pressure on my shoulders since they are sensitive and she did the massage perfectly.
I didn’t want to snap pictures in between the massage because I just wanted to be there in the moment and enjoy it but here is a before picture of me looking exhausted as can be and very ready for a massage:
The Pedicure
After the wonderful massage, they started on our pedicure. It was sooooo incredible! They started by soaking our feet in warm, scented water:
Next they disinfected them, massaged our feet and legs, rubbed the sole of our feet with a stone (I’m very ticklish so it took everything I had to not giggle), did a charcoal scrub, cut and shaped our nails, filled them and pretty much got them ready for the pedicure:
They started with a base coat, put on the nail polish once the base coat was dry and then put on a top coat once that was dry. Mistry and I had picked matching colours for our feet!
The Manicure
They started on our manicure while our feet were drying and as expected, it was just incredible! Unfortunately, one of my hands is messed up right now so I could only get the manicure on my left hand but it was still amazing! I had picked a deep blue colour and Mistry had picked a golden-ish/nude colour.
Just like with the pedicure, they gave our hands a lot of attention and a wonderful charcoal scrub. They started with a base coat, actual polish and top coat for the nail polish.
It was amazing and I love how they had shaped our nails, I’m awful at shaping nails so I was so impressed!
The Results
So, how did our manicure and pedicure turn out?
This was how our manicures turned out:

And this was our pedicures plus some cool slippers they gave us to wear till our nails were dry:
We have matching toes now! I’m the one in the lighter brown pants (left) and she’s the one in purple (right).
I also want to add that by the time you read this it will have been exactly two weeks since our spa day and neither of our nails have chipped at all which is very impressive!
Look For The Day
I noticed a couple of you liked it when I shared my makeup and outfit on the last post so I thought I would share my outfit today too:
Sweater: ROMWE
Trousers: ROMWE
Crop Top: Fashion Nova
Shoes: Nike
I know these are from fast fashion places but I bought them a while back before I got into sustainable fashion.
The End?
After we were done with everything, we decided to take some pictures outside while waiting for our ride since it was so beautiful and we hadn’t been able to do that before when we arrived.
Of course, Mistry was making me laugh too hard to take a lot of cute pictures:
And this is one of my favourite pictures because it’s the look of pure joy and bliss:
This may be the end of the post but it’s far from the end! We will most definitely be visiting Serenity Spa again. And it wasn’t the end of our day because we still have some more fun stuff we wanted to do. Can you guess what we did next?? Let me know in the comments below!
I’m so glad I could have this mini-adventure with one of the best people to have a spa day with! It was an amazing experience. And as for Serenity Spa, I would highly recommend it to anyone in Nairobi or near Nairobi. Yes, some of the services are pricey but I can say that they are worth it. Their service and quality is honestly impeccable and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect morning. For more about Serenity Spa please click here.
