Over The Horizon

Over The Horizon

Over the horizon

Hope awaits

Silently and peacefully

For both

You and I

Todays poem, Over The Horizon, was inspired by the Moonwashed Weekly Prompt. To be perfectly honest, I don’t think I have ever responded to a prompt like this one before. The truth is, I constantly see them all over WordPress. And I think they are a great starting point for many writers. However, I have never felt moved or inspired to create something using one of these prompts before. Which is a me thing, not a problem with the prompts. I don’t do well with prompts.

However, I have been in somewhat of a more optimistic mood lately. Not sure why exactly since my life has in many ways fallen apart in the last couple of days. Still, I am feeling good and I’m going to try to hold on to that feeling as long as I can. So, when I saw this prompt, I felt very inspired to write this poem. I think something about the word “horizon” (which was this weeks prompt) really stood out to me with where I am mentally right now.

I don’t think responding to prompts is going to become a common occurrence for this blog. But I very much enjoyed responding to this one. So maybe I’ll respond to prompts once in a while.

How have you been feeling lately? Are there moments in your life when you feel more optimistic than other times? Let me know your thoughts in the comments section located below. Or simply stop by and say hi!

  1. Hey so I switched from email to online notifications of new posts and received an alert in the Jetpack app! 🥳
I’m sorry to know things are unraveling for you though it’s good you are keeping optimistic. My optimism rises and falls sometimes, but I generally feel like an optimist.

    1. I’m so glad to hear that, at least the notifications on there seem to work 😊
Yeah, things have been a bit down this week but I’m trying to hold on to my optimism.

      1. Keep your head up! 😊

  2. I’ve never done a post in response to prompts, although I do read other bloggers’ responses to them. They are very popular and as you say, a great way to inspire a poem or a story. Thanks for sharing your poem!

    1. Yes, I think they’re a great starting point for many. Thank you!

  3. There have been ups and downs in my life recently, too. It’s hard to maintain the same mood/feeling for a long time. I’m trying to be more mindful of how I feel and what I need to honor my body and mind. When I’m down, I don’t let it occupy a giant space in my mind. I just observe my thoughts and stay curious (Mindfulness 101). It does the trick! What upsets me in the morning rarely stays as the day progresses. That’s the beauty of the mind!

    1. Exactly, it’s all about not letting the negative stuff take over your mind. It’s okay to have negative thoughts and emotions but it’s best not to let them control us.

    1. Thank you.

  4. Glad to know that you are feeling optimistic. Stay that way 🙂

About the prompt, yes it’s your first I think.

I personally don’t feel like participating in the prompts either. I haven’t found anything of my interest anyway.
Plus, I don’t randomly write about things. I need to feel connection with the topic and till now I haven’t found a connection.

Rn in my state cyclone has arrived ( or atleast effects of it), so yeah seeing the trees dancing. It may rain. Good thing is I still have sufficient weight to not taken away by cyclone 🌀😛

    1. Thanks 😊

Yes, I’ve heard there is really bad weather in India right now. My cousins are visiting (I know this is the worst season to visit but they had a wedding to attend) and were stuck for a bit. Lol don’t fly away 😅

      1. Why don’t you consider visiting India sometime?
Not inviting at this weather. But consider coming to wedding here….. Make sure to arrange fans meet and greet.

Hey buddy, keep holding, you got this.

        1. I really want to visit India but it’s not going to be possible at the moment. My mum isn’t so well so I can’t take long trips right now. But someday I want to visit for sure. Lol, if I do a meet and greet it’ll be empty 😅

          1. I would come

Would be great to learn thing from you.

Sending some positive vibes for aunty. I hope she feels better soon 🔆

            1. Thanks, much appreciated 😊

  5. Your poem inspires hope. We don’t know what the future holds, and in many ways that should excite us. Simply because something good will be a part of it all.

Lol I share your relationship with prompts, they personally remind me of my Literature Teacher in High School. Entirely unreasonable of me but still lol feels like its saying “here, time to think about this” — setting my tempo, you know …

    I don’t do well with those 😅

    1. Yes, that’s exactly it! It feels like those prompts we got in English Literature lol which is why I avoid them for the most part 😅

  6. Overall I’m doing good, yet lot of drama going down. Hope things improve for the both of us. Hang in there, friend.

    1. Thanks and hoping for that too. Hopefully we both get some more calm in our lives.

  7. I haven’t been able to respond to prompts or write according to a pre-arranged image or word limit etc. Please be strong. It is not easy to be a young woman nowadays. I hope you will be able to brave your way and continue to explore.

    1. Thanks so much, I am trying my best. Yes, it’s tough but I feel like young women right now still have it better than back in the day so I’m trying to be grateful for that. Although we do have a long way to go still.

  8. I believe so! Comforting message. ✨🌅✨

    1. Thanks so much! 😊

      1. Welcome! 🌻

  9. It’s wonderful how words inspire…
    beautifully expressed 🤍✨🤍

    1. Thank you so much and yeah some words just bring our something in us 😊

      1. Indeed… my pleasure, Pooja 🤍✨

  10. I recently did one post as a response to daily prompts and it was fun. Not doing it everyday but it’s a good alternative when one runs out of inspiration.

    1. Yeah, it’s fun to respond to prompts occasionally and some of the prompts can be quite inspiring.

  11. Actually I’ve been optimistic myself lately, I guess it’s just the fact that the introvert self that I have tried public speaking for the first time and got compliments rather than hate, anyway hope things work out well for you at the end, much love 🙂

    1. That’s great. I’m an introvert too but when I was in university we had to do presentations and seminars so I got used to public speaking and it really does boost ones mood to get compliments for our effort. Thank you 🙂

      1. Exactly, it’s always good to step out of your comfort zone and get appreciated for it! 🙂

  12. There is hope. The sun always shines after a storm. You hang on. ❤️☀️

    1. Thank you and yes things always get better 😊

  13. I like to think that this is true…

    1. One can only hope that it is.

  14. Horizon reminds me of that day when I went parasailing. Watching the horizon while lifted off from a motorboat, hanging in the air by a parachute, and looking at the curved blue and white rim as if the Earth is about to tip over was truly an unbelievable experience.

    1. Wow, parasailing sounds like such a wonderful experience. Definitely very memorable.

  15. Short and sweet.

    1. Thanks, hopefully that’s how people describe me as well 😅

      1. I would! 🫶🏼

        1. That’s so nice of you, thanks 💖

          1. You’re welcome

      2. Not the short part 😅🤣

        1. I’m pretty short so it would be accurate 😅

          1. Most people would like to be called petite, not short.

            1. I don’t mind either 🤭

              1. 💖❤️💖

  16. I’ve been feeling overwhelmed lately, with the things I need to get done and all. Besides that am good.

Am usually optimistic as long as I’ve had a good night’s sleep.😄

    1. I’m a bit stressed too and I’ve taken on more work this month. But it’s also not been too bad. Lol, sleep can really alter ones mood 😅

      1. Impacts of increased work load.😄
We shall thrive in this adulting thing.

        1. Haha yes we will 💪🏽

  17. “Lights always seem brighter after the dark”

Great take on the prompt, Pooja 👏

    1. Very true quote, thanks so much 😊

    1. Thank you!

  18. Poetic lines💖

    1. Thanks so much 😊

  19. Pooja, I’m sorry to hear life isn’t treating you well lately.

Your poem is lovely and calming, and hank you so much for joining my weekly prompt. I hope things improve for you. 💖

    1. It’s fine, things will get better. They always do 😁

Thank you so much for the wonderful prompt, I’m glad you enjoyed my response 😊

      1. My pleasure, Pooja!

  20. The poem is beautiful! I’m not a prompt person, but I enjoyed reading yours.

    1. Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!

  21. burned out
    cool when normally red hot
    i despise prompts
    i don t need them~

    1. Yeah, I generally am not a fan of prompts but loved this one.

      1. oooooooooh yeah! ohhhhhhhhhhhh yeah. da pooj!

  22. Oh no about the falling apart. Oh yes about the prompt submission. There are so many I want to join as well but I’m already glued to about 5 and it’s even hard to keep up with those sometimes, especially as my posting schedule maxes out at 3 a week.
If you do need help picking up some of those falling apart pieces, you have my ear at least.

    1. Thank you, I am mostly fine. These ups and downs are a part of life. And I appreciate that, I may just take you up on that offer at some point.
Yes, the prompts are a lot and doing too many can be very time consuming.

  23. Things have been going pretty smoothly for me. There’s always some stress with being on this side of the dirt. I am however positively pessimistic as far as a life philosophy goes. When things go badly I have the comfort of at least being right. If things go well I get to be pleasantly surprised. But I try to stay upbeat about it at any rate. Keep being awesome Dear.

    1. I’m the same way, an optimistic pessimist. I’m glad things are mostly good on your end and hope things continue to go smoothly for you.

  24. One thing I’m absolutely sure of; each day will be exactly the same as the one before it… Eat, sleep, repeat… I need to break the cycle. I know! I’ll Sleep, eat, repeat… Nice you’ve been in an optimistic mood! I put the site for prompts under ‘Blogging’ in my lists. Thanks for the tip!

    1. It’s easy to start having repetitive routine especially as an adult. But having some changes every couple of days does help make us feel better. Thanks!

  25. Thanks for the poem, opening new horizons, mastering new skills, opening your mind…

    1. Thank you and yes, positive things are always a nice change.

      1. only the lack of change is detrimental sometimes, stagnation is no good for anyone

        1. I agree, I always feel suffocated when things remain the same for too long. Even though I’m not always a huge fan of change.

  26. Great prompt to choose! Nice poem.

    1. Thanks so much!

      1. You’re welcome💖💖

  27. Nice poem.

Sometimes prompts can be a fun way to get the creative wheels turning.

    1. Thanks and yes sometimes they can really be inspiring.

  28. Your poem is beautiful and inspiring, Pooja. Thank you for the uplifting message, and I’m glad you’re feeling good, too. I don’t do prompts, either, but only because I’m too busy with other inspiration flowing frequently. 🙂 I enjoy reading the many takes on them though. 🤗

    1. Thank you so much, I wanted to share something more positive today and was happy the prompt came at the perfect time 🤗

  29. Nice inspirational poem. I rarely respond to the prompts unless it stands out to me. They are good to use when you can’t think of anything to write about. Thanks for sharing your poem with us. Have a great weekend.

    1. Thanks so much and it’s the same for me with the prompts. Have a great weekend too.

  30. Ohhh, this is a pretty poem! I like your optimism. 🙂

    1. Thanks so much!

  31. An amazing poem ✨

    1. Thank you 💖
