Memories Of Canada- Lavender Farm At Niagara On The Lake

Fall and winter were always my favourite seasons when living in Canada and therefore it’s generally this time of year I become more reminiscent of my time there. One memory I have been remembering these days is when we visited Neob Lavender Boutique. Neob is a lavender farm at Niagara On The Lake which was quite close to the city we lived in. My sister found the place and we thought we would stop by there since it looked fun. And it really was.

Unfortunately, we went when the lavender plants were almost done growing. I think it’s seasonal and is gone by the end of summer. We still had a great time exploring the farm though. They also had some sunflowers which had begun to dry out but were still beautiful. The weather was beautiful but also extremely hot and I was scared my sister was going to faint by the end of it lol. She was all red in the face and her eyes were watering because she’s a bit sensitive to sunlight. We still laugh about it. Although, I’m pretty sure she’s going to be mad at me when she reads this post. But oh well, I’m sure she’ll get over it soon enough.

  1. So beautifully written nice pictures

    1. Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed them.

  2. Awesome post, Pooja; like always😊🥰💟🌟🙏👌

    1. Thank you so much 😊

  3. You look beautiful, Pooja! 🥰❤️

    1. Thank you! ❤️😊

      1. ☺️🥰❤️

  4. Lavender is a favourite of mine. It’s fragrance brings memories. One of the best lavender smells was in the countryside of Brittany in the south of France. It is really picturesque. I remember reading the Carlos Castenada books and him talking about plant “allies”. I always like Lavender essential oil

    1. I absolutely love the fragrance too. It’s so lovely. Never been to France but that does sound amazing.

      1. I liken lavender to pistachio which is an icecream maker’s equivalent of All Along the Watchtower. That means if an essential oil maker is any good the baseline is lavender. I want to hear any musician cover All Along the Watchtower or another 3 chord Bob Dylan song 🎵 😅

        1. Haha so true, essential oils with lavender are always so amazing.

  5. Loved the post. Great pics. It brings back memories of time I spent at Niagara On The Lake one summer when I was very young.

    1. Thank you. Niagara On The Lake is lovely. We lived only one bus ride away from it so we visited often when weather permitted it.

  6. Very nice post. I liked the photos and lavender is a plant that I have many of in my yard. I like it because it is bee friendly and easy to care for. It does spread and need to be groomed though. It smells great when we do that by the way. Another plant you mentioned is the sunflower and I am sure that I have between 75 to 120 of those in my yards if you combined the front and back yards. Also a bee and bird plant that we enjoy. I also enjoy my two fruit trees and next year will be adding a peach tree in the back yard.

    1. Thank you so much. That’s so lovely. It’s great you’re growing so many bee/bird friendly plants and they’re both beautiful to look at too.

  7. Although we now live in Toronto, my wife is from Fort Erie and I am from Hamilton. We still have family down that way and we are very familiar with the Niagara region. We love Niagara on the Lake. It’s nice to hear about somebody who lives so far away but has been here and has such positive memories.

    1. Toronto is so fun too, so much to do there. That’s great. I think NOTL is one of those places that’s fun to visit often. Thanks so much.

  8. This place is my weekend getaway 2/4 times a month and I absolutely love it! Thanks for bringing the memories back to life. Can’t wait to get back there!!

    1. That’s awesome, it’s so lovely there! Glad you have good memories there too and hope you can go soon- I think mid to end of summer is best for that.

  9. Second pic was the first ever pic of you that I’ve seen

Or maybe something like that. Now I don’t remember. I remember it has sunflower in it. You also had the same pic on IG. I was wondering, she looks Indian.
I thought you are someone strict and less responsive, but also very pretty 😍

I texted you on IG, asked you 10-20 questions and you were super helpful.

I haven’t been to any such farm, maybe I should and see how I feel there.

I’m glad RG is safe, she’s amazing, kind and helpful 🙂

    1. Ooh, interesting. Lol, I don’t know why people think I’m not very friendly maybe it’s just my face 😅
Glad we connected though. It’s always nice to make new blogging friends. I’m not social in real life so I prefer online friends most of the time.

You should, farms are so fun. And there are lovely ones in India. I want to go to some when I am able to visit.

RG is great but not when the sun is out lol 😅

      1. I was nervous to talk to you at first.

I thought you’ll never reply, seeing the following and maybe consider me a spam.

I can now say after 2.5 years, you are the most friendliest and helpful blogger ever.

I think there’s an exhibition of flowers in my city. I’ll visit, but also I need to cautious, so far I’m not getting trouble with the allergy the season, but “nobody nose” what my nose hates 🤧

        1. Oh I see, yeah I’m quite friendly please pass that along to everyone haha 😅

Yeah be careful, flowers/pollen does cause a lot of allergies too.

          1. Yeah need to tell people that you are friendly 😅

            1. For real, people always assume I’m not idk why 🥹

              1. One possible reason for newbies to think that way is they see the massive following, and they see that you are a big deal.

I mean, there are some bloggers who have massive followings but are unresponsive.
No offense to you, people with such impact and following generally become arrogant. They are unapproachable and unhelpful.

You on the other hand are the sweetest and loveliest blogger over here.
I would say you are my first blogger friend.
I even tried to copy you in the start, haha

                1. Even in real life people think I’m mean. I think it’s just my face lol.
But I get what you mean, most people with large followings don’t care enough to interact much.
                  That’s sweet thanks 😊

                  1. I read somewhere that it’s a stigma that people who smile less are considered as arrogant.
However god knows who made that rule 🤷🏻‍♂️
Generally smiling is considered with how friendly that person is 🤷🏻‍♂️
Or talking less and being introvert is considered as arrogance 🤷🏻‍♂️
I mean, you can’t just tell everyone that hey I don’t like talking to you or I don’t want to talk to you 😂
For some reason person consider reticent as arrogance 🤦🏻‍♂️
Those people who are close to you, or know real you know how adorable you are ❤️

                    1. Thank you so much 😊

It’s true, when you’re quiet or introverted people assume you’re rude or something. So weird 🙄

      2. And what if you and RG are vampires?
She can’t tolerate sun and you are not ageing at all 🧛🏻‍♀️

        1. She’s not aging either so maybe… lol jk 😅🧛🏼‍♀️

  10. Simiane-la-Rotonde Lavender Farm in France is where Young Living grows all of their lavender for oils. It looks amazing and I’d love to see it someday!

    1. Wow, that’s so interesting! I think France is well known for its lavender farms.

  11. Adorable you! 🌻 Lavendar and sunflower fields make for a special fieldtrip. 😊

    1. Aw thanks and yes they do! 😊

  12. oh yes…a place called Naramata in BC, near Penticton. I was there to tack part in a triathlon, the day after we went for dinner and exploring, and found this farm…lavander, it was interesting. they had the two biggest calmest dogs I;d ever seen….they had these hge jaws, bread to be able to snap a bears neck….good thing they were good natured…but yeah, I’ll see if I can find pictures.

    1. Oh nice, what a lovely place to stumble across during your exploration. Larger dogs scare me a bit even when they’re good natured haha.

  13. Sequim, Washington, has an annual lavender festival. There’s not only lavender fields and distilled scents, but also lavender lemonade and other foods, including lavender cheesecake.

    1. Oh wow, that’s so interesting. I’ve heard lavender flavoured foods like ice cream are delicious but I’ve never tried it myself.

      1. The ice cream was good, except that, at that time, the participants also include the flowers in the food. Crunching on those is a weird experience.

        1. Oh yeah, that may be odd. But I’ve had rose petals and I liked them.

          1. Not as crunchy.

  14. I haven’t been to a lavender farm but a lot of lavender grows in gardens and city parks in BC, Canada.

    1. That’s really nice. I haven’t seen as much in Ontario except for the farms.

      1. You’ve seen more of Ontario than I have!

        1. Haha yes, five years of exploring and it was quite fun!

  15. No, but I have been to Niagara on the lake! I stayed for a week at the end of a 7 month round the world trip in Summer 2000. Loved it. We stayed with a French Canadian in his B&B near the lake. Very happy memories – thanks for the reminder.

    1. Oh wow, that’s lovely! That area is really beautiful especially in summer when all the plants are in full bloom. It’s really very picturesque.

  16. Well… Who is that?wow… well the post is worth reading and man those photos they are beautiful 10 out of 10.

    1. Thanks so much! I had a lovely time there and the pictures are taken by my sister.

      1. Well…good I have a brother too

        1. Oh nice, siblings can be annoying but they’re also the best lol.

  17. I remember how spectacular the falls are.

    1. Truly spectacular even during winter.

  18. A lovely memory Pooja.

    1. It really is, we had such a great day.

  19. Thanks for sharing this memory . It sounds like you and your sister had a lot of fun exploring the farm and taking in the beautiful scenery.

    1. Thanks so much. Yes, we had a really great time.

    1. Thanks. Yeah, it was amazing.

  20. Do you have a post outlining your various moves? Because going to and from Canada seems like a major life decision to me and I was curious how all of that came about.

I’m not much of a flower person and Mrs B is very sensitive to most flowers (I can’t buy her bouquets of any flower except carnations) so we have never done something like that. Probably never will given the limitations 😀

    1. I have some posts about my move from Kenya to Canada and some about my move back to Kenya but not really a category or anything. If you search “Kenya” and “Canada” on my sidebar you’ll find it.

Oh I see, yeah some people have very harsh allergies. Yeah, I think it’s best to stay away from flowers if she has a sensitivity to them.

      1. Thanks. I’ll investigate when I have time.

I learned it the hard way. Our first year as a married couple I got her a big bouquet of roses n mixed flowers. She was sneezing so bad we ended up having to throw them out that night. Thankfully we can laugh about it now 🙂

        1. Oh well, now it’s a funny memory to remember. At least now you know to never get her flowers lol.

  21. Wonderful memories of Canada! I had the pleasure a few years ago to go to this Neob Lavender Farm as well that you are writing about and it was beautiful. The smell was amazing! Lavender is one of my favorite flowers, which is why I wanted to go there. Thanks for the share and bringing up nice memories for me!

    1. That’s wonderful, it truly does smell incredible thanks to all the flowers! My pleasure, I’m glad my memories brought back memories for you too.

  22. Niagra On The Lak is a beautiful area. Not only lavander but wine grapes as well. 🤣😎🙃

    1. The wine is incredible, nothing like it!

  23. I live on a lavendar farm for all intents and purposes lol. There’s a forest across the street that is full of it.

    1. So lucky, I would love to live near lavender or a forest. Or both as you’re lucky enough to do.

      1. Unfortunately I have bad allergies so I don’t feel very lucky 😅

        1. Oh, the irony 🥲

  24. looks beautiful a place….
and you look lovely, Pooja. 🤍

    1. It really was gorgeous and thanks so much 😊

      1. always a pleasure 🤍

  25. Lovely post and photos, Pooja. I would love to visit a lavender farm just to experience the beautiful scent. ❤️

    1. Thanks so much. The fragrance is just incredible, the whole place smelled like lavender. I would so recommend going to one if you’re able to ❤️

      1. You most welcome, Pooja. ❤️

  26. the scenery is nice. The closest I been was Niagara falls itself, which isnt all that far from the flower farm

    1. Niagara Falls is so lovely too, we lived just a short drive away from it. I would recommend going to NOTL sometime too. It’s gorgeous in summer.

  27. Niagara-on-the-Lake is lovely. It’s been ages since we last visited. We didn’t go to the lavender farm, but we did get some icewine!

    Thanks for sparking some memories!

    1. I love ice wine, it’s so unique!

  28. Never been to a lavender farm, but I can just imagine the sweet smell.

    1. You could smell it before you even reached the farm and it was lovely.

  29. Despite living in Canada, I’ve never been there. Then again, it is a very big country! It sounds like a beautiful place and I enjoy lavender. Thank you for this post!

    1. I would so recommend it if you’re ever in Ontario, it’s gorgeous in the summer. My pleasure, thanks for reading!

      1. Thanks! So many wonderful travel ideas, and all this catch-up from three years of travel restrictions or problems.

        1. Absolutely, I’m trying to catch up too since I couldn’t travel for those few years.

          1. Hopefully things won’t get so bad again. 🛫🤞🏼🛫

            1. Hope so 🤞🏽

  30. Niagara Falls, is my wife’s favourite place to visit, and we drive through Niagara on the lake from time to time. Ontario’s scenery, she loves when we go for drives!

    1. That’s so nice. Ontario really is beautiful, I lived in the Niagara region for a few years and we loved it.

  31. I wish someday I could travel outside of India. There’s so much variety in India that exploring all of it will take time. 🙂
Lavendar Farm definitely seems like a beautiful place to visit.

    1. I hope so, it’s a beautiful world out there. But yes there’s so much beauty in India, I really want to visit some day.

  32. Very well put together.

    1. Thanks so much.

  33. Glad you had a good time. The pics are pretty too. The lavender in my yard didn’t grow well this year, I guess it was just too hot. We don’t have a place like that where I live, but I wish we did because I like going to places like that to experience new things like that. We have art museums here, and lots of other stuff. The zoo is being remodeled, and there will be new animals to enjoy. I haven’t been as of yet, but I can’t wait until it is finished so I can go and take some pictures to share with everyone. Well, thanks for sharing. Have a great week.

    1. Thanks so much. Sorry to hear that, yes they die if it’s too hot so that may be why. Yes, that sounds fun do share the pictures with us when you’re able to go. Have a great week too.

  34. I remember you posting about this I think. Lovely to return to the scent and photos of your wonderful time-;)
    💕🌈💕

    1. Yeah it was a while back and it was so lovely this brought back many good memories 😊

  35. I love visiting lavender and sunflower farms in the summer time. I haven’t been to that one though…..Beautiful post.

    1. Thanks so much. Yes, farms are most beautiful in summer.

  36. Beautiful 😍

    1. Thank you 😊

  37. Considering the sunflower seed saga, my mom’s convinced I’m the James Bond of allergic reactions – license to thrill in the emergency room! 😎 She’s got this intense tale from my baby years, where I sampled a seed and ended up in an unplanned hospital stay. Now, I’m standing at the snack crossroads, eyeing those sunflower seeds like a forbidden fruit.

I mean, come on, I could attempt a grand heist of one seed, but with a gazillion other munchies out there, why risk the “Mom told you so” victory dance? Life’s a buffet, and I’m not about to jeopardize my taste adventure for a tiny seed that comes with its very own medical drama series. 🌻✨

    1. Omg, wow you have to be super careful. Flower farms may not be the safest place for you 😅
