Six Word Story #206

Six Word Story:

Genial exterior even when in pain.

About This Six Word Story:

Genial- friendly and cheerful.

I thought it would be pronounced like denial and was so happy thinking I can finally finish that rap album I’ve been working on. But it’s pronounced more like cordial than denial. So I guess I’ll never drop that album lol.

I wasn’t sure what to post today and so I decided to share this SWs. It’s not that I’ve been particularly busy or anything but my brain has take some paid leave recently. So much so that I forgot to add pineapple to the pineapple fried rice I attempted to make today. It’s literally in the name y’all. And all while telling my mum I could totally be a chief and open up my own restaurant. Evidently, I very much over estimate my abilities. Although to be fair, the dish tasted amazing once the pineapple was added.

But enough about my initially pineapple free pineapple rice. The SWS was inspired by how many of us fake it even when we’re feeling down since it’s generally frowned upon to show negative emotions openly.

Are you familiar with the word genial or is it new to you? Have you ever used genial before in your writing? Let me know in the comments located below. And do share your own six word story or stories in the comments below using the word genial or one that goes with this theme. Or just share a totally random SWS because I always love reading them.

  1. I have never tried pineapple fried rice but sounds yum!

    1. It’s so good, would definitely recommend it!

  2. I’ve used the word Genial before, it’s not a common word in my dialect. Pineapple and rice? I have some rice in the kitchen… Oops.

    1. Yeah, I haven’t heard it used much. Maybe just once or twice. Pineapple rice is the way to go, such a great mix of savoury, sweet and sour 😋

  3. Love pineapple in anything. Genial is a familiar word and I first used in April A to Z challenge.

    1. Pineapple is so good. That’s so interesting, I guess it’s not used much except in prompts and stuff.

      1. It sure is I love the skewers with chicken and pineapple too.

        1. I’ve never had that but roasted pineapple does taste delicious so I imagine it goes well in skewers.

          1. I don’t know if you have the South African chain “Nandos “ there but they have grilled chicken and pineapple skewers.

            1. We do but unfortunately it’s very far from where I live. Nando’s is quite popular I think.

              1. Over here it is quite popular. One thing in its favor is that it is not on the boycott list of companies that are sending money or good to Israel.

                1. Oh that’s good. I’ve had to cut out multiple products I used to use because of that.

                  1. Same here. Only a few international chains are left that we patronize now.

                    1. Yeah, unsurprisingly many of those famous franchises are very unethical.

                    2. Very true. They are incurring heavy losses here but no change in their policy is forthcoming.

                    3. In Kenya too as the majority support Palestinians.

                    4. That’s good to know. 🥹

  4. probably, and thinking about it, I’ve at times been too genial for my own good….I wonder about that word’s origins?……I like learning about language and pronounciations as well….is it oregano, or is it, or – eeee – gan—oh?…..comedian actor Eddie Izzard does that a lot……..
I know it’s not six words, but I’m thinking about this more and more,
    ‘make today a memorable memory’……..

    1. Yes, pronunciations are so interesting and the origins of words too. Hope you’re feeling better now.

  5. I’ll trade Genial for Aisle Style.

    1. Haha good one.

  6. Pineapple on pizzas works for me.

Unleashed interior storms are volcanic souls.

    1. Same here, I like pineapple on pizza too. Really enjoyed that six word story too.

  7. Pineapple fried rice provokes genial smiles.

    1. Haha, true.

  8. It sound very much like a genie yal
The word is not new to be, but I’ve never used it .

PooG is a genial blogger 🤗

I swear you say this everytime, that you were not sure what to post today, yet you post something marvellous. That’s the quality of you a blogger.

I wasn’t able to focus on the article I was supposed to complete. For some reason I wasn’t getting the feels.
I tried gpt, made it write 5-6 paragraphs, but they were horrible. It then kindle the spark in me to write something. Then I started researching for it and prepared a mind map about it.

Why I’m telling you all this? Because you are my blogging buddy.
Btw my lengtiest article yet, got published yesterday, so I’m ecstatic. 😃

I was thinking about you (don’t worry in a sober manner), that how genial you are.

    1. Haha thanks. I just have a lot of practice with having nothing to post but wanting to post anyway 😅

Ooh nice, I’m excited to read it and good luck with writing the article. Sometimes we’re just not in the right mindset to write.

      1. It’s called weapon
You have a lot of weapons to use. You can always post about something or the other. For me it’s apparantly health stuff 😝

I love how with a simple idea like SWS you made something so creative and unique. SWS always rescue.

I’m working on something new rn.
Yes sometimes we don’t feel to write, I get clueless during suc times.

In other news kenya abolished visa requirements for India 😆
Maybe kenya wants indian to visit kenya
        Where’s massai mara?

        1. We all have our weapons 😅

Yes, of course we want Indians to visit Kenya considering they spend a lot of money here and it’s good for our economy lol jk 😆 Masai Mara is really nice, my cousins are going there in a few days. It’s a few hours drive from where I stay.

          1. Ohhh interesting!!

Let me keep that in my list to visit someday.

Tourist are always good for economy

            1. Masai Mara is okay but there are nicer places in Kenya if I’m being honest. Place where you can stand right next to the animals that are way cheaper.

              1. Ohhhh 😍
                Fasinating

  9. Under her genial exterior, his love bloomed like a hidden treasure.

Yearning to proclaim my feelings aloud, but the embarrassment wraps my words in a secret dance. Oh, the joys and quirks of a silent crush!

“Crush on sis’ friend, awkward charm.😳☺️🥺”

    1. Aw, that’s a nice SWS. Crushes remind me of high school and always having a crush on someone or the other lol 😂

      1. Stealthy crush vibes! 😄🕵️‍♂️Oh, the struggle is real🤭😳😚🤦🥺! If only invisibility were a thing, right? 🤣 I’ll just be over here perfecting my hide-and-seek skills for now. 🙈

        1. Lol, if only I sure could use invisibility sometimes 😅

          1. 🙈🙈No need for you to use invisibility , I will cover my eyes🙈🙈..😛🤭😜🥳

            1. That works too 😆

  10. I don’t make sophisticated content so I don’t use the word genial in English but I do like the word.

    1. That’s fair, yeah I like how it sounds.

      1. Also, for your rap career, denial rhymes with beguile, vile, trial, and mild. ☺️😏

        1. Yay, I can finally get that rap album done 😅

  11. This is so real! That’s true what you said about showing negative emotions being frowned upon, sadly. I’ve never used the word genial before, it’s my first time hearing it I think. 😮

Here’s my six word story with it: “he’s a genial man until midnight.” 👀 lol, idek! 😆 it’s harder to write these than i thought. Yours are always so good lol! ❤️

    1. Thank you! Yeah, it really sucks but most people feel uncomfortable when negative emotions are expressed so we often keep them to ourselves.

I like you six word story too haha, yeah they are kind of hard 😅 Thanks! 💕

  12. So how was the pineapple free pineapple rice?

    1. It was good but better when I added the pineapple after realising something was missing.

  13. I did not process it as genial at first. I cannot say that I have used it in my writing.

I finally wrote a new post, so that is some progress for me.

I think you could totally be a Chief Chef in the kitchen ;).

Hope you complete your rap album soon, can’t wait to hear it.

    1. I haven’t used the word either although I have read it before. Hearing how it’s actually pronounced made me realise I had been saying it wrong in my head lol.

Oh nice, I haven’t seen a new post from you in quite a while so I’m excited to read it.

Thanks, now I just need to find a restaurant to hire me and a music producer to make some beats…

  14. Never heard of that word before, but I have really been genial before. No one knows when I am in pain because I smile through it.

    1. I’m sorry to hear that and I can relate. Unfortunately, many of us keep the pain inside.

  15. Genie Al was sitting in his bottle waiting. He wished he was out. Hey Presto.

  16. Ohhh, I like pineapple free pineapple rice! A fun play on words and if you are the chef, you can make it whatever you want. 🙂

    1. Haha true, I can pretend it’s our speciality 😅

      1. You should! It’s a catchy and fun menu item.

  17. I don’t use genial in conversations, but I am quite familiar with the word and would definitely use it in my blogging or journaling.

I am not a fan of pineapple, not even pineapple flavoring. Well, I do like pineapple flavored icecream, but that is it…

    1. I’ve never used genial either in conversation or writing although I do remember reading it somewhere. I think it’s one of those words people don’t say much but is more often used in writing.

I’m the opposite, I love pineapple. I’ve never had pineapple ice cream but I have had a piña colada one and loved it.

  18. we no such inhibitons here
    the mantra is
    fuck you
    go to hell

    1. I need to adapt that mantra…

      1. oh timmy i go at it daily. bring me millk and snacks to eat. then the insults and curses. and i think gosh the kid really is a fuck face. lmao. on the other hand pooja you stand above the fracas. lmao

  19. Not feeling at all genial today.

    1. Sorry to hear that and hope you feel better tomorrow.

  20. So often we put on that act.

    1. Yes, it’s so sad but something we’ve all done/do.

  21. I’ve used the word genial before but rarely.

Pineapple delights sadly none in sight.

    💖

    1. Haha love that six word story, very relatable 😅

      1. Thank you, Pooja! 😁

        1. My pleasure!

  22. known but not as often used..

Pineapple fried rice…haven’t tried but sounds really nice.
    lovely SWS 👌

    1. Yes, I think it’s one of those words we know of but rarely use.

Pineapple rice is delicious, I would definitely recommend it. Thanks ☺️

      1. most welcome 🤍

  23. Pain behind the genial facade👍🏻

    1. Yes, indeed it’s that way for many 😞

  24. You’re right, we mask. Paint, Paste.

Genial a cheery word to use.

    1. Absolutely, most of us mask our true emotions which is sad. But a part of life. Especially as an adult.

  25. I’ve used congenial, which is similar in meaning. The English language is so weird. I’m amazed at you who learn it as a second language, because it often makes no sense.
There’s a comedian, Gallagher, who had a great bit on how that denial/genial thingy is so confusing. There’s another one, con-fusion – meaning, with fusion, or blurred.

    1. True, English language is very odd sometimes. But that also makes it fun to learn. I’ve heard of Gallagher, I’ll look up that bit- sounds funny. There are so many words like that and don’t even get me started on silent letters.

      1. His bit is “Gallagher explains pronunciation”. It’s on YouTube. So funny!

  26. Season’s Greetings Pooja. I found your story amusing and can readily identify with cooking faux pas, too. Just this morn, I flippin’ forgot to fry up my (December holidays only) bacon, which was supposed to accompany my made from scratch pancakes. Oh well, better luck next time, right? BTW, how about this six word story?

Consider conceivable, congenial genies’ genius genes!

    1. Seasons Greetings, hope the holiday season is treating you well. Oof, sorry to hear that. Sometimes our mind just takes a break and we end up forget the most obvious things. Maybe you can have some bacon for dinner, it’s never a bad time for breakfast foods. And great six word story, a very fun one!

      1. Yep, bacon isn’t just for breakfast. Glad my six word “lit” was likable.

  27. I had a similar cooking experience a few months ago, but I forget the exact details. Something like I had bought the ingredients to make a certain meal. One of the ingredients hid behind something else in my fridge. Days after I had made the meal and finished it, I found the last ingredient still there in the fridge.

    1. Yeah, that definitely happens sometimes. Being an adult is so odd because we sometimes forget the most obvious things and only remember when we see it.

  28. When someone else cooks, it seems what’s the big deal, but when we cook ourselves then we come to know how difficult cooking is.

    1. So true, it’s not until we do it ourselves that we realise how difficult it is.

  29. I’m learning how *not* to fake it, without just being a jerk. There are ways to be expressive, or expressive enough. This keeps me feeling more integrated – more myself.

    1. Yeah, it’s kind of hard to find that balance because you can come off as being a jerk to someone not used to your honest approach. I’ve been trying to be more expressive since I tend to mask a lot.

      1. Expressive is a great word.

  30. Also, I loved your use of genial in this story!

  31. I think we have to fake it many times rather than dump our woes on others 🙂

    1. Yes, unfortunately so.

  32. Unfortunately, we all do it sometimes. It’s life,

    1. Yup, unfortunately so.

  33. Sometimes only a select few can know your pain.
Also, I could use the recipe for that pineapple rice. 🥹😁

    1. The recipe I used except I made it vegan but you don’t need to do that: https://youtu.be/bqwIGQkecoc?si=GQoVSUIWxVZbBbYE

      1. Thanks, Pooj💗

        1. You’re very welcome ☺️

  34. I love anything with pineapple;))

    1. Same here, I love it.

  35. A martyr to their own self

    1. Aren’t we all.

  36. I love these vocabulary-expanding stories. I get to enjoy and learn simultaneously.

    “Intention: Genial smile
    Delivery: Taut grimace”

    1. So glad you’re enjoying them. I’ve been trying to learn new words and thought it would be fun to learn them here with everyone. Haha I really like that SWS. I tend to do that when I try to look friendly lol.

  37. Pain is a fact, Thrive anyway! 🤣😎🙃

    1. Yup, you just gotta work despite it!
