My Thoughts And Review Of Ariel’s Song By Dawn Pisturino
Unfortunately, I don’t spend too much time reading poetry books, even though when I do read one I always love it. That’s why I was extra thankful that I decided to read Ariel’s Song By Dawn Pisturino. She’s a fellow blogger on WordPress and I always enjoy her posts, as I am sure many of you do as well. However, reading a book written by someone is a very different experience than reading a post written by them.
As the Amazon summary explains, this collection of poems is filled with different styles, emotions and types of poems. Personally, I think there’s something in there for everyone. Some poems are darker, more emotional. While some are lighter and make you smile.
I was so impressed by how Dawn was able to play around with styles of poems over the years. I’m someone that sticks with what they understand and this was a good reminder to try something new too. This collection of poems was so well written and came from the heart.
The book isn’t too long at a bit over a hundred pages. And the good thing about poetry is that you can read some and go back to what you’re doing and come back to the poems again when you’re ready. It’s so refreshing to read a few poems when you have some free time every day. That’s what I did and it was so relaxing.
I’m not good at reviewing poetry books, as you can maybe tell. I do a much better job with novels. But don’t let that stop you from reading this book. Whether you’re a fan of poetry or not, I think you will very much enjoy Ariel’s Song. As I mentioned, there’s something in there for everyone.
And before I end this post, I want to share my favourite poem with you. It’s called Grief. It’s a darker poem but as you may know if you have read my writing before, I very much prefer darker themes. I won’t share the full poem, but rather my favourite lines:
Darkness falls,
Like the curtain of death,
Snuffing out the joy
Of your existence.
