Her heart yearns
For something more than this
Bound by the ordinary
She was anything but
Patiently waiting
For her prince
To come save her
The damsel sits
In her bedroom each night
Playing her violin
If only she had saved herself
She would already be free
About “A Silent Yearning”:
This poem is a response to fellow blogger, Kevin’s, No Theme Thursday prompt post for this week. He has some great picks this week but this image just stood out to me today. He has awesome NTT prompts every week, do check out his blog for more. I think he’s skipping NTT this week but he still has other awesome posts to read.
I think I barely posted this on time or maybe I was a little late, my apologies Kevin! But I really wanted to share this poem today. I loved this image as soon as I saw it, there was something beautiful yet sad about her. The poem is mainly about how so often we wait for the right person, thinking that they will make our lives better and save us from all our problems. When in reality, we can do that ourselves. Not always, but often.
Don’t get me wrong, the right person should improve your life. But no one can “save” you. Especially not from your fate. At least that’s what I think.
What did you think of “A Silent Yearning”? Do you believe in soulmates? Let me know in the comments below because I would absolutely love to hear from you. Or simply stop by and say hi.
