I stand here in the ruins
Of what was once a great civilisation
The Gods and Goddesses had blessed them with abundance
And yet they squandered it all away
They prayed and worshipped
Money and power
Destroyed everything they touched
Forgot about empathy and love
Traded all the beauty in the world for wealth
And when it all came crumbling down
Who did they blame but us Gods and Goddesses?
I stand here in the ruins
Of what was once a great civilisation
I know that we are not to blame
Only they are

About “The Ruins Of Civilisation?”:
The Ruins Of Civilisation is a response to fellow blogger, Kevin’s, No Theme Thursday prompt post for this week. He is currently taking a break from NTT but I’m not lol. I mean, he did say we can still share responses he’ll just share them on his blog when the break is over so don’t worry I’m not being annoying.
This poem is about fallen empires (like the one pictured) and those that will fall in the future. It’s interesting, humans blame everyone and everything but themselves for that. And yet, we’re almost always the problem.
The comments section of this post will be turned off. I’ve been busy unpacking recently and have not had time to respond to even earlier comments. I feel like I will be too overwhelmed if I keep the comments on with this post too. But I still wanted to share a post so here we are. I hope you enjoyed the poem!

Beautifully written, Pooja.
Thanks so much.
Well done, Pooja. Also, so true too of the greed of people. Given so much, and squander it all. 👏 👏 love what you did with this image 😊
Thanks so much 😊 Yes, it’s really the greedy people who ruin it for us all, at least in my opinion.
and how this tragedy plays out again and again on so many different stages!! Excellent Pooja!!
Yes, it’s like history always repeats itself and yet we never learn from it!
