My Thoughts On Square Peg In A Round Hole By Robbie Cheadle

Square Peg In A Round Hole By Robbie Cheadle Review

I have been reading so many poetry books this year, which I’m really happy about. I love poetry and feel like I don’t read enough. Thanks to that, I have had the privilege of reading so many unique styles of poetry and books with lots of different concepts and ideas. However, I have to say that Square Peg In A Round Hole By Robbie Cheadle has to be one of the most unique and inspired ideas for a poetry book that I have come across.

Like most writers, Robbie has multiple interests and she combined three of them for this book- poetry, art and photography. I very much enjoyed the artwork or photo that accompanied the poems and it really helped bring them to life.

For the poetry itself, I thought her writing was raw, honest, poignant, thoughtful and there were so many that I thought were relatable. My favourite types of poems are always shorter poems, I just feel like they hit harder. And that’s the kind of poems you will find in this book. Most poems are not very long but they are so incredibly well-written and those few lines still pack a punch. I felt myself strongly agreeing with so many of the thoughts she shared in her poems.

Overall, I so enjoyed this book. It was not only well written, it was well put together too. The poems and images/artwork really complimented one another. One of the best poetry books I’ve read this year.

Final Thoughts

I would so recommend Square Peg In A Round Hole by Robbie Cheadle to anyone that is a fan of poetry and/or photography/art. As I mentioned, I found this book to be a unique and immersive blend of the three.

I will leave you with my favourite poem from the book which I believe is so relevant in the fast paced life most of us experience:

  1. I loved this book as well. I loved the mix of poems, stories and art and the photos and since she is a naturalists I learned about nature too. The last part of the book was created by her son Michael Cheadle and it was beautiful as well.

I think you wrote a great and very helpful review.

    1. I’m glad you enjoyed the book as much as I did. Yes, they both did a wonderful job with the books. Thanks so much.

  2. YOLO I enjoy poetry yet I prefer the humorous aspect of it. Because the most serious things should be treated with a bit of humor in my opinion. Life is never black and white, might as well chuckle in the middle of a long lament, and joke while ranting about things that are really upsetting.

    1. That’s so true, it’s all about balance. We can’t be too serious or too unserious.
