My Weird Experience With The Flu

woman lying on bed while blowing her nose | My Weird Experience With The Flu

As I’m very certain most of my readers know, I’ve been trying to practice my Stoic beliefs more strictly recently and having the flu was an interesting experience because of that. Usually, I tend to feel really depressed when I’m not feeling well. But with Stoicism by my side I tried to remain more positive. Instead of spending my days feeling sorry for myself, I ended up doing a lot of Stoic readings and practices like meditation. I also tried to focus on the good in my life. Anyway, this was my weird experience with the flu and these were the biggest differences I noticed.

Faster Healing

Remaining more positive and upbeat seemed to help me heal faster. Now, I can’t say that was definitely the only thing that helped me. Because I was doing a bunch of other things like taking immunity boosting herbal medications and teas. And I was having a lot of vitamin C packed fruits. BUT, I do that every time I get sick so maybe the positive attitude did help because that was the only thing I did differently. Regardless of why, I am just thankful this flu wasn’t too bad. The last time I got sick made me reconsider ever leaving the house or being in contact with other human beings. So this was definitely a step up from that lol.

My Reward?

I don’t know if this was my reward from the universe for staying positive or if it was just a concoction of my flu riddled mind. But, I had this intense terrifying nightmare and I woke up thinking this is the perfect plot for my next book. How exciting is that! I never thought I would be one of those pretentious writers that are like “it came to me in a dream.” But this really did come to me in a dream. And let me tell you, I would never in a million years have thought of this plot while awake.

Final Thoughts

So, that was my weird experience with the flu. Oddly enough, I can say it was probably the best thing that has happened to me all year. I know that sounds kind of sad but I gotta keep it real. And now I’m prepared to be more optimistic the next time I get sick. Because of course there will be a next time lol.

Stephenie from Singing-Gecko shared this song with me the other day and I thought I would share it here. It really is a new day every single day and we get another opportunity to be better then we were the day before.

I recently published my first book and would be very honoured if you took a minute to check it out here.

      1. Excellent!

  4. attitude is (almost) everything – glad you’re feeling better, Linda xx

    1. So true, our attitude matters so much. Thanks ☺️

  5. Practicing positivity about life has a definite impact not only on health but general wellbeing and it even effects those you come in contact with each day.

    1. I couldn’t agree more, it really does impact us and those around us.

  6. Flu is probably the worst thing to happen to a person, but it does allow you to rest for a while

    1. Absolutely, it’s tough but gives us some time to relax.

  7. How absolutely cool, Pooja! I really think at times our subconscious has something juicy, but until we can deeply settle down (however that happens), the experience stays at the gates waiting. <3

Very inspiring! Interesting also, re your stoic mindset perhaps giving a bit of bounce. The world won't have to forego your company as you hide at home. Hah, that came across so funny, though I'm sure it wasn't fun!

    1. Definitely very cool! It was such a fascinating experience. Haha yes I don’t need to become a hermit after all 😅

      1. hehehe So funny, the stark choices sometimes, but it feels that way!

  8. Glad you are better. Positivity is good.

    1. Thanks so much. Yes, positivity is great for our health.

  9. Whoa, you had quite the flu journey! But I’m happy to hear that you’re feeling better. 💗 The dream part is so wild !! I also believe being positive and changing your mindset in non ideal situations can make such a difference. Even though it can be difficult to do so. 😅 Very interesting experience

    1. Yesss it was such a fascinating experience this time! Thank you so much and so true our mindset really does make a difference 💞😊

  10. Cheers to more awesome things happening to you this year, when something like this happens I know there is more in store. I was just being really happy lately so it may be contagious 🙂

    1. Thank you so much and I think so too, I feel this will be an eye opening year. That’s great, your happiness is contagious!

      1. Good, I was hoping it is

  11. In it too win it 😀 ~ Love your outlook and am beyond curious about this dream / nightmare!? Freaking awesome!! I <3 that song and singer!!! Stephanie is truly gifted and so are you … exciting times but wishing epiphanies or inspiration spring from happier and healthier means, of course that would impact us differently, and might change "destiny", the trajectory of wherever we are meant to be ~ Osm <3

    1. Yesss always! Hopefully I’ll be done with the book by next year and then I can share the dream 😊
Absolutely Stephenie is amazing and like you she shares the best songs! I’m happy with destiny as it is currently, I feel very prepared for whatever is to come 😌

    And gotta love some Nina!!

    1. Thank you! That’s so true, I think many are inspired by dreams especially vivid ones.

    1. Ah yes, Moulin Rouge is so good and so much truth in that line!

  16. Glad you are feeling better and that you got something positive out of the whole experience. I have had some really great song ideas come from dreams. More often though, they seem really good until I completely wake up, lol.

    1. Thanks so much. Haha that happens a lot, we think they’re the best ideas ever and then we reflect on them when we wake up and suddenly they’re not so great lol.

  17. “It came to me in a dream”

Oh Pooja, that is just great! I laughed when I read that sentence 🙂 I am glad you’re feeling better too and hope full recovery isn’t far off.

    1. Haha glad to hear you found that as amusing as I did 😄 Thanks so much, I’m sure I’ll be fine by the end of the week.

  18. Get well soon, get better. 💪🏼
Positive attitude helps us recover fast.

    1. Thanks so much and so true, our attitude makes everything better.

  19. I think when the body sets sick, it’s not a big deal, especially of its light issues like flu. It’s the way of purging things that are bad for its functioning. When we don’t pay attention by feeling like sh*t it accumulates and something terrible and bad happens… just like kidney problems, or heart issues, or even cancer..

I like your POV on the issue. Your body actually responded with fast recovery. Also loved how you used stoicism to perceive it, plus the dream you had, i think it was a vision. Most investors and philosophers get wisdoms from dreams and visions. I’m glad to hear you’re gonna make it a plot. Happy to see you’re becoming a better version of yourself.

    1. That’s so true, I was just saying that to a friend of mine. I think I’ve been through so much this year, this was my body getting rid of all that negativity.

Thank you so much. Yeah, it did feel so much like a vision actually. It was very vivid.

  20. I loveeeee when dreams influence our writing! 😀 sounds like you’ve got a good one! ✍️ I’m glad you’re feeling better and that the positivity helped 💕

    1. This was my first experience with it and I loved it! 😊 Thanks so much 💕

  21. down time is important too
    rest ez
    and heal well too

    1. Thanks so much, I so agree that down time is important.

      1. got up at two thirty am to walk and wash and then took a two hour nap. that s efficiency and down time too.

  22. Such an interesting share. I had a similar experience when I was visiting my sister in Norway for the very first time. The second day I got a fever, but the desire to be well and to get to know the country was stronger than the illness. At night the temperature shook me, and during the day my brain said – yes, I want to go around, I’m fine, let’s go for a tour. So I can freely say that my body listened to my brain, and that I was in a different location every day 🙂
In three days I was as good as new, which wouldn’t be the case at home, not to mention that I don’t go out when I’m sick, especially with a fever.
So there is some truth in that, that it’s all about mindset.

    1. Thanks so much. That’s so interesting, I think our mindset genuinely does make a difference. It’s so cool you had a very similar experience.

  23. Being positive sure can’t do any harm.

  24. Wow! Having the flu was like a new adventure, Pooja! Good things come when you least expect them. I’m glad you’re feeling better.

    1. It was, such a weirdly cool experience! Thanks so much.

      1. You’re welcome, Pooja.

  25. When I used to get really sick I’d just rest on the couch watching favorite movies and TV shows until I fell back asleep.

    1. I did pretty much the same for the first two days I was sick.

  26. Who knows, I might be really crazy. But I can almost definitively think there is something there with more positivity helping you get through it better. I’ve had that type of topic on my mind A LOT recently. So that’s just straight up awesome! Lol!!

    1. I think so too, I think my mindset and attitude really did make a difference. Ahh love that we’re thinking the same thing haha!

  27. Positivity…the cure for all 😊.

    1. Oh yes, definitely 😁

  28. Well, first – I’m glad you’re feeling better, Pooja. 😊And I love, love everything about dreams, so I totally believe that an idea pushed through and that you’re excited about it! Keep writing everything down, and more segments may come. 😊

    1. Thanks so much 😊 Yesss dreams are so fascinating and a cool way for our brain to talk to us (talk to itself?) 😊

      1. YES! Those brain pathways are incredible with sharing information both consciously and sub-consciously 24/7. It never sleeps, haha. 😊 Super cool, indeed.

        1. Haha yes it’s so fascinating! 😊

    1. Thanks so much.

    1. Thanks ☺️

  29. Fever dreams can be so vivid….I’m glad yours stuck with you long enough to be awake and inspired, Pooja! I look forward to hearing/reading more!
Glad you’re on the mend! 💞

    1. Yes, it was such a vivid experience and our mind works so differently during fever dreams. Thanks so much! 😊

  30. Glad you are feeling better and the flu did not keep you down too long

    1. Thanks, yeah I’m much better now.
