The Glorious Truth

The Glorious Truth

I have a very happy announcement today. I know, it’s shocking considering how awful this year has been with one thing after another. It’s been a while since I shared some good news lol. But every small win counts, at least that’s what I strongly believe. And today, I want to share The Glorious Truth. No, not that! The Glorious Truth is a short Flash Fiction story I wrote for Bunker Squirrel Magazine (I know, that’s the best name for a magazine ever lol!). I have been submitting to the magazine on and off since it’s started and Tori, the creator of the magazine, has been so incredibly supportive and kind.

The Glorious Truth is a short story about love, betrayal, pain and narcissistic abuse. It’s pretty dark, like most of my writing so if you’re triggered by darker content please don’t read it. If not, I would love for you to read it and come back here and tell me what you thought of it. You can find the story by clicking here or using this link: https://www.bunkersquirrel.com/glorious-truth.html

I really hope you enjoy it!

Once more, I would like to thank T. C. Westminster for including me in this month’s edition of Bunker Squirrel Magazine. And for being really sweet and supportive of my writing. She’s such a wonderful person. You can find her on Bluesky or you can check out her book here. It’s a fantastic psychological thriller with a unique premise that you’ll love.

I recently published my first book and would love it if you took a minute to check it out here.

  3. A great piece. Very well written, both hard hitting and sad, with that wonderful glimmer of hope. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Thank you so much. Glad you enjoyed it.

  4. I like the darker feel sometimes. It brings an edge and a truth that we just have to sink in and accept.

    1. Thank you, I’m a fan of the darker stuff too because it feels a lot more real.

  5. And now the woman in your story can love herself once again! Yay! I’m so glad you’re continuing to leave your mark on the world! It’s about freaking time you’ve got some great news! 💪😁

      1. I got the same message Pooja. Looks like they don’t want to let me in.

        1. Sorry to hear that, I’ll talk to Tori and see what the issue is.

  9. Short story but too much like some real relationship situations out there!

    1. Yes, unfortunately there’s a lot of toxic relationships out there!

      1. Yes, and I think your story described them.

  10. Congratulations🎉
    I liked the short story.🌷

    1. Thank you so much 😊

  11. It’s dark but very clever and I did not expect the ending. It is probably reality for many and I think the truth it reveals is important and should see the light. I think it is a great short story.

    1. Thank you so much. Yes, unfortunately I think many people deal with these sort of relationships.

  12. Nice story.

an all too real for some sadly…
    Congratulations, Pooja…🎉

    1. You know me well enough to know there’s always a twist 😅
Thank you so much, yes unfortunately a reality for many 😔

      1. always a pleasure…and thank you too, Pooja …🙏🤍🤗

  17. Congratulations, Pooja. Very dad reality for many, unfortunately.
    Short…buy very good. Well done.

    1. Thank you so much. Yes, unfortunately many experience these types of relationships in their lifetime.

  18. That’s great Pooj! Congratulations!

    1. Thank you!

  19. That’s a great story. I’m wondering how happy se would be that such a burden isn’t her problem anymore. I understand how some people can make you think so low of yourself until they finally exit your life with less drama- such a relief

    1. Thank you so much. Yes, she must feel very relieved to no longer have to deal with the abuse. It’s unfortunate but these things do happen often.

  20. I loved that you outsmarted him. I always love a ‘twist’, too. Methinks he will be none the wiser – leaving with his arrogance intact.

    1. Thank you! Agreed, I think he’s going to regret that decision but probably will still find a way to victimise himself as most narcissists do.

  21. Excellent story expressing the downside of real life and relationships. Love the finale, Pooja. Congratulations. 💕

    1. Thank you so much! 😊💗

  22. Congrats 🤣😎🙃

    1. Thank you ☺️

  23. Congratulations Pooja!
    I’m so happy for you.

    Very cool. Congratulations, Pooja!

    1. Thank you so much!

  25. Congratulations, Pooja! 💞💞💞 LOVED your story, and the twist! I’d never heard of that technique before, but I’ll bet its extremely effective against those type of personalities.
Tori really is amazing, isn’t she?

    1. Thank you! So glad you enjoyed the story, loved yours too 😊 Yess Tori is amazing! 💗

  26. Congratulations. That’s amazing. 🙂

    1. Thanks so much 🙂

  27. Huge Congratulations!!!!!!

    1. Thank you!!

  28. Cool story! Yes, grim, but an apt narrative regarding female freedom. And how to get freedom, get it back, from a narcissist. Congratulations on the story being published! And, yes, Squirrel Bunker is a great name. As is T. C. Westminster. As is Pooja.

    1. Thank you so much. I’m glad you liked the story and I’ve been reading a lot about narcissism which is what inspired it. Yes, both Bunker Squirrel and T. C. Westminster are great names- perfect for writers/writing.

  29. Loved the story. I have never heard the term grey rocking before.

    1. Thank you so much. It’s something I only recently learnt about too, I was doing a lot of reading and watching videos about narcissism which is how I came across the grey rocking technique.

      1. To be honest, I thought grey rocking was a dig at old people. Thank goodness for google lol.

        1. Lollll omg maybe next time I’ll add a fyi grey rocking isn’t a dig at anyone older 😅

  30. Excellent plot. Congratulations Pooja

    1. Thank you so much.

      1. You’re welcome

  31. I despise using this word, but this definitely ‘triggered’ me. I remember loving people that I no longer loved, with the residual love preventing me from ever being able to leave and the lack of love allowing me to attempt to manipulate them into leaving me.

Thank goodness we grow older and wiser. And thank you for making me feel.

    1. Unfortunately, I think quite a few of us have experienced that and it can be difficult to relive those memories. Yes, with experience and time we get wiser and know better. Thank you, I’m glad the story resonated.

  32. Wow – that’s some great writing, Pooja! Congratulations!

    1. Thank you so much!

  33. Congratulations, Pooja! Great story and loved the twist at the end. I’m sure it’s a sad reality for many. 💞

    1. Thank you! Yes, unfortunately so but I’m glad thanks to there being more information and awareness people can leave toxic partners instead of being gaslighted into staying.

  34. Oh I l loved the story! You nailed it and poof gone! Congratulations!🍾

    1. Thank you, so glad you loved it!! 😊💕

  35. Great piece 💯
    Well written ❤️

    1. Thanks so much 😊❤️

Thank you for sharing this, Pooja. It takes real courage to write stories that explore such raw and difficult emotions, especially those rooted in betrayal, pain, and the psychological complexity of abuse. Even in fiction, those truths carry weight—and the title feels especially powerful in that context.

I appreciate the content warning, and I admire how you’ve used storytelling to bring light to dark realities. Writing like this doesn’t just entertain—it helps others feel seen, especially those who’ve experienced similar struggles.

Congratulations on being published in Bunker Squirrel Magazine! That’s a beautiful achievement, and it’s well deserved. Looking forward to reading more of your work and the truths you continue to illuminate.

    1. Thank you so much. I wanted to share the story about narcissistic abuse since narcissistic behaviour is often difficult to pinpoint as abuse or to prove as abuse even though it very much is.

      Thank you!

  37. Congratulationssss!!!

    Chilling story🥶

    1. Thanks so much!

  38. Oh that’s really great, well written pooja

    1. Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it.

  39. Congratulations, Pooja! Nice story, my friend.

    1. Thank you so much!

  40. A person gets so busy in earning money that he does not give time to his family, that he should give time to his relationships and his work, if one does not give time to any one of them then there is a loss, for this reason husband and wife should understand each other and should make time for the other, to maintain balance in life both work and life are important

    1. True, some people don’t have a proper balance of life and work which can hinder relationships.

      1. Yes, work is important and family is also important in life but what will a person do with so much money? God has sent him empty handed, one day he will have to leave this world empty handed, for this he should enjoy his life to the fullest.

        1. Yes, definitely. We come empty handed and leave empty handed.
