Carol Burnett Quote #2

Quote Of The Day

Carol Burnett Quote:

Carol Burnett Quote

What’s Up With Pooj?

I wanted to share this Carol Burnett quote because I felt like I needed to hear it and thought someone else might feel the same way. I’ve been trying to continue editing my book but the self-sabotager in me doesn’t want to. It’s frustrating because these will be the final edits and a part of me wants to finish the manuscript so bad. But at the same time I can’t stop second guessing my writing skills, what if I don’t have what it takes to make it? This quote reminded me that I need to keep going in the right direction and stop sabotaging myself.

In other news, so many of the shows I love have ended this year or are cancelled which is annoying. You ended, The Righteous Gemstones ended, Poppa’s House got cancelled. I’m running out of stuff to watch, how am I going to eat my meals now? Sitting down peacefully on the dining table like a caveman? I think not lol. So if anyone has any TV show recommendations please leave them in the comments below- I love murder mysteries and thrillers most. Comedies are good too.

What I’m Listening To This Week:

What are your thoughts on this Carol Burnett quote? What are you listening to this week? How was the last week for you? Any plans for this week? Let me know in the comments because I would absolutely love to hear from you. Or simply stop by and say hi!

  1. Interesting quote, but I’ve known that for years. 🤣😎🙃

    1. Thanks and that’s cool, maybe I should have said a Mr. Ohh quote 😅

      1. ☺️☺️☺️❤️❤️

        1. ❤️😊🥰

  2. This is right on time!!!!! Thank you for sharing this❤️❤️❤️

    1. Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed the quote! ❤️

  3. I love this quote!

    1. Glad to hear that!

  4. Oh Pooj! If I were there I’d give you a big hug and tell yo that you CAN complete the manuscript! I don’t know what you have for TV reception.

    1. Aw thanks, that’s so sweet- I’ll count it as a virtual hug ❤️

  5. Pooj. As you well know, I can relate, really relate, to the struggles with the manuscript. It’s tough, battling not just the process of writing X words a day and shaping them into something readable, but also our self-doubts. But…I know you can do it, and I believe in you, just as you believe in me and my storytelling abilities. So…don’t you dare give up.

Billy Joel has been my favorite pop-rock act since I was in college, and I love “Piano Man”! (Now you got me wanting to listen to “Billy Joel: Greatest Hits, Vol. 1-2.” Thanks a lot…)

    1. Thanks so much. Yeah, I know you really get how I’ve been feeling and thanks for the encouraging words.

Ooh nice, I love Billy Joel too and this is totally your sign to listen to Billy Joel: Greatest Hits!

  6. Hi Pooja, the quote is good but it depends on the dream in my experience. Like my dreams from 25 years ago are so funny now, ridiculous… I can always come up with new ones just as ridiculous lol. I was listening to Huberman’s podcast, very interesting topics he raises. I am really happy with the insights they offer.
Last week was good, the weekend was great as we had an art class to teach and a beautiful hike to hike. The nature is at its prime these days.
I have a few recommendations if you can find those online, Anna Karenina and The Idiot, they are newer tv shows. Also, Master and Margarita is a good one I enjoyed. If you can stand the subtitles because not everyone is a fan of those

    1. That’s a very good point. Some dreams are silly and others we need to stick with.

That sounds lovely, yeah nature is beautiful in spring.

Those sound interesting, I’ll check them out. I don’t mind subtitles at all. I watch a lot of Korean dramas which have them too so I’m used to it.

      1. My new dream to go spend a few days in South Korea, it’s probably a silly one but I like it

        1. You never know, it could happen.

      2. My favorite Korean dramas are “The Extraordinary Attorney Woo” and “The Alchemy of Souls.”

        1. I haven’t watched “The Alchemy of Souls” yet, that sounds really good.

          1. Technically, in the story “the alchemy of souls” refers to a type of necromancy, but it also has such a strong romantic theme it could be read that way, too. Usually I don’t like romance stories where the semi-hero and anti-heroine argue a lot, but this story gives a good reason for these two flawed characters to work together.

  7. I’m so intrigued by your conflict over finishing your edits. With all the thought and consideration you’ve given it, I’m sure it will be great!
    –Scott

    1. Thank you so much, yeah I think maybe I just need a short break from writing!

  8. I hope you can do the edits on your manuscript Pooj! You was a good show!

    1. Thank you so much!

  9. Carol was a wonderful entertaining comedian and apparently a philosopyer too

    1. All great comedians are philosophers who learned the power of brevity.

    2. Yes, she was very entertaining and wise too.

  10. Good luck on your manuscript, hopefully you finish it soon

    1. Thank you, I hope so.

  11. I love Carol Burnett. Tim Conway was great on that show too. You caveman comment cracked me up. I will be thinking about that as I eat in quiet now.

    1. Haha nooo you’re going to eat quietly like a caveman?? Lol just kidding.

  12. Good luck with your manuscript! Quiet that voice of doubt and just push through. You’re doing better than you think you are!

For a good murder mystery recommendation (and if you have Peacock), I highly recommend Poker Face! It’s Columbo style (an old school rec), where you see the murder committed and you watch to figure out how our detective catches the killer. They’re both very good!

    1. I really hope they make a second season of “Poker Face.” However, the writers have been hired for the new “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” series, so I will have to be patient.

      1. There will be a second season of Poker Face! I’ve been seeing ads for it and I am so hyped! I think it starts around May 8th

        1. I saw those ads, too! I haven’t finished Andor, yet, but Poker Face is next in line.

  13. Study is something I did throughout my life, afterall. This quote is a good reminder.
I need to continue reading, learning, and exploring.

I’m not able to understand maximum relationships. It’s possible they don’t drive me. Or now everyone wants to see me as a professional and not just as a friend/son/brother.

I need some quiet time for myself.

    1. Hmm that can be frustrating when people don’t see us as we are but rather for what we do. Maybe talk to them about it, communicating openly helps.

  14. It’s funny, I thought Piano man was Elton John but it is Billy Joel. I’ve believed the wrong thing for decades. Anyway, that is a great quote. Sometimes you have to take a break, and you question yourself, loose your focus, but then you get going again. I wish you good luck with finishing your book.

    1. Maybe because of Elton John’s Rocken Man which has a similar name to Piano Man. And to be fair, Elton John plays a lot of piano so I get the misunderstanding. Thanks so much.

  15. Good quote
    🙏🌹👍

    Aum Shanti

    1. Glad you enjoyed it 🙏

      1. 🙏😉

        Aum Shanti

  16. A term I came up with as a professional editor is “editing fatigue” – when you’ve read the same paragraphs so many times that your brain doesn’t want to read them anymore. I find the best cure is to take a break and come back later.

    1. Sometimes I have written entire other novels to clear my head so I could back and edit the prior one.

    2. Yeah, I think that’s exactly what it is. My brain is sick of reading the same thing over and over again.

    3. I’ve experienced.
It happens because you are focusing on something else while reading not on the written text. It can be worry (generated by some life event/s).

      1. That’s happened to me as well!

    1. Yes, I think when we have a dream we have to stick with it even if it takes a while. Financial independence is difficult but it’s important. Relying on others is never a good idea.

      1. Very True☺️🙌

Ah yes, the ancient ritual of manuscript editing: equal parts caffeine, self-loathing, and pretending you “just need one more pass.” Carol Burnett says “never let go,” but she never had to delete 14,000 words because her characters started quoting Nietzsche.

Keep going. You’re nearly there. Or at least closer than when you started doom-scrolling your own drafts.

    1. Yeah, I should probably delete a thousand words from my WIP because of the repetitive whining.

    2. Yup, that’s the one. That ritual is getting tiring. Thanks so much.

  19. I use qBittorrent to download TV shows and films. In order to get new ideas, I do various searches for titles e.g. “top tv shows 2025”, or, ”best films” by genre. Rotten Tomatoes is quite good for ideas and reviews.

I bought your book a few days ago, which I think is very good, so I wrote a review on my blog. I promote books written by bloggers, but I don’t usually read, or review them. I was very impressed. Well done, Pooja.

    1. I’ll try some searches and see if I find any shows that appeal to me.

Thank you, I really do appreciate your support of my book as well as your kind words.

  20. This is why I like my ereader. I can eat and read all at the same time 😀
    ps,
this might be a double comment. My internet connection is acting up this morning.

    1. Hmm maybe I should get an e-Reader… Don’t worry it’s just the one comment.

      1. I find an ereader to be much better than a phone. It is meant ONLY to be read on, so that’s good to help me focus…

        1. Yeah, I get distracted easily as well so I can definitely see how that would help.

  21. I understand your struggles with the edits in your manuscript. Writers have so much to deal with, and it can all be very overwhelming. I hope you manage to keep going, doing it in small increments, and being kind to yourself along the way. 😊💜💐

    1. Most writers write precisely because their imagination and emotions can be overwhelming. Art is one of the best ways to deal with the struggle.

    2. Absolutely, I think that’s the main reason for the writers block. Now that I’m almost done it’s all so overwhelming. Thank you so much, I was able to do some editing today which I’m happy about 😊💗

  22. Love the quote and spot on. I would put the book aside for a day or two and come back to it, when your mind and eyes are refreshed. We have Peacock which offers a variety of shows to watch. Good luck!

    1. Glad you enjoyed the quote. I ended up taking a break but then I suddenly felt like editing and have been doing that for the last two days. Oh I love Peacock shows. Do you have any favourites? Thanks!

      1. That’s great that you’re editing. No favorites, just what we’re in the mood for.

        1. Ooh okay, got it. Thanks so much.

          1. You’re welcome, Pooja.

  23. I hope you’ll persevere and finish the editing. Imagine the relief you’ll feel after getting it done.

    1. Thanks so much, I was able to do some editing last night and today which was great.

      1. Awesome 👏🏼

  24. I just finished a binge watch of “The Good Place,” with Ted Danson (Cheers) and Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars). It’s the only sitcom I always watch straight through instead of skipping to my favorite episodes. It’s about a bunch of ethically challenged people learning to be good while in a rather goofy afterlife.

    1. I’ve seen The Good Place when it first came out and then again last year, it’s a great show. We really enjoyed it even when we rewatched.

  25. Carol Burnett is a treasure. Love her quote.and your post. BTW she celebrated her 92nd Birthday this April 26th!

    1. Oh wow, that’s interesting I didn’t know that!

  26. Wow! Now you’re even getting your shows taken away from you. 2025 is just being so nice am I right? 🙄😂 But seriously though, you already know you’ve got this! I appreciate the fact that you’re making the process feel very human by showing us all the doubts and waves of emotions that you’re experiencing through it. That alone is quite encouraging! So yeah, you’re going to kick ass no doubt! 💪

    1. Lol ikr what a year 😅 Thank you so much, glad to share the downs with the ups. It’s all about keeping it real 😜

      1. You freaking bet! 😜😁

  27. What a gal Carol Burnett was! Great quote, and I hope you’ll take it to heart! 🙂

    1. Absolutely and thanks, I did some editing today which felt good 🙂

  28. It’s going to happen, Pooja. You have already put in the work to ensure that. That tiny voice may win an hour or maybe one day, but you were meant to get this done and move to publishing it; which you will. 100%. The closer you get (even in increments) the weaker the voice becomes.

    1. Thank you so much for saying that, I needed to hear it ❤️

      1. I’m glad, and I meant it. 😊❤️

  29. I’ve had a hard time settling down enough for WP during last weeks before big change, but you might be amused to know I had a great dream where you figured as a wise person I sat down on a bench to consult with for a while. 🙂

As frustrating as it can be to want to move forward, it’s also a little comforting that our minds don’t always let us run them in a linear and sensible way. It’s like “Okay but first I’m going to have a little play.”

I know you’ll be back on track sooner than it feels. <3

    1. Oh wow, that’s such an interesting dream 🙂

Haha yes, our mind is so odd like that. Sometimes I feel like it likes to mess with us for fun.

Thank you and hope all is going well with your move! Did you figure out how to transport your dog?

      1. We’ve been training George to be in the small carrier. He’s the right weight, but a little long, so we are hoping not to have issues, but it’s not certain. We’re being strategic about when we fly also, so he can have a break and travel the longest stretch when he’d normally be sleeping.

Yesterday by coincidence, I took middle child to the airport and was in the check-in line right behind a woman checking in a dachshund! What are the chances?! The thing is, that dog was so much better behaved than George, and smaller. Still, it gave me a good visual for how everything will go.

        <3

        1. Oh okay, well hopefully all goes well. That’s a good idea that way he’s asleep for most of it.

Omg that’s such a crazy coincidence!

  30. Love the quote and have no recommendations to share since I typically read while I eat, lol.
Best of luck on the edit project, Pooja….I tend to play the timer game when I have to get something done I’m not wanting to. Set the timer (usually 15 minutes or a 1/2 hour) do “the thing” and when the timer rings, no matter where I’m at I can stop. Reset the timer, “play” for the same amount of time and repeat until the day or “the thing” is done. It’s amazing how much you can get done this way!

    1. I used to always read while eating but lost the habit somewhere along the way. Maybe this is a sign to get back into it.
Thanks so much. Hmm that would be good because it decreases the pressure a little. Will give that method a try although I ended up editing quite a bit today which I’m happy about!

      1. Well yay on progress! 💞💞💞

  31. Nice quote 🌸

    1. Thank you 🙏

  32. So true indeed!

    1. Thank you! And apologies for the late reply, your comment was stuck in my spam folder.

  33. Such a true quote! ✨️ Have you seen The Midnight Club? 🍿

    1. Thank you! I haven’t but I just Googled it and it looks like something I would really enjoy. Thank you for the recommendation!

      1. It’s brilliant, something to really get into and the atmosphere of it is incredible. I hope you enjoy it! 💗

        1. I’m sure I will, I’ll start watching it tonight 😊

  34. Carol Burnett’s right. Those dreams latch on to us and don’t let go until we respond to them.

    1. Yeah, I absolutely think so too.
