What’s Up With Pooja:

Hmm, what is up with me? Well, a couple of things. I spent like two hours chatting with DentMistry so I am very happy about that. It’s always nice to catch up after a long time.

Other than that, my mum and I have decided to go on a diet. Not to lose weight or anything like that. I am happy with my current weight. And it took me a long time to see food as nourishment and not calories. I’m just switching up my diet to be more healthy. I feel like I haven’t eaten as healthy as I should. I want to eat more raw veggies and try to cut out most refined foods from my diet. I’m hoping that will help bring up my immunity and as well as help me be healthier in general. As I mentioned in an earlier post, my main goal with my diet is to be healthier and not care too much about weight. Hopefully, I can achieve that.

And I also don’t plan on being crazy strict about what I eat either. I’ll try my best to eat healthier but it’s also okay to treat myself once in a while. Small amounts of unhealthy food are not that bad.

  2. Lovely quote! I’ve been growing my own sprouts and reading up on the nutrition benefits – they are awesome and so easy. Just had some of my first crop of sprouted lentils for lunch today and they tasted so much better than supermarket bought – two days is all it took for them to sprout their little tails.

    1. Thank you so much. Yeah I’ve heard sprouts are really good for health. I used to sprout mung beans a lot before but I don’t as much these days.

  3. So true. A loving heart for oneself and others. Lack of love is a horrible thing and can cause huge issue like loneliness etc. Yes, food is part of that love, but often food has become … I don’t know. I just feel that sometimes I have this craving that I can’t get rid of. I mean it must be something else in life that triggers and it reflects on food…

    1. Yes, love is so necessary and a lack of it causes so much trouble. Food is a double edged sword. Food can be great but it can also be our downfall.

  4. For my week, it hasn’t started out very productive but hopefully I’ll get back on track. Feeling a bit low again so I have to pull myself out of my slump. Maybe I need to eat better too.

  5. That’s great. A diet with permitted moments of indulgence is the best kind of diet. You’re more likely to stick with it and it’s not essentially an end to living to actually live. Any other diet is survival.

  6. 😅 I think you’ve already decided not to diet … with “I’ll try”. I’ve done that. That way when I fail I can say at least I tried. I hope you prove me wrong though. I dream of healthy eating, but then I wake up. 😁

    1. That’s wonderful. Adding more plants and especially raw plants to your diet is really great for health. I don’t think cutting anything out is really necessary just try to limit certain things.

        I don’t understand the quote. It can’t be “all” knowledge. The knowledge needed to make a nuclear bomb starts with curiosity not love. Maybe something along the lines of “A loving heart is the beginning of all compassionate knowledge.” Actually that’s not it either. Maybe more along the lines of : All loving consciousness begins with a loving heart?
        I can’t diet because quotes make me hungry. Being awake makes me hungry.
    When there’s ‘an elephant in the room’* I eat it. Cutting it into bite-size pieces takes a few months, and it can be difficult to stir up a hundred gallons of broth made with a ton of fresh vegetables. The smell of cooking it for a month usually chases away other elephants and snakes. And as the five blind men said, a loving elephant has a big heart, an angry elephant big tusks like swords, and a curious one has a nose bigger than Cyrano de Bergerac.

  9. The first thing people think when we see they word “diet” is “hey he/she must be losing weight”. But, well a diet could means focusing on healthy eating.
    It’s good that you are eating healthy, it will be good for you overall.
    This post is very encouraging and it tells people to eat more healthy and eat the things we really enjoy. 😁
    The major problem with me is, I cannot eat many things that I desire. My diet, doesn’t allow me, because my goal is actually weight loss. And right now, I’m on the toughest position and need to focus harder.
    Like you I need to increase my immunity as well, interesting I got sick for the 3rd time this month 👏🏻👏🏻, and I’ve been told that my immunity is weak 🤷🏻‍♂️. I’m like how? As I’m eating healthy, but I’m lacking somewhere.
    About your friend, I’m happy that you got the chance to talk to her. With good friends we don’t realise the time.

    1. True, not all diets are about losing weight. Thanks so much.
      Yes, it’s tough when you’re trying to lose weight. You have to cut out a lot of food. You should definitely be eating foods that help with your immunity. Like ginger and turmeric.
      Haha don’t worry I will most definitely not be posting health posts anytime soon. 😂

      1. Well yes I will do the needful. After few weeks I will get tested and that will give me give me a better picture about where I’m lacking. I’m still in shock when I’ve been told that my immunity is weak. All the exercise and diet was not helping me much. Need to improve further.

        1. Yes, it’s good to get tests done regularly and see what needs to be done. Your immunity may be weak because you lack certain vitamins. I take vitamin C pills for immunity and they help a lot.

          1. The doctor gave me vitamin C tablets as well. I thought, I was taking enough Vitamins as I eat lots of fruits (citrus as it’s winters). I was wrong. This was a wake-up call for me.

            1. Sometimes it’s that our body doesn’t absorb the vitamins properly from foods. And that’s why we need the tablets. Not because our diet is good.

To blend the concept of the quote you provided with the new goal you have set with your mum: Having a loving heart and loving ourselves is also a vital part of being healthy, for when we struggle with speaking kindly to ourselves we create more cortisol and stress chemicals in our bodies that affect our immune systems, likewise speaking kindly to ourselves helps to ease the inner stress and this in turn has a fortifying effect on our systems!

  15. I’m glad you are taking a healthy approach to changing your diet. Sometimes that is needed when your body isn’t doing too well. I changed my diet to boost my immunity one year, so I get it
