Can Blogging Be A Career?
Recently, I wrote a post about whether or not blogging can be a full-time job and I got so many interesting comments on it. I noticed that working full-time as a blogger is a little different than blogging as a career. And so I thought I would take this opportunity to share some thoughts for those asking themselves, ‘can blogging be a career?’
I started out with blogging as my career because I only earned money blogging. Now, I’ve branched out to freelancing full-time but I think this still gave me a lot of information and experience about what it’s like to have blogging as a career.
I want to start out by saying it’s not for everyone. You need a lot of dedication to make just blogging alone your career. You also need some luck to be honest. Because even when you’re great at blogging, it’s never a guarantee that it’ll work out well for you. The brutal truth is that some people just don’t make it as bloggers.
However, I think it’s still possible to have blogging as your career. If you are someone who wants to blog full-time here are some ways to help you get to that goal:
Niche
I think niche is vital when it comes to blogging. Especially if you’re hoping to make money blogging. If you’re blogging as a hobby you can post anything and call it a day. But when you blog full-time to earn an income, you have to think of SEO, the algorithm, what niche gets more traffic etc. So, picking a niche with a large audience is one way to boost your traffic and following.

Time And Energy
Blogging takes way more time and energy than most people realise. It’s not something that happens overnight like some sites will try to make you believe. It takes constant effort and work to even get your site noticed to a point where you’re constantly growing. If you are willing to spend that much time and energy then you’ll be more likely to grow which will help you make blogging your career. If you can’t do that, which many can’t your growth will be a lot slower. So before you start wanting to blog as a career, think about whether it will be possible for you to spend a long time on your blog. Especially when you start out.
Not everyone can spend ample amounts of time blogging due to things they may have going on in real life like work, family etc. If you’re someone who can’t do that but have a good amount of capital you can invest into your blog, you can hire someone like be to be your blog manager. Capital
Whether or not you are able to invest money into your blog makes a big difference. Unfortunately, we live in a society where money is necessary for everything and anything. And just like with everything else, the more money you have the more money you can make blogging. If you want to blog as a career you are going to be a lot more successful if you can invest in your blog by hiring SEO specialists, blog managers, social media managers, editors etc.
If you have no capital to invest when you start, your growth will be very slow and blogging will become time consuming since you’ll have to do all this yourself.
Conclusion
Hope this was informative for you and taught you more about blogging as a career. In the end, I think it is possible to blog full-time but the truth is it’s a lot tougher than people think. So keep that in mind.
