Which Of My Resolutions Did I Keep This Year?

Which Of My Resolutions Did I Keep This Year?

For the last couple of years, I’ve been sharing my goals and resolutions on my blog and sharing my progress at the end of each year. I find that it helps keep me on track. So, when 2023 began I shared these goals. Let’s see, which of my resolutions did I keep this year.

Finish Writing At Least One Book

Yes! I actually kept this resolution. Actually, I’ll have finished by the time the year ends (31st). Now all that’s left is editing, proofreading, formatting, uploading and publishing. Yay…

Learn To Play The Guitar

I bought a guitar but haven’t had enough time to really practice as much as I wanted to. I think this is a goal I’ll take into 2024 as well. Practice makes perfect.

Grow Down

I did this often in 2023. I did my best to do things my inner child would enjoy like playing online games, actual board games, read more, draw/paint and more. It’s been a lot of fun. Another one of the goals I’ll be taking with me into the new year.

Dye My Hair

I really wanted to dye my hair blue or purple but in the end decided not to as my hair is already pretty damaged. Instead, I may shave it off in 2024. I’ve always wanted to do that and my mum is weirdly supportive and told me she’ll shave hers with me lol. Not sure yet though, let’s see.

Have A Healthy Lifestyle

2023 was probably the healthiest I have ever been. At least as an adult. I was super healthy as a child as my mum is very health conscious. This year, I tried to eat mostly oil-free and had lots of raw veggies as a side dish with most of my meals. I also cut out sugar almost completely, reduced my salt intake and tried to eat/drink more fermented stuff. And it’s made a huge difference.

The reason I made these changes was because I got tested and my thyroid (TSH levels) was pretty high. My doctor suggested I start taking medication to lower it. But my mum encouraged me to try making lifestyle changes for a few months and see if that helps before starting the medication. And it worked.

Start A YouTube Channel

I did start a YouTube channel and I tried to upload as much as possible. You can check out my YouTube channel by clicking here. And check out my latest video below:

Travel More

I didn’t travel a lot except my trip to Eco Farmhouse during my birthday. However, I did go out a lot more and explore Nairobi which I think counts as traveling lol. Shoutout to my sister and my cousins for going everywhere with me and making the experiences so much more fun!

Conclusion

So, that’s how my resolutions went. How many of your goals did you keep in 2023? Let me know in the comments below or simply stop by and say hi!

  1. I absolutely do not do resolutions! It’s just one more thing to fail at! I try to be gentle with myself and encouraging. I try not to think about all I have yet to accomplish! That’s my story and I’m sticking to it 😂!

    1. That’s fair haha!

  2. I’m with Rita, no resolutions. You prospered in 2023, Pooja! If you and your mum do shave your heads, you must post photos. 😊

    1. Lol that’s fair. Thanks, I’ll definitely share the images if I decide to do it 😊

      1. ❤️❤️❤️

  3. I’m glad you met most of your goals Pooja. All the best for the next year my friend

    1. Thanks so much, wishing you the best for 2024 too.

      1. Thanks Pooja.

        1. You’re very welcome.

  4. The only two goals I set for 2023 honestly was driving myself to work and back and reverse parking. I can do both quite well so I’m hoping to expand my driving skills a bit more for 2024.

    1. Wishing you the best with that goal in 2024, hope your driving skills improve.

  5. resolutions?…..maybe, but as I was reminded in 2023, you never know what is ahead….when my father went into the hospital in January, that pretty much derailed the year….three month was pretty much tied up with that one thing..he turned around and is doing well now, but 90 year old parents…who knows what’s ahead….?
I think that’ll be my tomorrow…I have a day away from clinics and zooms, all I have is a morning run, and then dinner with the family…so maybe a longer blog, and goals for 2024….
my main one I already know…to be more open and social…..that, no matter what is possible..and hey, I play guitar

    1. It’s true, life can be very unpredictable.

That’s cool, hopefully after this year I’ll play guitar too.

  6. Which camera you are using for YouTube?

    1. Just my phone camera.

      1. Oh! Then which phone you are using 😁 also Happy New year 🎊🎊

        1. I use a Google Pixel for filming- it has a really nice camera 😊
          Happy New Year 🥳

          1. Yeh.. 😊 that’s what I asked, it’s really nice.

          2. Oh……Yeh..😲 😊 that’s why I asked, it’s really nice and also costly.

            1. Yeah, it is a bit pricey although cheaper than buying a professional camera.

  7. Hoooray! Congrats on accomplishing of your goals ❤️ Oooh, you with a shaved head would be a vibeeee 👀🔥 Also, I really love the idea for the “grow down” goal. As a reader, it’s so cool looking back and seeing how much you’ve achieved! Happy New Year Pooja, may 2024 be even more great and successful! 🥰

    1. Thanks so much! ❤️ Ikr, I’ve always wanted to shave my head but was too afraid too 😅 Grow down is a fun one, I loved it. Happy New Year to you as well, hope you have an incredible 2024! 😊

  8. It looks like it was a great 2023 overall. Congrats! I’m curious to see how you like guitar when you really get going. I have played off and on for many years and love it when I get the chance to devote some real time to it. All the best for a great 2024!

    1. Yes, 2023 had some great moments. Thanks! I think I’ll love guitar I just need to make more time for it. Have a great 2024 too!

  9. Of course exploring your city counts as travel! Great job. I’m happy you have a supportive mum. Cheers to an awesome 2024!

    1. I think so too and thank you! Have a great 2024 too!

  10. My only goal was to get in good shape in 2023, which I think I did a decent job.

I want to get in much better shape in 2024 🙂
I would like to learn a few things as well.

As for shaving your head, I wonder what that even mean?
As in bald? What kind of genZ thing is that?
I wanted to see a red or blue headed PooG, bald is a no-no.

I am waiting for your book dear, best wishes.

    1. That’s great, good luck in 2024.

Yeah, I don’t care I’m still going to shave my hair if I feel like lol 😂

Thanks so much, should be published in a few months 😊

      1. Bald pooja is unimaginable 👩🏻‍🦲
You will look like nerd kid 😛 🤓

        What’s the book is called?
Why whinning is good for health?
        Why do I whine? 😅

        1. I’m already a nerd so I don’t mind 😅 Plus my hair grows so fast I’ll be back to normal in a few months.

Lol, how did you know?? 😉

          1. Atleast tell the title 🙂

            1. I’ll do a title reveal soon don’t worry 😉

  11. Your hair always looks nice so why shave it off unless you are entering an ashram.

    1. What’s an ashram? In my culture it’s encouraged that everyone shaves their hair at least once in their life. Most people do it as a child but my parents wanted me to wait till I was an adult and could make that decision for myself.

        1. Oh okay, I’m not Hindu so we don’t call them Ashram.

    2. Even if she’s joining an ashram
Her name suits for that role 😛

      1. Yes it does. Homage to the Higher Power would probably be most understood in the Western World so Pooja is very appropriate.

  12. It’s difficult for me to make a resolution because I won’t be able to complete it. It would be great if you could complete the pooja😊🥰🤗👍

    1. That’s fair, resolutions aren’t for everyone. Thanks so much 😊💕

  13. Nice to see you keep up with your goals . Kudos to you 👍!

    1. Thank so much!

  14. The year gone past has not been too good for me due to my husbands brain injury I am still struggling each day to keep him strong , I hope this year 2024! will bring better results for him! Wish All my word press friends a great year ahead!

    1. Sorry to hear that, I know that can’t be easy. I hope so too!

  15. I didn’t make any resolutions, but I did intend to lose some weight and post more often on my blog. I am down 8 pounds from November so I will count that as a win and I did post a lot more on my blog in 2023.

2024 is a year of uncertainty for me with my day job ending sometime before the end of June. I am still holding onto my dream of retiring rich with a lotto win, lol.

Thank you for your many words of wisdom and entertainment. I wish you all the best in 2024.

    1. Those are both definitely wins.

Lol, fingers crossed this is the year you win the lotto🤞🏽

Thanks so much and thanks for supporting lifesfinewhine so much this year. Really appreciate it. Have a wonderful 2024.

  16. Your hair-shaving tale brought back memories! I once convinced my sister, who battled hair loss, to let me shave her head, promising the best head massages. Alas, my ‘head-turning’ offer led to a light beating🥺🥺.Seems our hair-brained ideas didn’t quite make the cut! Here’s to the world of sibling antics and misadventures! 🤣💇‍♂️😜

    1. Lol that’s hilarious, my sister used to do stuff like that to me growing up 😅

  17. You do rather well on your resolutions..so congratulations. most people give up before the second week of January. 😊
I surpassed my writing goals. Fitness goals were a dud, and financially I did not win a gold medal. But I try never beat myself up for having tried my best at something. Wishing you all the best for 2024 Pooja G… And good luck with the manuscript. 👏👏👏

    1. Yeah, I was surprised that I achieved so many of the resolutions but I was consciously trying to work towards them.

Trying counts too and yay for surpassing your writing goals. That’s amazing.

Thanks so much and all the best for 2024 to you as well, hopefully this year will be wonderful for us all 😊

  18. Why can I already imagine you with a shaved head?? But like wow, that’s gonna be a huge step! And you did so well with your resolutions, so proud of you boo!

    1. We should shave my hair off when I visit!! Haha yeah, I’ve always wanted to shave my hair but I used to be so self conscious. Thank you! ❤️

  19. That’s a pretty heavy list and I’m impressed you were able to do carry out so much of it.
If you do shave your head, just make sure you have already bought some sort of skin moisturizer ahead of time. I use vitamin e oil and just use 1 or 2 drops after shaving. And after the first time you do it, your head might be wicked sensitive, so treat it really gently. But you have to keep on shaving it and that will toughen it up. Do you have a smooth, flowing head or a bumpy one? That makes a huge difference in what you use to shave, how often, technique, etc. I am blessed with a very uniform skull, but my father-in-law has bumps like a mountain ridge. He tried shaving his head just once and it was such a pain that he said he’ll never try it again, hahahaha.

    1. Thank you so much. That’s really great advice, thanks so much. I do have tons of moisturiser and oils including vitamin E oil which will come in handy if I decide to shave it. Haha well, hopefully I have a smooth head.

  20. Wow. I’m so happy you finished writing your first draft Pooja 👏🏼👏🏼
I honestly can’t wait to read your book when it finally gets out.

    1. Thanks so much, that means a lot to me 💕

      1. You’re welcome 🫶🏼

  21. never understood the hair dying thing
    shaving it off
    we would assume
    you had become a deltan

    1. I have become a delta so the assumption would be correct…

      1. of course it is and remind sulu of your oaths.

  22. Hi Pooja,
Though I had plans to travel this year but I couldn’t. Goals for better physical and mental health should be kept flexible, short, and achievable. I have learnt that cute and short goals work best for me as I am excited to stay consistent.
Colouring hair and getting a tattoo are scary things for me.
All the best for next year, Pooja. HAPPY NEW YEAR 🥳

    1. Short goals generally work best for most people I think. Hopefully you will be able to travel more next year. I have three tattoos but have never coloured my hair. It’s something I want to try once. Happy New Year 🥳

  23. I couldn’t keep any of my New Year’s resolutions 💀 but glad to read you have kept many of yours♥️

    1. That’s okay, you’ll do better in 2024 and thank you ☺️

  24. Great year for you Pooja. Kudos and congrats on all of things you accomplished❣️

    1. Thanks so much, yes it was a really great year 😊

  25. a good year, naturally from mind strong 😉
All the best for the coming year, Pooja… 🤍🤗

    1. Thanks so much and all the best for 2024 to you as well 🤗

      1. most welcome and thank you too🤍🌹

        1. You’re very welcome ☺️

  26. Have a success 2024 Pooja 👍

    1. Thanks so much, have a great 2024 as well.

      1. You are welcome

  27. After January, if you think that the next one is December, you can do things quickly and complete them. that is my resolution

    1. That’s a good mindset to have.

  28. Good on you Pooja! Wishing you a wonderful New Year!

    1. Thanks so much, have a wonderful 2024 as well!

  29. I don’t make NY resolutions and prefer to set mini goals throughtout the year. I was born with red hair and when it started to fade, I didn’t know what to do. Dyeing red hair always looks fake whether done by a salon or at home. So I kept it trimmed to shoulder length and used hair masks and jojaba oils to bring it back. Now, my hair has to turned pure white and it’s long and healthy. I found that chemicals consistently applied to hair can be damaging. Also, using silk pillow cases is easier on your hair and doesn’t rough up the cuticles or cause split ends.

    Happy New Year, Pooja! 💖

    1. That’s fair. I think for a lot of people mini goals are more achievable and work better. Wow, red hair is so beautiful it’s so cool was your natural hair colour. It’s true, too many products in your hair makes it worse. I plan on going grey instead of dying it when I get older as well. I started using silk pillow cases three years back and it’s been great. It helps so much with frizzy hair.

      Happy New Year! 💕

  30. Good to know that you were able to keep up your resolutions.

    1. Thanks so much.

  31. Happy New Year to you and your loved ones.

    1. Happy New Year, have a great 2024.

  32. Seems like you accomplished some of the big ones Pooja. Just continue working at the others in 2024. I was having a conversation with my sons the other day about whether or not young people these days make resolutions because I don’t hear them talking about any. Glad to see some still do. Have a great 2023 my dear!

    1. Yes, I had a pretty successful year. Thanks and yes I do still make resolutions and my friends usually do too.

    1. Thanks so much, Happy New Year 🥳

      1. Thank you Pooja! Enjoy the rest of your first week of 2024! 🥳🥂😍

        1. Thank you! ☺️

          1. You are so very welcome my dear Pooja! 🥰🙏🏽🤗

Glad you were able to keep a large proportion of your resolutions. Congratulations!

    1. Thanks so much!

  34. Happy New Year! You did a great job of achieving as many goals as possible. What is your book about?

    1. Happy New Year! Thanks so much. The book is a poetry book containing 100 original poems.

      1. Wow! That’s wonderful.

        1. Thank you. I’m excited about it!

  35. Congratulations on all your achievements! You made quite a few goals and to have reached so many is pretty awesome.

I don’t generally make firm resolutions/goals though in my December 31st post I’ve listed some hopes for the year. I did have a goal of cycling 6,000 kilometres in the year but as I took some unplanned time off the bike, I only made it to 5,660. That’s the most I’ve done in a year so far, though.

I look forward to hearing more about your book!

    1. Thanks so much! Yes, I am happy to have achieved at least a number of them.

That’s still quite close to 6000km.

      Thanks!

      1. You’re welcome, and thanks!

        1. My pleasure!

  36. Well done and all the best for 2024!

    1. Thanks so much and have a great 2024!

  37. I had many challenges in 2023, both good and bad. I pray this year for me will go well. I don’t make resolutions because they always fail. I just take it one day at a time.

    1. Wishing you a great 2024, I hope it goes well for you.

  38. Shaving my head was a big deal back in high school, my mum wasn’t supportive of that at all. But my best friend totally was! She even wrote a poem about it , I wish I could share it here… Anyway, the plan was for both of us to shave our heads as a protest, I’m not sure what we were protesting against. LoL

    1. Lol, it’s awesome your friend was so supportive of you. Did you two end up shaving your hair?

      1. No, our parents would have kicked us out of the house

        1. Oh okay, haha. Well at least your bestie was supportive.

  39. Yay that you did most of your resolutions. Good luck with the rest of your book. I really don’t do resolutions. But, this year I’ve made some goals that I want to finish this year. Wish me luck!

    1. Thanks so much and that’s great, good luck with them!

  40. I don’t do resolutions. I’m perfect. If I can keep laughing everythings all right. Congrats on your accomplishments. Well Done!! 🤣🙃😎

    1. Lol that’s good too, thanks!

  41. Congratulations on your accomplishments Pooja. I look forward to hearing about your new book. Happy new year. May this year be full of growth and prosperity for you.

    1. Thank you so much and Happy New Year to you as well. I hope you have an amazing 2024.

    1. Thanks so much.

  42. I am happy for you Pooja, you were focused and achieved your 2023 goals. I hope I will be resilient like you are and achieve my own goals for 2024.

    1. Thank you so much. I hope that for you too and that you can achieve your goals for 2024.
