Another new beginning

Right in front of us

To fumble it

Or not to fumble it?

That is the real question

About “Another New Beginning”

It’s a new year and I know a lot of people think of it as an extension but a lot of people think of it as a new beginning. I’m one of the people who like to think of it as a new beginning. Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m not going to delude myself into thinking everything will magically change this year because it’s a new year. However, I am going to be thinking of it as an opportunity to better myself and my life.

I talked about my goals for the year on this post. I like to think of them as goals and not resolutions because some of them are more longterm. And I feel like goals are more realistic and makes it easier for me to stick with them. But that’s just me. Anyway, this poem is about whether or not I’m going to squander my opportunities this year. I have a history of self sabotaging but I have been working on that and have gotten so much better about it. So hopefully, in 2024 I don’t fumble the blessings I receive and make the most of it.

What are your thoughts about the new year? Is there anything you are trying to improve about yourself or your life this year? Let me know in the comments section because I would absolutely love to hear your thoughts. Or simply stop by and say hi!

  1. FUMBLE IT! It’s far more fun 🤣🙃😎

    1. Lo, will keep that in mind when I inevitably fumble 😅

  2. In all honesty, I’m really just going to try and take life as a whole, “15 minutes at a time,” and go from there.

    1. That’s fair, sometimes you just have to take life as it comes.

      1. 🙏🏾💙

  3. Great post. I admire your honesty and I find your post thought-provoking. Very insightful. Thanks for sharing, Pooja.

This year, my goal is to think long-term with regards to all my plannings. To look at the bigger picture before taking decisions.

    1. Thank you so much.

That’s a great goal and I wish you the best with it.

      1. You are welcome 💕. Thanks for the wishes, Pooja.

        1. You’re so welcome 💕

  4. Hello Pooja, embracing the New Year’s potential for growth and change is a great perspective. Your poem encapsulates the universal struggle of seizing opportunities versus self-sabotage. Setting goals instead of resolutions is a practical approach. Your openness about personal growth is inspiring. In 2024, I’m focusing on cultivating more mindfulness and gratitude. Wishing you a year filled with progress and fulfillment! Thank you for sharing!

    1. Thanks so much. That’s wonderful for you, mindfulness and gratitude are both important in life. I wish you the best with it and wishing you a great year too!

      1. Thank you! 🙏🏽

        1. You’re very welcome ☺

  5. I’ve self-sabotaged too, Pooja. You aren’t alone. ❤️

    1. Thanks, it’s always nice to know others struggle with something similar ❤️

      1. Yes, I agree. ❤️

        1. ❤️🥰

  6. I think everybody self-sabotages. I certainly do. 🤷‍♀️

    1. Yeah, I think the majority of us do that 😅

  7. Going from a rabbit year to a dragon year in Chinese astrology. Dragon is supposed to be the best luck.

    1. Yes, I was reading about that. As someone born in the year of the Ox this is supposed to be a good year for me.

      1. I think in Chinese the years not so fortunate are the same years as our birth year. I am a rabbit, and we are finishing a rabbit year. The Aquarius new moon is the first moon of spring for them. Their new year starts on that new moon each year.

        1. Oh, I see. Yeah, I have read about that.

  8. You already somewhat know my story, so I won’t bore you with that again, but I will say that I also see the new year as a sort of “mental reset” and a good time to review where I’ve been and where I want to go. Time can be a valuable measuring tool as long as we don’t become to beholden to it.

    1. I think that’s a good idea, especially to think of where you want to go in the future. I wish you the best with it!

      1. Yes, not too much looking backward.
        Thank you and you too!

        1. You’re so welcome. Yeah, it’s best not to fixate on the past and focus on the future. At least that’s how I feel.

          1. Indeed. If you look back for too long I think you risk getting stuck there.

            1. Exactly, we need to let the past go and keep focusing on the present and future.

  9. I got a self-sabotage tendency too! I’m trying to work on it this year.
Excited to start a new year and to learn from 2023 and move on from it.

    1. I think many of us do that but it’s something we can improve on. Yes, this is a new start for many of us and hopefully it will go well!

  10. to new beginnings for you, Pooja… may it be all that you want it to be… 🤍

    1. Thanks so much 😊

      1. my pleasure 🙏🤍

  11. It’s good to have goals and objectives in life. All the best

    1. I agree, I think for me goals work much better than resolutions as they are more longterm and doable. Thanks so much.

      1. You’re most welcome 🙏🏼

  12. Don’t fumble 😅

I’m here to see how it goes!!

You have capacity with things. I trust you 😛

    1. I will remember that when I inevitably fumble 😅

      1. Trouble will find you 🤷🏻‍♂️

        1. As it inevitably does. Btw, are you feeling better now?

          1. Yeah 🙂🙏🏻

            1. Oh good, glad to hear that.

              1. How are you doing btw??

                1. Compared to how I’m usually doing, I’m okay 😅

                  1. Try to stay that way!!

Try to avoid trouble. Smile, it suits you

                    1. Thanks so much and stay well too 😊

  13. No fairy dust in the real world. Love the mindset Pooja G..one day at a time. 🙏💜👏

    1. Thanks so much and yeah it’s really just about taking it one day at a time. 💕

  14. I’m not really a resolutions and New year New me sort of person, but this year we will be moving house 3 hours across the country on the 9th Jan so it really is a new start…
I am not setting goals yet though… waiting until all the moving stuff is dealt with, I’ll probably make them in June as is traditional in my blog world 🙂

    1. Oh I see, well best of luck with the move. I’m not a fan of moving because I hate packing and unpacking but often it’s necessary. I look forward to reading them in June, it’s never a bad time to set goals 🙂

  15. I’ve gotten away from new year resolutions but it is still nice to have a “first” day to kick things off. Do you have a list of “new Pooja goals” you started?

    1. Yeah, it’s nice just to have that “first” day feeling. I think you found my list haha 😅

  16. I like your thinking Pooja… Goals are more attainable. I still have days where I have fears of being attacked when I go out, though I know the chances of that are nil here, my anxiety won’t accept it. PTSD is terrible…

That is what I am working on this year, releasing all the fear of being attacked by members of my community, here and online, due to the manipulations of toxic people and their websites contents they are starting all over again I know I will get there!!

    1. Yeah, I find goals more achievable and feel like it’s less pressure on myself since they are longterm. PTSD is hard, we’re not rational when those thoughts hit. They’re just like a reflex action.

I hope you can achieve that and live free of that fear!

  17. instant Pooja!
    she shaved her head
    and went to falujah
    the fatwah was her mission
    to be a militant light
    my buddy
    a constant hiiiigh
    hey!

      1. in fact your reality is better than good fiction.

        1. Yeah, often reality is better.

  18. instant Pooja!

    1. That’s me lolll

      1. it is. indeed.

  19. I think without bothering for the fumble, doing our bit is much more important. Thanks.

    1. True, that’s most important. Thanks so much.

  20. I really enjoyed reading the post about how to use certain words in writing effectively. Pooja, it is wonderful 👏👏👏💯💯🥰🤗🧿

    1. Thanks so much, really appreciate your kind words 😊

      1. Always my pleasure, Girl😊🥰🤗🤗🧿🙏

  21. Get writing that book Pooj!!

    1. Hahah, working on it now!

  22. Don’t get fumble, survive opposition

    1. Yup, exactly 💪🏽

  23. I’m trying hard not to fumble…one day at a time and lots of prayers.

    1. Yup, all we can do is try our best and pray things will turn out okay.

Glad you’re working on positive change for yourself.

    1. Thanks so much, appreciate it.

  25. I no longer make new year resolutions. Instead, I make goals for each month and reassess at the start of each month which goals to continue or drop.

    1. That’s a great way to work towards goals as well. I make yearly goals but break them down to smaller goals each month.

  26. Your perspective on the New Year as a new beginning is both refreshing and inspiring. It’s admirable that you’re using this time as an opportunity for self-improvement and personal growth, rather than expecting an automatic reset.

    1. Thanks so much. I appreciate that. Yeah, I realised it works best if we make a conscious decision to work towards our goals instead of waiting for things to change.

  27. I like to think of a new year as new beginnings. Fumble I will but that’s the way I learn where I need self-improvement. If we are perfect in everything we do, then there is no room to grow. Your post is refreshing and inspiring, Pooja. 💖

    1. Thanks so much and true. Those mistakes help us grow and improve ourselves. 💕

      1. You’re welcome, Pooja.💖

  28. I love your way of thinking, Pooja, and it sounds similar to mine regarding goals instead of resolutions. A new beginning is a new chance while also being realistic. I wish you all the best with your goals this year! I have some personal goals, but the main project will be to publish my first children’s book. I’m working with my illustrator, but I’ll have to focus on the details. Fingers crossed! Happy New Year! 💖🎉

    1. Thanks so much! Exactly, it’s a new beginning but you have to work hard to get to where you want to be that year. Wow, a children’s book is amazing. That would be so cool. I wish you the very best with it! 💕

  29. I look at this year as a new beginning. I am looking forward to finishing school this year. I don’t have resolutions because they never work out. I am looking forward to improving on my posting, and try to finish writing my second book so I can focus on the other two, and still promote my first one on all of my sites I have created. I am looking forward to being more positive rather than negative. I am looking forward to all of my blessings and to not fumble any of them. Thanks for sharing your great poetry. As always, keep up the good work. Have a wonderful weekend.

    1. Those are great things to look forward to and I wish you the best with them. Have a great weekend too.

  30. Many blessings and may you have your eyes open to your blessings.

    1. Thank you so much, really appreciate your kind words.

  31. A new beginning, and also a continuation — and the opportunity to continue anew.

    1. Absolutely, hope you have lots of opportunities this year.

      1. Thank you!

        1. My pleasure!
