In Her Words

In Her Words | Beautiful Indian Girl In A Library Writing In A Book Wearing A Golden And White Dress With Long Open Hair And Bangles

In her words

She finally found peace

She was at ease

As she wrote in her library

Filling book after book

With the magical worlds

That only existed in her head

Until the day she took her last breath

And there were no longer words left to right

About “In Her Words”:

This is another awesome image I got from Kevin’s blog. If you don’t know, he has a No Theme Thursday post every week where he shares some very cool images. This image is from last week’s post. I’m too late to submit this one since he already shared the post with the submissions but this image just caught my eye and I wanted to use it anyway. Hope you don’t mind Kevin!

I love her, she looks like what I think I look like in my head but actually don’t lol. So, this poem is about writers as you can probably tell. I think we don’t choose writing, it chooses us. And it’s one of those things that once you start you know you’ll do it for the rest of your life. When it comes to writing, we have little control over it. The words come to us and we write. At least that’s my experience. And much like the girl in the poem, I hope to write till my last breath.

Are you a writer? If so, what do you love about it? What did you think of “In Her Words”? Let me know in the comments below because I would absolutely love to hear your thoughts. Or simply stop by and say hi!

  1. A beautiful take Pooja! A writer is happiest when writing.

    1. Thank you so much, I think so too.

      1. You’re most welcome 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

  2. That’s a beautiful image, Pooja, and the story is sad to me. 😭

    1. Thank you, yeah the end was a little bittersweet 😥

  3. Bravo, Pooja. Bravo. 👏👏
I think you’ve painted a lovely, bittersweet portrait here that anyone who writes, or creates anything for that matter, can relate to. Even though you were technically “late”, I still consider this a very welcome addition to this week’s challenge. It is very informal, and my only goal is that others find enjoyment or inspiration in it. 😊

    1. Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it. I always enjoy participating in the challenge 😊

      1. And we are very glad to have you! 😊
New images are up. Hope you see something you like!

        1. I already wrote a short story using one of the images, don’t want to fall behind this time lol 😜

          1. Look at you getting ahead of the game and stuff lol
I look forward to it, as always! 😊

            1. Thanks and haha yeah these images just really got my creative side going!

              1. That makes me very happy to hear! 😊

  4. Catchy photo! I do think of writing as filling books or pages with magical worlds.

    1. I think so too. Yeah, the image from Kevin is great.

      1. I like this poem. That is one thing about being mostly a fiction writer, I can escape anywhere in my head. And to be able to put it down on paper so to speak is so much fun.

        1. Thank you so much. True, it’s nice to have a whole different world in your mind.

  5. Yet another masterpiece Pooja. The feelings of every writer realistically described 👌❤️

    1. Thank you so much 😊❤️

  6. Beautiful poem!!

    True, writing chooses the person.
I’m not much of a writer, but I like doing what I do 😊.

Overall a great take on the image. Justified ❤️

    1. Thanks so much! I think so too 😊

  7. I love the poem.

I am curious if the last line was intentional or if it was just pure writer genius. 🙂

I see a bit of your resemblance to the picture. You should stage a photo like that for comparison.

    1. Thank you so much. Haha that line wasn’t intentional so maybe I’m a genius… 😅

Hmm maybe I should, although I don’t think I look much like the picture other than that we’re both about the same shade and have a similar jawline. I feel like that’s what I would look like if I started editing my pictures lol.

  8. This is a great poem, Pooja. It’s reminiscent of my own short story ‘Lady Mura Ithorma’ which was inspired by the same image. But your poem has a very different context.

    1. Thanks so much. That sounds very interesting, I’ll check it out.

  9. ”In her words
    She finally found peace…”

sets the tone to a perfect flow, Pooja.
    it’s a wow for sure ✨

    1. Aw, thanks so much 🤗

      1. most welcome 🤗

  10. Fantastic lines, thanks.

    1. Thanks so much.

  11. Isn’t it so weird how we have a mental image of ourselves, even though we can see ourselves every day in the mirror? I always think of myself as Bruce Willis once he hit the shaved head stage. Sigh, if only 😀

    1. Yeah, it’s absolutely fascinating because even the image we see in the mirror is distorted by our minds to make us think we look more attractive than we do. Lol, maybe you do look a little like Bruce Willis, you never know 😅

      1. Mrs B might think so, but I know better 🙂

        1. Mrs. B might be write, maybe to her you do look like Bruce Willis.

  12. Lovely image, beautiful young girl, just like you Pooja. Beautiful inside and out 🙂

    1. Aw, thanks so much 😊

    1. Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it.

  13. When there is no words left to right, she should start looking right to left, there still might be some… You never know until you slowly find them all, one by one in the midday sun, word by word, bird by bird. Flying away, yet they are all here to stay…

    1. I love your take on it, such a sweet ending.

      1. Thank you Pooja

        1. You’re very welcome.

  14. Great poem Pooja… I like to think I am a writer, one in a long line of writers. I have published writers in my family, fiction and non-fiction.

I like seeing my thoughts on paper, it shows me all I have learned and grown as a person over time and I hope to impart this knowledge to others facing similar situations.

I hope you had a great day!

    1. Thanks so much. Oh wow, that’s so impressive. I don’t think anyone else in my family really enjoys writing but they do love reading.

I feel the same way, it shows us how far we’ve come and how much we have grown.

      I hope you did too!

  15. Very well expressed.

    1. Thanks so much.

  16. cmon on now
    no such word as awsome

and all good is a lie
    and here is why
    look around
    gudka to gupta

    1. Thankfully the hot weather has improved!

      1. cold here. lions and lambs to come. in like a lion march 1 on the morrow of course!

        1. Don’t worry it’ll warm up soon, spring is on the way!

  17. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and the beautiful image . It’s wonderful how art and creativity can inspire us.

    1. Thank you so much, so glad you enjoyed it. Yes, a lovely work of art often inspires us.

  18. Pooja, you wove your words wonderfully around the image. I love your statement ” I think we don’t choose writing, it chooses us.”. It’s fulfilling to spill our words and be creative.

    1. Thanks so much. Yes, it’s so incredibly fulfilling to write and it gives us an outlet.

      1. You’re welcome, Pooja.

  19. I don’t know where the words come from. They flow and trigger one another chasing ideas through the ether!

    1. They just come and we can’t stop them!

  20. Yes am a writer and the one thing I love about it is how, I get to share my thoughts with many people.

The Piece ” In Her Words” describes the life of a writer.

    1. I love that too, we can truly express our thoughts through writing. Even in a way we can’t through other forms of communication. Thank you.

    Lovely!

  22. Touching, well written 🌹

    1. Thank you so much ☺️

      1. Welcome👍

  23. Very nice poem, Pooja. Writers write. It’s what we need to do. Love the image, as well. She is beautiful, just like you.

    1. Thank you so much. Absolutely, writing is a must for writers, we can’t live without it.

  24. In her words/She finally found peace/She was at ease–and she wrote the rest of her life. until she was out of life and words, or was it words and life? And she wrote a library’s worth of works. Hmm, you’ve created a person, succinctly, who finds peace from writing and so keeps writing. This is cool. I’m somewhere when I write (in a zone, I think), which isn’t always peaceful, though I keep going. Which I’d say is discipline more than bravery. It is an attractive picture. Do you feel at peace when you write? Sometimes when I write, the world makes sense for a little while, after. I hope you’re having, or have had, a fine Leap Day.

    1. Thanks so much and hope you had a good Leap Day too. It’s like an extra day to do what we couldn’t for the rest of February.
Yeah, I feel at peace when I write. Actually, more like excited and my brain finally quiets down. It’s amazing. Writing is like a break for me from everything else including myself.

      1. I like your idea of Leap Day. The gift of a day to finish our tasks for the month. Maybe every month needs a Leap Day, all the time.

Your description of writing is frankly fascinating. Peace, excitement, quiet, “amazing.” Writing is a break from everything else that might be pressing, even parts of you. It’s the quieting aspect of writing for (by) you that is especially appealing. I’m happy writing can do that for you.

        1. Thanks so much. I think we would benefit a lot from a Leap Day each month haha. Kind of like one extra day to do all the stuff you promised to do that month.

Yeah, I’m happy writing does that for me too. I would go crazy without it.

  25. She’s gorgeous just like you !! Happy Leap Day, Pooja <3
Are you gonna buy into an annual subscription of any kind?
Do it on February 29, you might get it free for the next four years based on poor code!

    1. Haha no, I don’t really do subscriptions but that’s a good idea for the future! 😅 Did you subscribe to anything?
Happy Leap Day to you as well!

      1. That was my one leap day joke (lol) !!

        1. Lol you may be on to something though! 😅

  26. I love this poignant poem Pooja! Cheers to the writer in all of us❣️

    1. Thanks so much! ✍🏼💕

      1. You’re so welcome❣️

  27. The image is nice. Writing chose me when I was very young. I knew I would always write, and like the writer in your poem, I want to write until the very end. Beautiful poem.

    1. Thanks so much. I feel the same way and can very much relate.

  28. You wrote just a writer’s beautiful perspective

    1. Thanks so much ☺

  29. I love writing because you can take tangled thoughts from inside you and mold them into something coherent in the world outside of yourself.

    1. That’s so true, I feel that way too.

  30. I was a writer, but have lost all joy.

    1. I’m so sorry to hear that. Is there any particular reason why?

      1. Too much stress somce dad passed away, perhaps. My next collection was supposed to be published in November.

        1. Sorry for your loss. Something like that can really cause so much stress.

          1. Thank you, good lady

            1. You’re very welcome. Hope you feel better soon.

                1. No problem.

  31. I also think that she looks like what I think you look like😅. Yeah I got the feeling too, that I’ll be doing this for the rest of my life. More than a feeling actually.
There’s a little bit of sadness in “in her words”. I guess there always is with creating worlds. So close, so so close, then we wake up. Perhaps the balance can be struck 🌸🖤

    1. I don’t know if balance is possible with writing, it has a tendency of taking over 😫

  32. Dear Pooja, I loved your poem, I love writing, and could not imagine not doing it! Xo

    1. Thank you and same here, writing is such an important part of my life!
