Rebel Without A Cause

Rebel Without A Cause

Rebel without a cause

They called him

Blue jeans and white shirt

Leather jacket on top

The signal of youthful rebellion

What a cool cat

Had all the girls swooning

What a way to live

A life without any rules or constraints

Until he finally found his cause

And now he’s a rebel with a cause

To never have a cause

About “Rebel Without A Cause”

I’m sure you guys know Kevin’s NTT challenge by now as I frequently participate. This poem is in response to one of the images he created this week for the NTT post. This image instantly reminded me of the movie, Rebel Without A Cause. You can read more about the movie here. I don’t know if the younger bloggers will know it but maybe some of you guys will. It still has a pretty big fanbase especially because James Dean stared in it.

This poem isn’t like the best writing I’ve ever shared or anything but like with all prompts it was just fun to create. After working on my books and other things, it’s fun to not overthink things and just write what comes to my mind. So, even if it may not be my best work or properly polished, I very much enjoyed writing it.

Hope you guys enjoyed it! Let me know if you’ve ever seen Rebel Without A Cause? Are you a fan of it? Are you a fan of James Dean? Let me know what you thought of this week’s image and poem in the comments below. Or simply stop by and say hi!

    1. Thank you so much and yeah sometimes it’s just fun to write what comes to mind!

  2. I’ve heard the name but haven’t watched the movie. Your poem fits the image

    1. Thanks so much. Yeah, it’s a pretty famous movie although I didn’t like it that much so I wouldn’t recommend it.

      1. You’re most welcome my friend. Keep on developing your fiction portfolio.

  3. I visited his grave with a relative I visited in Indiana, but even after that didn’t see the film!

    1. Oh that’s so cool. I’m not a big fan of the movie so I wouldn’t recommend watching it lol!

      1. haha. Maybe there’s a reason I haven’t been drawn to watching it, outside of not being particularly close with the relative. 🙂

        1. Oh yeah, I think unconsciously you know you won’t like the movie haha.

  4. Reminds me of a great song by Billy Joel back in the day… “Angry Young Man.” https://genius.com/Billy-joel-prelude-angry-young-man-lyrics

    1. I love that song (and Billy Joel in general) 😀

  5. Beautiful post 🌹

    1. Thanks so much 😊

  6. “An actor should be judged by his performance only.” JD Never saw the movie, but your poem and Kevin’s pic captured his essence perfectly!

    1. Thanks so much! The movie wasn’t one of my favourites but JD did a great job in it.

  10. Loved the poem!!
I’m enjoying your depiction on the images

    Here’s mine:
In my opinion, he’s just some random Gen Z, who’s taking pics for Instagram to look cool.
I’ve seen people doing asinine stuff, he’s doing just that 😛

    1. Thanks so much!

Lol that sounds more accurate 😅 He sounds like me though 🤭

  11. Heard of it, can’t remember ever having seen it.

    1. Yeah, it’s a famous movie but not many people have seen it. I saw it as a teen and didn’t love it to be honest.

  12. Nice poem. I vaguely remember seeing the movie on tv when I was kid. It never really appealed to me. He was a promising young actor and it is a shame he died so young.

    1. I watched it when I was a teenager and didn’t love it. But JD did a great job with the acting and it’s definitely a shame he died young.

      1. Yes, he is about the same age as Clint Eastwood. Think about all the great movies Clint Eastwood did plus his producing and directing.

        1. Oh yeah, actually I don’t think I’ve ever seen any Clint Eastwood movies.

  13. Very cool, Pooja! I was going for a James Dean vibe, so I’m stoked someone caught it. Great poem! 😎😎

    1. Thanks so much! Oh nice, glad I was on point with that 😄

  14. That’s a fun poem with interesting thoughts. I did not see the movie rebel without a cause but I saw Giant, his last movie.

    1. Thanks so much. I’ve never seen Giant, Rebel Without A Cause is the only JD movie I’ve seen. He was a really good actor, it’s a shame he died so tragically.

    2. Dear Pooja and Thomas,

I have watched all three of the main movies starring James Dean, by whom Pooja’s excellent poem has been inspired.

Wishing both of you a productive new season as well as a fruitful March doing or enjoying whatever that satisfies you the most, whether aesthetically, physically, intellectually or spiritually!

May you have a lovely weekend!

      Yours sincerely,
      SoundEagle

      1. Thanks so much, wishing you the same. Have a great weekend too.

  15. This gentleman looks like he has a lot on his mind. I have heard of James Dean, but I haven’t seen any of his movies. Your poem is nice. It fits the character well.

    1. Thanks so much. The image reminded me of James Dean’s character because he was a troubled youth in the movie.

      1. What are some of the movies he was in? I want to look them up on YouTube.

        1. Rebel without A Cause, Giant and East Of Eden are some of his more popular movies.

  16. I like the poem. I haven’t watched the movie though.

    1. Thanks so much. Didn’t love the movie so I wouldn’t recommend it.

  17. Everyone should have a cause. There’s so much to rebel against!!

  18. a rebel will not conform
    to what is deemed norm
    but crash and burn
he was too dumb to learn

      1. tis the ides of march. and caesar is on the tube. they conspire to carve him up! oh oh!

      2. it s a bad sign when librarians make such noises.

  19. amazing and stunning lines

    1. Thank you so much.

  20. This pic is pretty awesome, it looks like he has a few regrets or maybe just a headache. Is he a happy rebel? Is he one of the lost generation kids? A hero or a villain? Whatever the answer is he is likable guy. I haven’t seen a movie

    1. Thanks so much. Yeah, I think he’s likeable and relatable. One of the lost generation kids.

      1. Well, I can definitely summarize

  21. Great poem. I have not yet seen ‘Rebel without a Cause’ but now feel compelled to!

    1. Thanks so much. It’s not the best movie but I think watching it once is worth it. I just found it a little slow lol.

      1. My pleasure!

  22. can’t recall the movie…but your words capture the image so well…seeing the blue jeans and white shirt too lol 🤭😁

    1. Thanks so much, it’s funny that it’s black and white but we still imagined the same outfit 😅

  27. Hi Pooj 👋🏾. I have a very soft spot for rebels and underdogs 🌸

    1. Same here, rebels are my favourite kind of people 😀

  28. What do youthful rebels look like these days?

When I saw the picture I immediately could see James Dean (and I am a generation after his passing) but I think most people born in this century won’t feel this.

    1. Yeah, I saw it too but I know most people these days don’t know James Dean or Rebel Without A Cause.

  29. Wonderful poem

    1. Thank you 💕

  30. I wanted to be a rebel without a cause but only made it to a rebel without a clue.

    1. I turned into a rebel with too many causes to keep up…
