Keep Moving (A Motivational Guest Post)

Keep Moving

Nobody is there yet. And yet, all along the road, you’ll meet people comfortably seated, waving banners signalling they’ve arrived.

Keep moving.

You will meet those who constantly update everyone around them on everything going on in their lives. Books they’re reading, trending movies, a new chapter in their lives, heartbreak from a promising relationship.

Observe. Take note. Keep moving.

There are many travelers on this journey bubbling with hurts and stories. Everyone is eager to share a story, very few willing to listen.

The listening ear not only picks up sounds, voices, but also great friends.

And there’s that point in the road littered with corpses of travelers just like you, eager to get somewhere. And you wonder, if that’s the & somewhere & they’ve been toiling to get.

Stop and ponder.

But do not let this discourage you from pressing on, from giving a helping hand to a weary soul, from carrying tired children on your shoulders.

Does the destination really matter if you are obsessed with enjoying every bit of the journey?

    1. Yeah, so true. Thank you, Shivatje♥️

  7. That does sound like a difficult journey. I like your expression: “bubbling with hurts and stories [but] everyone is eager to share a story, very few willing to listen. ” Yes, true — very few are willing to listen.
I saw on your website that in anticipation of a move to Accra, you thought it might be wise to learn a few words in Ga. I was curious to know what Google translate might do trying to translate English to Ga. I got a strange result trying to do a short English passage. I did English to Ga and then took that Ga and translated back to English with Google:
    On the way to Accra
    the acrid expressions
    turn to smiles, but
is it just the laugh of the hyena?

Yɛ gbɛ ni yaa Accra lɛ nɔ
    wiemɔi ni mli wa lɛ
    tsɔ ŋmɔlɔ mli, shi
ani eji ŋmei lɛ ŋmɔlɔ kɛkɛ?

    On the way to Accra
    the harsh words
    through a smile, though
is it just the smell of the tooth?

    1. Doug, thank you ♥️. We need to learn to listen to people. Thank you for visiting my blog and for taking the time to check out the Ga language… It’s a complicated language indeed😄

  8. Very well written Benjamin.

      1. You write very well my friend

  9. I guess we’re all on a journey with no destination in sight. Giving a helping hand is the best we can do.

    1. Sure, Opher ♥️. Thanks for your comments.

  10. The journey is what’s important. All growth comes by embracing it. Great guest post..

    1. Thank you, Festo♥️. Indeed, growth comes by embracing life as a journey of lessons.

  11. Beautifully written, and I agree we must keep moving forward. A journey is just that meaning the act of traveling or passage. Our journey through life is what we make it.

    1. Thank you, Eugi♥️. True, our journey through life is what we make it. Thanks for stopping by.

      1. You’re welcome, Benjamin.

  12. not sure why but WP unsubscribed me so I subscribed again

    1. That’s so odd but thanks for letting me know and resubscribing.

  13. Like the chorus of the post, and the sensibility of not being distracted by others’ balances of sharing/not sharing. You can’t really weigh what things matter without knowing someone for a long time, I think.

    1. Thank you, Stephanie ♥️. True, we cannot really weigh what things matter without knowing someone for a long time.

  14. Keep moving is a family motto, so I really loved this poem. No matter what, we just keep moving. Thank you for sharing Benjamin’s poem, Pooja.

    1. Happy to share it. Keep moving is a good motto to have, sometimes we have to just keep moving till something changes.

  15. Great motivation, Benjamin, and thanks for the introduction, Pooja! Keep moving is good advice! 💞

    1. Thank you, Lauren♥️

  16. Marvellous, Benjamin, and highly observant. Beautifully articulated.

But is there not an alternative view? When one realises that there is, in fact, no destination, is it not time to let others pass you by? Is it not possible that all of those stories were just noise blocking out the silence and the crowd pushing forward to nowhere just a screen blocking out your view and hiding the mystery of nothingness?

And so when everyone is screaming into your ear, “this is the way! this is the way!” perhaps it is time to stop moving forward, to rotate your vision through 360 degrees and realise that every direction is forward and leads inevitably to where you already are and where you have been all along.

Perhaps then it is time to stand still like the hummingbird.

    1. Wow, Richmond, this is deep. Very insightful and worth reading over slowly, carefully. Thank you for your time and your thoughts, Richmond❤️
