About This Six Word Story:

As most of you know by now, I’ve been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder since I was a teenager. And as most people that have mental health disorders will tell you, it never fully goes away. Of course, there are ways to reduce the symptoms and live your best life despite them but they do sometimes come back.

Compared to a decade ago, my symptoms are much better and for the most part manageable in my day to day life. However, I think my anxiety was at an all time high last year with everything else going on in my life. And so some of the symptoms starting getting worse especially towards the end of the year when I was more burnt out.

In 2026 though, I decided enough was enough. No matter what I wasn’t going to let anxiety ruin my life. So, I got back into meditating and breathing exercises. I’ve found that breathing exercises helps so much with anxiety attacks and actually even help to stop them in their tracks. And that’s what inspired this SWS.

Do you struggle with anxiety? What did you think of this six word story? Let me know in the comments section located below because I would absolutely love to hear from you. Or simply stop by and say hi! And do share your own SWS in the comments too!

  1. Oh, such a powerful SWS. Meditation has helped me so much so I love hearing how effective it has been for you too! So good, Pooja!

    1. Thank you! Meditation is wonderful, I had gotten out of the habit in 2025 but so glad I’m getting back into it this year.

  2. Hopefully, I can stand back up!

    1. Sometimes you just have to roll for a while till you can stand back up lol!

  3. And…no corpse around. This time. 🙂

    1. This time… 😅

  4. And then do the Hokey Cokey

  5. This lowers my blood pressure. 👍🏻

      1. 😊 Happy weekend, Pooja.

        1. Happy weekend, have an awesome one 😊

  6. I definitely used to suffer from debilitating anxiety. Breathing helps as does checking in with myself. Am I getting enough sleep, am Ieatingproperly, have I been taking my supplements, how have I been speaking to myself, have I been getting some exercise, have I been taking care not to be around people who stress me out, am I keeping my distance from other sources of stress? Many things to keep in balance.

Seems like you have been working on keeping your own inner balance. Some weeks are harder and some are easier.

    1. Those are all so important to check in on, I’ve noticed not getting enough sleep really ups my anxiety. Absolutely, it comes and goes but we can learn to live with the symptoms and try to ease them.

  7. Relax… the world doesn’t own you.

    1. Love that SWS, so true.

  8. Can relate to a lot of this

    1. Unfortunately, so many of us deal with anxiety.

      1. Meditation twice daily is part of how I manage. No drugs or alcohol… unless it is prescribed by a doctor who will actually remember who I am and that they prescribed. Meditation brings a lot of cycles back into sync… like sleep, metabolism, habits and choices

        1. I’m so glad it helps with addiction issues, it really does help get you back in sync.

          1. Been a while for me since early recovery and all those things that come up. I started meditating about 9 years ago so I was already 17 years sober and on program. Still, once an alcoholic always an alcoholic. I have often said that if I have done one thing right in recovery it has been to not get too well too quick. Our relationship with a higher power is the most important step and all my sponsors instilled that in my. I was 25 years sober and living outdoors. Maybe not program for high bottoms, but those of us who have been less than zero… life gives us what we need according to spiritual life and mission

  9. 🙏🧘🏼‍♂️

    Aum Shanti

  10. Congratulations on a great start to 2026. Thanks for the reminder to focus on breathing.

Magic ended. Imagination was the rescue.

    1. Thanks so much and love that SWS.

      1. 🥰😍🥰

  13. Those are a good less for anybody anxiety or not. I have a couple family members that struggle with anxiety. I think many people do but not to a degree where it becomes an issue. That is the kicker when it is hard to turn it off and the worse thing to hear from others, are things like let it go, don’t worry about it, forget it…..

    1. Yeah, I think most people do experience anxiety at times but it becomes an issue when it’s constant. Unfortunately, so many of us hear that. I generally reply, “no way I never considered that.” Lol.

  14. Anxiety is like a mountain – You climb to the top, it’s hard, the effort is enormous, you overcome it and the sense of achievement is wonderful. What you have to avoid at all costs is allowing it to win. The more you push yourself and conquer it the easier it gets.
    Breath in Breath out, live.

    1. Totally agree!

  15. Deep, mindful breathing offers real relief during anxiety’s grip. Wishing you gentle strength and wellness, dear Pooja

    1. Yes, it helps a lot. Thanks so much.

  16. Meditation, and deep breathing help, and also I bury myself in music. Love the six word, Pooja.

    1. Oh yeah, music helps so much too. Thanks so much.

      1. You’re welcome, Pooja.

  18. Breath easy, nobody’s dead, nobody’s bleeding. Or. Be calm, we can fix this. 🤣😎🙃

  21. Breathing really does help when I get too much in my head about things. Just got to remember to do it 😅

Thank you so much for sharing! It’s a good reminder!

    1. I used to be that way too, it’s something we have to turn into a habit. Thank you!

  22. out bad air, in with good
(inspired by your work and a cartoon)

I do struggle with anxiety. I meet with a counselor and have various meds. I’m doing better, but you’re right to note it doesn’t ever go away, certainly not fully. Your story and the image go smoothly together. Deep breathing, of course, is therapeutic. Hope you’re doing all right. Hope it’s not too hot.

    1. Hopefully, you’ll be able to move soon and get some good air. I’m glad you’re doing better, medication helps a lot. Thanks so much, yes I’m well and the weather is pretty bearable right now.

  23. You’re so tenacious! This graphic showed up before, I think. Is it a class?

    1. Yes, I’ve been sharing it this week. It’s a 90 minute workshop for transpersonal hypnotherapy which helps with healing the nervous system, stress, habit changing and more. It’s the same person I had my distance reiki session with 🙂 You can read the details here: https://lightsoulholistic.com/beyond-relaxation-an-introduction-to-transpersonal-hypnotherapy/

      1. Oh, I see. I hadn’t put the two together. Interesting, and thanks. 🙂

  24. I haven’t been diagnosed with anxiety but i do thing that i may have some sort of an anxiety disorder. Sometimes, it seems as though it’s not there anymore until something triggers my anxiety again

    1. Yeah, you may have a mild anxiety disorder. Knowing how to deal with those symptoms when they occur definitely helps. Try breathing exercises, they really make a difference.

      1. Sure. Will try that. Thank you

  25. Regular exercise and good diet goes a long way toward a cure. Sometimes a little medication for a while is needed to get on top of it.

    1. Yes, very much so.

  26. I struggle with anxiety. Somatic breathwork helps me to connect with myself throughout the day. It can also help with panic attacks.

    1. It does help a lot to calm our body and mind. So sorry you struggle with anxiety too, I know how much it can suck.

  27. […] So, a massive congratulations to P. J. Gudka! We encourage everyone to head over and read her incredible blog post (and perhaps even pick up a copy of her new book!). You can find it at [Blog https://lifesfinewhine.ca/ and post https://lifesfinewhine.ca/2026/01/15/six-word-story-226/ […]

  28. I should follow the advice this short’s giving me

    1. Works for me 🙂

  29. Some days are better than others
If I ignore politics / wars / conflicts and, most of all, family drama, I can keep sane. These days I wanna be a cat sleeping in the corner minding my own business

    1. I can relate, I tend to just tune everything out these days.

  30. Anxiety grows and has the ability to cripple for sure. It’s like a big, slimy monster who grabs your attention and won’t let go.

I feel your pain and thankfully it looks like you have come a long way.

    1. SWS: Big slimy monster won’t let go…

Talk to Jesus He offers peace!

      🤗

      1. Love those SWS! 🤗

    2. So true, that’s exactly what it feels like. Thank you, I have come so much further than I ever thought possible.

  31. Inhale deeply, and then exhale bullshit. lol 🙂

    1. Lol my mantra for 2026 🤭
