How To Schedule Your Posts On WordPress

I have been meaning to do this post for quite a while now because I had a couple of requests on my comments section asking me for it. So sorry it took forever. Here is how to schedule your posts on WordPress:

Part 1:

I thought I would write the first part of this blog on how to actually schedule your post. WordPress can be a little tricky sometimes to get the hang of and I thought I would share this post first to help new bloggers learn how they can schedule their posts. The next post will be about the benefits of scheduling your post as well as how to schedule the perfect times for your post to get more views and follows.

  1. Once you are done writing your post on your dashboard go to the right side of the screen where it says “publish” and select the “edit” button.

2. Next pick the time and date you would like the post to be published.

3. After picking the time and date click the “OK” button.

4. After clicking ‘OK’ you will notice that blue button that usually says ‘Publish’ will have changed to ‘Schedule’. Click on the ‘Schedule’ button and this will complete the process of scheduling your post.

Let me know in the comments if this was helpful!

  1. 🙂 I have been scheduling my blog posts for ages.

Also, I would like to thank you for teaching other bloggers how they can schedule their blog posts for a future date.

  2. Thanks for the post! Just the other day I was thinking that I should start scheduling my posts as I will be busier and busier in the next year! Can’t wait to read part 2! 😊

    1. I came here straight from one of your recent posts, I’ve never tried scheduling posts, I rather just pile them up in my notes app and publish when I feel like.
However, this seems quite helpful especially in busy times but I’ve always had a bother…
If I schedule a post let’s say in two hours time, do I need internet connection before it goes online or it’s automatic?
I’ll be awaiting a keen response PoojaG! Thanks.

      1. Yeah the post will go up even if you’re not online or signed in! Hope this helps with the consistency- this way you can post at the exact same time.

  3. Once I learned how to do this, it was a godsend. My publishing times became much more predictable and my readership was better for it. I highly recommend bloggers using this tool!

  4. It’s great when it works like it is supposed to. However, I have found that in only works about 70% of the time. Not sure if you have noticed or not, but there are times where it doesn’t post when it is supposed to and you actually have to go to the scheduled post to get WordPress to trigger the scheduled post. Kind of frustrating when you know it should have posted and you’re waiting for the post notification and it never comes.

      1. That’s good. It could be the time you are choosing to post. I have noticed that if I post at the top of the hour that it happens more frequently (likely because their autopost sweeper is busier at those times) than when I post say a couple minutes before/after the top of the hour. It still happens, but less frequently then.

  5. I knew how to do this already, but I’m not sure I know when is the best time to post. I live in a strange timezone that’s neither here nor there.

  6. I calculated that I need to schedule 43 blog posts in advance for next year to stay as active as I am now. So far my blog posts have been scattered and on a whim, but I do use the schedule in advance feature to schedule my times. Because I’m a night owl, I often write posts at 11pm but my optimum time is during the day (between 11am And 1pm) so I usually end up scheduling it for the next day!

    1. Haha I’m the same way and love to do my writing at night but post at 6 am so I definitely need to schedule my posts- there’s no way I’m getting up that early!
