Recently, we visited Boho Eatery, a beautiful restaurant located in Nairobi. I’ve been there before last year but decided to go back with my cousins as they had never been there. And as always, I wanted to virtually take you guys with me so I decided to share my Boho Eatery Review. If you want to read the first one I shared when I went with my sister and bestie, please click here.
You can watch the video version of this Boho Eatery review on my YouTube Channel:
The Ambiance
The ambiance is so beautiful. As soon as you walk in, you’re surrounded by plants all around. If you’re a fan of nature like I am, you know this sort of place just makes you feel so good. We decided to sit on the swing because we had sat there last time and loved it. The roof is covered with plants and you can see into the garden from it too. Of course, we took a bunch of pictures while we waited for the server. You’ll rarely see me wearing shorts but it had been so hot that week I knew I wouldn’t be able to wear anything else. I’m glad I wore shorts because I may have died of a heatwave had I worn pants lol.
Boho Eatery is pet friendly so you see a lot of people bringing in their pets (mostly dogs) which is so fun. I absolutely love dogs and this one was so friendly.
We ordered drinks and our food and while we waited for everything to arrive, we decided to explore the garden. My sister and I had already done that but it was new to our cousins. I love this old school van they have, it’s giving the sixties hippies. I think they serve drinks from it after 5 pm but not too sure about that. There were also so many lovely flowers and plants everywhere. It’s such a vibrant garden, to be honest these pictures don’t do it justice. It’s even more beautiful in person.
The Menu
I decided to share pictures of their menu because although they have this one up on their site, I think it hasn’t been updated because many of the dishes mentioned there were not available on the menu they gave us. And some new ones were available. So, if you decide to visit Boho Eatery, look through this menu instead of the one on their site.
The Drinks
We got our drinks fairly quickly. And next we got some roasted almonds. Everything was delicious. The drinks were so cooling and perfect for the hot weather. My younger cousin and I got Passion Fruit & Mint Iced Tea while my other cousin brother got some soda. My sister got the Sweet Basil & Hibiscus Iced Tea.
The Food
Now, onto the main event- the food. We started with some Shiitake and Tofu Dumplings. My sister and I had them last time when we went with my friend and we loved them so we decided to order them again. They were so delicious and have a pretty strong flavour because of the garlic. I would really recommend these if you’re a fan of dumplings. The skin was so soft and thin while the insides were bursting with the flavourful filling.
For the main course, we got the Miso Mushroom Ramen, Honeycomb Tofu (came with a side of sticky rice), Butter Panner Bunny Chow and Sweet Potato Tacos. Everything was incredible. Like seriously, some of the best food I’ve ever had at a restaurant. It was so good we finished everything (and it was quite a lot). Not one scrap of food was left.
The ramen had such a deep, earthy flavour from the mushrooms. The tacos were well seasoned. The tofu was simple but so delicious. It went perfectly with the rice. And the bread and paneer were incredibly soft and flavourful. I loved that even in the vegan and vegetarian dishes, they added lots of protein. Most places just take out the protein in vegan and vegetarian options and don’t replace it. But every dish we ordered here had a good amount of protein. My favourite was the ramen which was my order- I think I chose wisely lol.
For dessert, my sister and I got the vegan cheesecake while my cousins got the baklava which was vegetarian but not vegan. They’re all vegetarian so it was fine for them. They loved it and the cheesecake was as incredible as I remembered it. Seriously one of the best vegan cheesecakes I’ve ever had.
The Service
The service was amazing, our waiter was so nice, friendly and helpful. And I have to say, even though we ordered a lot of stuff, everything was cooked quite fast. We really didn’t have to wait that long for anything. But it tasted so fresh we knew it was freshly made.
Conclusion
Overall, we loved Boho Eatery. The food and drinks were incredible, the service was great and the ambiance was unbeatable. We had the most fabulous time here. The only thing I’ll say is that it’s pretty pricey compared to the restaurants I usually go to. Which I think is fair considering the quality of the foods and drinks they serve. I just can’t go there often because of my budget when eating out (lack of money lol). It’s like a place I go to once a year or so to treat myself. However, if you can afford it do visit Boho Eatery. It’s fantastic and you’ll get your moneys worth even if you spend a little more than you generally would. I genuinely can’t wait to go back next year, lol.
