Answering Your Questions Pt 1

Answering Your Questions Pt 1

I’m back with another podcast episode! Last week, I asked you guys to leave some questions in the comments section that I could answer on my upcoming podcast episode and y’all really did not disappoint. I got so many questions I was only able to answer some in this episode and will be answering the rest in the next episode because I didn’t want it too be too long. Thanks so much for leaving so many questions- they really made me think!

I hope you guys enjoy these answers because I had so much fun answering them. I feel like I’m able to elaborate and properly answer your questions in the podcast since I’m speaking compared to answering them in a post because I kind of have to shorten my answers sometimes because I don’t want my post to be too long. Anyway, I really enjoyed this and I look forward to answering more questions in the next episode. Let me know in the comments if you enjoyed the answers and if you want me to do more of these types of episodes in the future!

You can check out the episode below on any of the six platforms it’s available on. I don’t know why but the sound is a bit low so you may have to turn up the volume a bit- I apologise for any inconvenience caused by that.

Blogger Interview With Compassion

Blogger Interview With Compassion

I want to thank Compassion for joining me for this interview today and I want to encourage everyone to check out her blog because it’s really wonderful. As always her blog will be linked below after the interview.

1. Thanks so much for being a part of this interview. Tell us a little bit about yourself and what your blog is about.

Thank you for having me!

My name is Compassion Clement. I’m a Nigerian (4th year college) student. I’m 22 years old and would be 23 on 30th of June (yaayy). I love writing. I’ve been writing short stories as a kid though they end up in my room.

My blog; Heartstrings, is were I talk about all things LOVE, single hood, relationships, and marriage. I do dabble into other topics too like posts on how to deal with life but mostly they are related..

2. When did you start your blog and what made you decide to start blogging?

I started blogging last year, June 3rd. Yesterday was actually my anniversary. During that time, I was having relationship issues and coupled with the pandemic, I was bored out of my mind. I was always writing in my diary then a thought struck me, why not make it public?

Alot of people I talk to always have something to complain about in their relationship, friendship, marriage, or even as singles. Some have met me seeking for advice and stuff.

(In my mind, I was like yo! I’ve got problems too)

That was when I created the blog, hoping to reach out to people who have issues with loving, relationships, and life generally.

3. You write about a number of topics on your blog- do you have a favourite topic to write about?

Yes I do have a favourite topic. I love writing about Love, how to go about relationships, how to deal with heartbreaks… Stuffs like that.

I even started a series where I talked about love languages. This was after, I observed that my partner wasn’t showing me love the way I wanted it. You can find it here https://passionblogcom.wordpress.com/2020/07/15/love-languages/

Another favorite topic I love to write about is maintaining mental health.

Once or twice I slipped into depression and the feeling wasn’t funny. So I decided to write something about it. You can find it here https://passionblogcom.wordpress.com/2021/05/15/coping-with-depression-8-strategies-to-overcome-depression-without-prescribed-medication/

4. What inspires you to continue blogging?

What inspires me to continue blogging is that I know that somehow, even if its not right now, I’m helping someone out there with one problem or the other.

Also, everyday something new happens in my life. It may be with my partner, my friends, my family, or just me personally. I learn from these things and share my experience just like I did here https://passionblogcom.wordpress.com/2021/05/24/its-been-a-rough-week-%f0%9f%98%aa/

Also, writing on this blog has impacted positively in my life in lots of ways. I no longer bottle things up, my writing has improved, and as someone told me, I’m improving in my command of English Language.

All these inspires me to keep on writing.

5. What are some of your long term goals for blogging?

Every blogger’s goals are more views, more likes, more comments and more followers. Same goes for me too.

Also, I hope to reach out to as many people as I can if not physically then through my blog. To let them know that they are not alone and there are solutions.

Lastly, like I said before, I love writing. Currently I’m writing a novel and I hope to punish it soon.

6. How do you balance blogging and everything else going on in your life?

At some point last year, I stopped blogging because I couldn’t balance it with trying to fend for myself during the pandemic.

But since I resumed school, I received a blogging advice from someone. He said I should schedule my writing so I don’t feel overwhelmed.

So currently, even with going to lectures and stuff, I try to write something new every week.

7. What is your favourite food?

That’s a hard one😂. Well, it’s a traditional one like I told you I’m a Nigerian. So my favourite food is “okro soup and tuwon shinkafa (rice meal)”. Asides that I love noodles and fried eggs. And then shawarma. Let me stop here or the list will keep going…I’m a foodie!

8. Do you prefer spicy or sweet foods?

Sweet foods please.

9. If you could have any superpower what would it be?

I would love to be able to control time.

10. Thanks again and please feel free to add anything you would like to share with the readers.

That’s pretty much all I want to say however, let me say a huge thank you to the reader for coming this far. For creating time out of your busy schedule to read this interview, I’m really grateful for the love.

Also thank you Pooja for this interview. I’m really honored to be here.

Love conquers all!

More Tips For Newer Bloggers

More Tips For Newer Bloggers

Newer Bloggers

I wanted to write a post for newer bloggers since I get a lot of comments and emails from newer bloggers asking for help. I think it’s a lot more difficult to blog when you first start and there are a lot of things you may not even be aware of yet so this kind of post may help you understand the world of blogging a little better.

Of course, this advice is just the tip of the iceberg and obviously there is a lot more to blogging then just the things I mentioned on this blog. I would recommend checking out my other advice posts that you can view by clicking here.

Research

I think the most important thing when it comes to starting anything new is research. As you may or may not know I’m a history major which means that a huge part of my life currently revolves around research and that skill has helped me a lot with blogging too.

There is still so much I don’t know about blogging but what I do know has been extremely beneficial. There are a lot of features that WordPress offers, even in the free plan. Research can help you make use of these features and get the best results possible with them. I made the mistake of not doing a lot of research when I started out and I so regret it now because I’ve had to keep going back to older blog posts and make changes.

I would also recommend doing at least basic research on SEO and SEO optimization because this can be very helpful too. It’s particularly helpful if you are looking to monetize your blog at some point or if one of your goals is to grow your following and traffic.

Stay Safe

I’m not sure why this isn’t mentioned very often in advice posts I see for beginners but I just want to warn everyone that although WordPress in general is a wonderful place it’s important to remember that not everyone has good intentions. There will always be scammers or people trying to take advantage of you so remember to be cautious and stay safe. Don’t give out any personal information, if someone seems weird ignore them and don’t engage.

I also want to warn you to be cautious around members of MLM’s. I don’t want to go into too much detail about what MLM’s are but they are basically scams or pyramid schemes. If someone approaches you and tries to recruit you for an MLM run as fast as you can. So many people fall for scams like this and lose THOUSANDS of dollars of their hard earned money. For more on why MLM’s are the worst you can check out this channel.

There are also a lot of fake brands/companies trying to act like they want to send you free or discount products so be careful of those too. Always do your research before working with anyone. The internet is a scary place and you need to always take care.

Be Patient

I know a lot of us expect to grow our blogs really fast and start earning money and living the dream almost instantly (thanks annoying influencers who make it seem like it’s super easy to achieve that even though it’s obviously not!) but the truth is it takes a while before your blog really starts growing. It sucks but that’s just how it is.

It’s not even about the quality of your posts or anything you’re doing wrong. The truth is that it’s hard to grow your traffic and following overnight since there are so many popular blogs out there already and unfortunately the WP algorithm as well as search engines tend to push whatever is popular instead of what is really great quality content.

BUT being patient has it’s perks. People will begin to notice your posts, search engines tend to place more value on blogs that are older and so does WP’s algorithm. You’ll also get much better at blogging over time so you’ll also learn how to create posts your followers/readers enjoy which will also what will help you grow. Plus, you will have found your niche/niches which also helps a lot.

Consistency

I feel like this one goes hand-in-hand with being patient so I wanted to add it here too. A lot of people tend to give up after a few months, weeks or even a few days when they don’t see any results. Don’t do this. It takes a while to get results and if you don’t blog consistently you will never see the results you are looking for on any platform.

Another issue is that people don’t always blog on a schedule which can often be an issue. Your readers will expect you to post at certain times and if you don’t post at those times they will probably think you stopped blogging and move on to a different blog that does post consistently. Even if you can’t post very often try to have some kind of schedule. Like if you post once a week post on the same day and same time every week. Many of your readers may not be following your blog so they won’t know when you have posted something new automatically. If you post at the same times they will know when to check out your blog. This will keep your readers coming back which in turn will help you grow.

I know that it’s not always possible to post on a schedule- even after years of blogging I still find it difficult to do but there are some tricks you can use when you don’t have a post ready. You can reblog posts you have read from other bloggers that you find interesting, you can reblog older posts of your own or you can share something simple like a nice quote or YouTube video. Just make sure you post something!

Final Thoughts

I hope you found this post helpful. If you did please let me know in the comments below and let me know if you would like a part two of this post or if there is any specific type of advice post you would like me to share in the coming weeks.

What advice would you give new bloggers? Are you a new blogger? If so, how are you liking blogging so far? What advice do you wish you had known when you first started blogging? How is your day going? Mine is going terrible thanks for asking… Tell me your answers in the comments below or simply stop by and say hi- I don’t bite I swear that’s just a rumour!

Six Word Story

Six Word Story

“Truth” is sometimes just silly shibboleth’s.

Inspired by a lot of what I’ve learnt in my history courses. A lot of what was widely believed as truth is often proven to be nothing more than popular beliefs with little or no actual evidence. It has a lot to do with social norms, the benefits of these “truths” and more. Is there anything you believed fully that turned out to be untrue? Let me know in the comments below.

Today’s Word:

Shibboleth

1.aa word or saying used by adherents of a party, sect, or belief and usually regarded by others as empty of real meaning
ba widely held belief
cTRUISMPLATITUDE
2.aa use of language regarded as distinctive of a particular group
ba custom or usage regarded as distinguishing one group from others

More about the word.

Don’t forget to leave your six word reply in the comments because I always love reading them or simply stop by and say hi!

A Favour

A Favour

I know this post is late but I had a test yesterday and I was out most of today and just got home so I didn’t have time to post.

Anyway, I have a favour to ask you guys… it’s nothing weird I swear! So, I thought it would be fun if you guys left questions in the comments section that I could answer in my next podcast. It would be a fun way to interact. I’ve done posts with questions and answers but I thought it would be more fun to answer them on the podcast since I can elaborate and answer them properly. Thanks in advance for the questions and feel free to ask anything it doesn’t have to be about blogging!

Can’t wait to share what I did today with you guys really soon! It was such an amazing experience.

Don’t Tell People With Mental Health Problems This

Don’t Tell People With Mental Health Problems This

Lifesfinewhine

Mental Health Awareness Month

As you guys know May is Mental Health Awareness Month and therefore I decided to write posts about mental health this whole week. Today I decided to post about “Things You Need To Stop Telling People With Mental Health Problems” because a lot of people may not know how to talk to someone who suffers from mental health problems. Some people may accidentally say something insensitive without realizing it’s insensitive. I thought I would share the things people say most often and why they are the wrong thing to say. Let me know in the comments what the weirdest/most insulting thing someone has told you about your mental health.

“Get over it”

If it was thateasy do you think we wouldn’t have just gotten over it? This is a really sad thing to say and if anything it just shows how ignorant you are about…

5 Thoughts Every Blogger Has

5 Thoughts Every Blogger Has

Read this super relatable post the other day and thought I would share it with you guys 🙂

Happy Panda

My friends say – blogging is a fun hobby. But is it really? Anyone who has been blogging for a few months will know that it can get stressful when the stats aren’t flowing and the likes aren’t coming. I love how blogging has provided me with an outlet for my feelings and thoughts but at the same time I hate how at the end of every week I obsess over not getting a lot of views (considering I really don’t do anything to promote my blog). There are a few recurring thoughts that I think while blogging. These thoughts range from happy to sad to envious to downright evil.

Here are some thoughts that I have pretty often and hope other bloggers can relate –

  1. After every post – “Why did I get only 60 likes despite having 1000 followers? Did the others follow me and immediately disappear from…
