An Update On My Meeting With WordPress

An Update On My Meeting With WordPress

I had the meeting with an employee from WordPress/Automattic. We had already chatted via email to set up the meeting and it was nice to chat in person. In my opinion, he asked very relevant questions and also took the time to hear me out. I mentioned all the points I had noted down as well as the suggestions I got from you guys on my last post about the meeting. The meeting was related to themes and in particular the new feature of making/creating your own themes. But he heard me out about other suggestions I had too that were not theme related. Shoutout to James for the great meeting!

Overall, I think the meeting was very productive and I was able to properly talk to him about how I think WordPress can be improved. Now, whether or not they implement my suggestions is up to them. I’m just glad they took the time to listen which is something I think they didn’t do enough of in the past. But it seems they are trying to turn over a new leaf and do a better job of connecting with users and asking for feedback instead of randomly implementing changes that we have no say in. I think this is a great step in the right direction and can only hope they continue to take their users seriously. As much as we need this platform, they need us too. So, I think it needs to be a give and take where we try to cooperate with one another.

  1. Yay! Praying!

    1. Yay indeed, I’m excited for this new chapter with WP!

  2. Well…one step at a time…baby steps are a good sign that things have changed

    1. I think so too, I think they’re trying to go in the right direction.

  3. 🙂 While it is nice to have a face-to-face conversation with a WordPress employee, the final decision lies with the big bosses over at Automattic.

    1. I very much agree. It’s still nice to at least be listened to and I hope they take some of the suggestions into account.

  4. A face to face meeting? Sounds cool! I hope they implement some of your ideas. Who better to help improve WP than the users of WP

    1. Yeah, it went really well and I fell like it was quite productive! True, I think those of us who actually use the platform regularly can give them better input on how to improve it.

  5. Voicing your opinion to Word press was a Good step taken by you Pooja!

    1. Thanks so much!

  6. Sounds like a successful first step. Bravo to you for being proactive. Pooja the blogger ambassador!

    1. Yeah!!!

Pooja as ambassador sounds just right

    2. Happy to do so, it’s nice to finally have a voice when it comes to changes on the platform!

  7. That’s good news. They should listen and respond to suggestions from their clients

    1. Absolutely, I think that’s a great step in the right direction.

      1. Very right. I hope they implement your suggestions

        1. I hope so too, I think it could really help improve our experience as users.

          1. I agree 👍🏼👍🏼🩵

  8. Thanks for making headway and making progress Pooja! I thought of a few more and now I’ve forgotten what they are now.. 💖

    1. If you remember let me know because I can still email him the suggestions! I did mention what you said about the likes 😊

      1. Will do thanks Pooja and glad you mentioned the likes. That would make all of our lives easier !💕

        1. Yeah, I think it would save us all so much time!

          1. For sure.. now let’s hope they see that💞

  9. Hamari neta kaisi ho Pooja G jaisi ho!

And I’m not going to translate that 😅

Good thing, need you as the voice of voiceless

    1. Lol, I know enough Hindi to understand that 😅
Happy to be a voice for us, at least that way we have a voice.

      1. ओह!! अब यह समझ नहीं आएगा। 😅

Expecting to see some good changes.

Good thing you interacted with them. I can think of only you as a blogger who actually cares. Others don’t get affected with such stuff, they will probably just stop and find other interface if things goes haywire.

        1. I think for me it’s that I rely on WordPress as well and I need it which makes me care a lot more about the platform lol.

    1. My pleasure!

  10. Glad this time went so well. I for one would be happy if they would just leave stuff alone that isn’t broken. the constant background tinkering is killing me.
I just found out that featured images no longer take precedence in the wp reader. It just shows whatever pictures WP feels like including from my post.

I’m tired of re-learning how to flipping use WP on a monthly basis….

    1. Yeah, I know how frustrating that is. And especially since we never get a heads up or a pop-up telling us how to properly use new features. It’s something I did mention, but let’s see if they listen.

  11. At least they were reaching out. That’s good.

    1. Yeah, I think it’s a step in the right direction.

  12. Im.happy the meeting went well. It’s a step in the right direction. 💙👏

    1. Thanks and yeah I definitely think so 😊

  13. so glad your meeting went well. Hopefully, we will all benefit from it!

    1. Thanks so much and I hope so too!

  14. Hopefully they really do take your input into consideration. The best suggestions do come from the very bloggers who are affected by the features

    1. I hope so too, I think it would help them to listen to their users.

  15. Well, good work. Great work, really. You talked, you were heard, and then you heard and the talking went on. I think it was a gathering of intelligence as well as hope in progress (i.e., improvement). Thanks for doing everything to have this conversation arranged.

    1. Thanks so much. I agree, I think they’re gathering information and I hope that it helps them improve and make our experience better.

  16. Give Them Hell Pooja !! 🤣😎🙃

    1. Lol, thanks! 😅

  17. Thank you, Pooja, you are doing a lot for us. I hope WordPress improves soon. You are doing a lot, and I appreciate your effort😊🥰🙏

    1. I hope they do too and thanks! 😊

  18. Congratulations! Hope it makes a difference!

    1. Thanks and hope so too!

      1. Taking a bit of time off. Not ignoring anyone.

        1. No problem, I totally understand. Enjoy your time off.

  19. Glad the meeting went well. Thanks for representing!

    1. Thanks so much and happy to do that!

  20. Way to represent, Pooja! ✊🏽

    1. Happy to, let’s hope they listen!

  21. Yay! It’s nice the WP employee listened to you, and I hope they are turning over a new leaf. Like you mentioned they need us as much as we need them. Thank you for sharing your experience, Pooja.

    1. I hope so, I also mentioned that they should tell us before retiring a theme so hopefully they will in the future! Absolutely, it’s a two way street and they need us too.

      1. They just removed another new FSE theme. It’s really odd because they add a new FSE theme that is very similar to the one they removed. I moved both of my blogs back to a classic theme until the FSE themes are stable. As I mentioned to another blogger, enough is enough.

        1. I completely understand that, I think it’s better not to have an FSE theme till they’re done replacing the older ones. I think they make new ones to update the old ones and get rid of bugs etc. But I still feel they need to talk to those using those themes first before getting rid of them.

          1. Thank you, Pooja.

            1. You’re welcome, hope they improve communication with users.

  22. I’m so glad the meeting went well; hope they listen!

    1. Thanks so much!

  23. Great milestone from wordpress and thanks to you Pooja for making it progress.

    1. Thanks so much, I’m very happy with the progress so far.

  24. Progress! Also, what you said is true. They need to listen to their users

    1. I think this is a great step in the right direction and true, it would be great if they listened to their users more. They need us as much as we need them.

  25. That’s great! Hopefully they listen and tell their higher ups

    1. Thanks and I really hope so too!

  26. That’s good to hear! Thanks for sharing w us.

    1. Thanks and happy to share the update. I really hope they listen and make at least a few changes.

  27. Great! Did he say if he would inform you on the decisions you suggested? I hope the change is for the better, and that everyone will benefit from it in a good way.

    1. Yes, he said he would so I really hope they make some positive changes soon.

  28. Nice to see they are willing to consider constructive criticism.

    1. Yeah, I was glad they’re at least hearing us out.

  29. No company can excel without customer support and feedback. They should listen to customer feedback if they want to grow.

    1. Absolutely, I think if a company wants to retain their users they need to listen to them.

  30. It’s so important when companies take the time to listen to their users and value their feedback. I’m glad they are making an effort to connect and improve. Your blog is a great resource for WordPress enthusiasts, keep up the great work!

    1. I absolutely agree, it’s vital for companies to communicate and listen to their users. It can really help improve their platform. Thanks so much!

      1. You are welcome

  31. agreed wordpress needs its user. It was a step forward in meeting/listening to you. Lets see if they will take action based on the suggestions

    1. Yeah, I think it’s a step in the right direction and I really hope they take the suggestions into account.

  32. Look at you, changing the online world!! Brava!!!

    1. Aw, thank you!

  33. It’s a shame it took their business starting to fail for them to wake up. There are so many free blogging platforms now with better features I don’t know if they can save it.

    1. Yeah, it sucks that it took them till they were losing money to realise that. And yeah, it’s too late as many have already moved to other platforms and I don’t think they plan on coming back even if it gets better on WordPress.

  34. wordpress.com as all social medias program is to make the company$$$$$$$, and their creative and financial programs are centered on company 1st *&* staff second, and the members from zero-to-the hole-in-the-doughnut again. However, their interview with Pooja G is a positive of trying to go in the right way for their members, but talk for the company without more isakin to a Benz with no motor; because without more ‘talk is cheap, money buy land. For writers aspiring to become an author is for wordpress.com to impliment a publishing platform tohave their book published and promoted for 15% of the proceeds. We must remember without paying members wordpress.com goesout of business as well as any social media, and wordpress.com knows this but they count on members being ignorant to it, and therefore members aren’t without power to have help programs implimented and wordpress.com will implimentsuch programs that make it more money and at the same time benefit their cash paying members!

    1. I think all platforms concentrate on money but forget that their users is why they make money. I’m glad WP is making an effort to connect with users.

      1. I am glad as well Pooja G!

    1. Thanks so much 😊
