5 Tricks That Will Get You Followers

Blogging For Dummies

Be consistent– Consistency is seriously important when blogging. It helps your readers know when your post is going to go up, whether you are still active because some people quit blogging after a while and you can schedule your posts for the optimum time so as to reach the maximum number of readers.I know it’s not always possible when you have things going on in life but I would highly recommend trying to schedule your posts in such a way that you are posting at the same time every day/week. What I personally like to do is write my posts in advance so that I don’t have to worry about it throughout the week when I’m preoccupied with university. Posting regularly makes a huge difference and will definitely help you increase your followers/traffic. To learn how to schedule your posts for maximum reach click here.

Tags- I know I say this in like every other post but tags are SO IMPORTANT. The perfect amount would be about 4-6 because if you use more than 10 WordPress automatically removes your post from the tags section on the reader and classifies your post as spam. If the tags are too few you will not reach your optimum audience. Also remember to use broader tags like “food” instead of “salad” because statistically more people are likely to search for broader topics than very specific ones. Stay active- staying active is also extremely important. WordPress is very much a two way street and if you want to expand your blog you are going to have be active on other blogs. And I want to specify that by being active I do not mean spamming them with “follow my blog here’s a link” comments because the only thing that will achieve is you annoying potential followers/readers. By being active I mean read other blogs (preferably those that blog about similar topics as they are more likely to follow you) and leave likes, share their posts and leave genuine comments about the post. Popular topics- I highly encourage everyone to write about things they are passionate about however if there are certain topics that are more popular than others. If you’re comfortable with it try checking what topics are trending that day and post about those topics to increase views and follows. And find out what topics are most popular on WordPress and write on those- remember use their tag them too!

Be unique- there are literally thousands of bloggers out there from all over the world which means that most topics have been written on, most challenges have been done and readers can easily find thousands of posts on very popular topics. However, showing your readers that you have something unique to offer will really help grow your blog. Try out something new that you haven’t seen a lot of bloggers doing, write about unique experiences or topics that you haven’t seen on other blogs.  I know I just said popular topics get a lot of views but sometimes people are sick of seeing the same thing over and over again which is when they begin looking for something new and will likely end up finding your blog. I honestly believe that if you are writing from the heart they will appreciate your writing.

  1. Consistency and staying active is so important. What’s extra crazy is that I always see a spike in traffic on the days that my posts go up, but I don’t necessarily see traffic that is attributed to that post.
Also, being general with tags is a great tip. I’ve def noticed a drop off with WP direct traffic as I’ve started to use more niche tags.
As always, thanks for sharing, Pooja!!!

    1. I read that too but every time I use more than 10 WordPress removes my posts from the tag section so I tend to recommend things that work for myself but of course I highly recommend doing whatever number works for your blog!

      1. I’ve hard tags and categories work the same but I think tags are prob better. I’ve been using categories cause it’s easier to check a box than write a tag! I think I need to revamp my system. Thank you for getting me thinking about this! 👍

        1. You’re welcome! I think tags are better too because it helps you get on the tags section which can bring in more traffic.

        1. You absolutely can and I would highly recommend doing so it will add you to the tags section of the reader even if the post is old!

  2. This is really good. I’m not doing a lot of any of these at the moment and needed the reminder of my 2020 goal of consistent posting!

  3. Now I just have to get passionate about popular topics. 😉
I don’t really have my finger on the pulse of what’s hot on WordPress. I seem to get exponentially more views, likes, comments, and subscriptions from posts where I just rant about my feelings. I’ve heard about this from YouTubers, too. They get depressed because their videos in which they spent hours upon hours writing and editing get almost no attention but then they post a 10 minute rant that they recorded in one afternoon and it blows up. Lol.
Maybe we should create some scripted WordPress drama. Wanna get in a fake fight? 😉 jk

  4. Hi, could you write on how one can quickly find out the popular topics?
In my opinion, using Twitter, and reading the news, is one way?

  5. Consistency is certainly the bulk of the blogging job. I’m also a huge believer in firsthand experiences because they actually add a unique touch to your content. That way, even if you’re talking about your visit to a beach, it’ll be only from your point of view. A uniqueness that can never be imitated on the internet.
    Thanks for sharing PoojaG!

    1. Glad you enjoyed the post! I agree consistency is important and I also love reading posts from the bloggers point of view because that’s what makes it unique!

  6. Great advice! Thank you for sharing this. As someone who has been away from the blogging world for quite a while, this is a good refresher to read as I get started again!

  7. I think the hardest part is consistency because it’s harder to meet your blog post schedule when you’re facing a block, something that I’ve been going through regularly. Any tips on how to get over a writer’s block or write inspite of it?

    1. I think what worked for me is just keeping on writing even when you feel like you have nothing to write about. Just don’t give up on writing!

  8. Thank you for these great tips! I love how you are so willing to share and help other bloggers grow. There aren’t too many people out there who want to share their secrets. Ha!

    1. You’re totally welcome and yeah people really don’t put this information out there which is why I felt the need to share it! For me I feel like it’s selfish to keep it to myself .

  9. Thanks for this post Pooja, it was really helpful. I really do need to be more consistent and schedule my blog posts. Thanks

  10. Can I just say again, that you give THE best tips ever? It makes me want to do it all religiously and not fail you. I know, creepy for a person that just got here.

  11. PoojaG thank you so much for these tips. Just when I was about to hang up my hat you gave me a little hope. I’ve been working on this blog now since late October and it looks like my progress is moving but at a snail’s pace. But I refuse to give up. Blessings and Peace. Claudia

  12. This was really helpful. Will definitely use to my advantage. Thank you pooja for such great advice :)) Also your blog posts have very postive vibes, i always enjoy reading them 💙

  13. Very informative and helpful for me especially I’m just started blogging. I was just spamming the tag don’t really known that WP will take it as real spam
