Sometimes the cons can outweigh the cons, however, when it comes to growing your blog or marketing your blog social media can really make a huge difference. It can help direct traffic to your blog and in particular it will help you get traffic from outside the WordPress community. If used correctly social media can be used as a tool to help grow your blog and it can also be a great way to meet potential sponsors because a lot of sponsors do look at social media pages/find influencers to work with through their social media. 1. I’m going to have to disagree since I stopped using social media platforms 😝 The only “social media” I use is WordPress! Like any platform, growth takes time. The followings I did have on IG, Twitter etc. were very small. I can definitely see why using social media could be useful for those that have already established larger followings of at least 2K+ followers.

  2. I posted one or two posts on Facebook in the very beginning when I started my blog, but stupid algorithms of Facebook tagged me as a spammer and banned me from using Facebook. What’s the use of using such a dumb platform that can’t differentiate between a genuine person and a spammer? I can only say that it is their loss, not mine.

  3. These points are great and explain exactly why you are such a smart, accomplished blogger!
Regarding the social media point, I guess people would be more interested when we update every now abd then than whenever we write a post? They tend to lose interest over a point and become blasé about it. I used to link my first few blog posts on my Whatsapp status regularly. For my first post, I got so many complements and lots of traffic from my friends, relatives and teachers. The second post too enjoyed some of it but lesser in intensity. The third was lesser and so on… I find the 3rd one to be relatively underrated as it was a much intense topic. So, yeah, people might lose interest with time.

I agree with every point you’ve mentioned. Thank you!

  4. Another great post from Pooja 🙂 Your blog is really the only one I follow for anything to do with social media because your advice is so spot on. I’ve followed it because it works 🙂

      1. You’re welcome. I do try to do the same every now and then when I blog about what I’ve learned. I think it’s good to go over the things you’ve learned so you can help others with their journey if they’e struggling 🙂
