The One With The Reels

The One With The Reels

I have been sharing my Instagram reels on here for the last few weeks since some of you seem to enjoy them. I know that not everyone that follows me here follows me on IG too since some of you may not have an IG account or some of you may not be interested in the content I post there since it’s quite different from what I post on my blog. However, some of you do enjoy my reels when I share them here and have asked in the comments if I can share them more often and honestly they are so fun to make that I get excited about sharing them so I decided to occasionally share them here too. I’ve always been VERY camera shy so this is a big deal for me lol. Hope you enjoy them!

A Glitch In The Matrix

A Glitch In The Matrix

Admittedly, I have never seen The Matrix so I have no idea what that means. I’ve only seen the Futurama parody version where they kind of diss it which I enjoyed but yeah never really seen the real thing.

Back to the point of the post- I keep trying to write advice posts for Tuesdays but it’s just not working out so from now on I’ll be posting advice posts on Monday and Blogger Interviews on Tuesdays. I have other stuff happening on Tuesdays now that my summer classes have started and I’ve been making reels more regularly and it’s just too much. I have time over the weekend so it would be easier to write the post over the weekend and just edit and post it on Monday. I have my first test today so wish me luck!

Edit: I got 21/25 on the test!

Since it is still technically tip Tuesday here’s a little tip- don’t eat yellow ice lol… Just kidding. Here’s an actual tip- the less you care about what others are doing online and what they think about what you’re doing online the more fun you’ll have blogging. So stop caring so much about others and and just keep doing you.

Also, a blogging friend started a sustainable household items brand and it would be awesome if you support her by checking it out. Click here to view her online store.

I Messed Up

I Messed Up

You know how I wrote that whole post about sticking to a schedule and that good stuff? Yeah. It’s been like week one and I already messed up lol. I was supposed to make sure I post blogging advice today but I randomly got on a call with a really awesome friend and didn’t have time to write. To be honest, I don’t feel bad about it because I hadn’t talked to this friend in a while and I really enjoyed catching up. I’ll plan better in the future I guess but obviously as much as I love blogging my real life is important too.

Let me know in the comments how your day was and what you did today because I’m in a chatty mood today and I want to chat with all of you amazing souls!

More Reels!

More Reels!

As you probably know, Instagram recently introduced a reels to their platform and I have been really enjoying making them. They are basically short little videos and you can get really creative with them. I was always quiet shy in front of the camera so I’m kind of surprised that I’m having so much fun making reels but I guess people change lol.

I shared some two weeks or so ago and some of you really enjoyed them and asked if I could share reels more regularly so I decided to share some more of my favourite ones again. I know a lot of you guys follow my IG page which I am super grateful for but some of you guys may not use IG or may not want to follow me there since it’s so different from my blog. I thought this way you guys can still check out my reels if you like- WP is my biggest platform so I feel like it just makes more sense to share them here. Anyway, enjoy!

Hope you enjoyed those- they were a lot of fun to make!!

Blah Blah Blah

Blah Blah Blah

Unfortunately, I don’t have a post for you guys today. I don’t know why but I just feel so blah. I don’t know how else to explain it. I’m not sad or tired or sleepy or anything really. I’m just blah. I feel like the human equivalent of the “urghhh” sound. I hope to feel better soon and get out of this funk. I think I just need to meditate some more and get in touch with my inner self and figure out where these emotions, or rather lack of, are stemming from. I didn’t want to force myself to write in this mood so I decided to just be honest and tell you guys how I feel because pobody’s nerfect… Oh- I saw a rainbow today which was cool!!

Let me know in the comments how your day is going so far- you guys know I always enjoy reading your comments!

What Would You Like To Hear

I wanted to film a few more episodes of our podcast and wanted to ask what you guys would be interested in hearing us (or sometimes just me if my sister is busy) talk about. Any suggestions are welcome because there are no stupid ideas… just stupid people (jk jk😂).

Thanks!

So…

So…

I’m working on a post for next week so I don’t really have a post for today but instead of a post I thought I would share some of my favourite reels from Instagram that I’ve been making. I have been having so much fun on Instagram lately which is weird because last time I tried the whole IG thing I wasn’t that into it. I think I like it more this time around because I’m just having fun with it and not really wasting too much time trying to do stuff that’s trending or going viral or whatever. I also love makeup and creating new makeup looks for IG has been so much fun and has really got my creative side going.

I know a lot of you guys aren’t on IG or following me there so I thought I would share them here too since this is my biggest platform:

Hope you enjoyed those- they were a lot of fun to make!!

Tell Me The Weirdest Fact You Know

Tell Me The Weirdest Fact You Know

A while back I asked you what your weirdest experience was and I got some really interesting (and a little scary) answers. Today, I thought we could do something similar but instead of sharing your weirdest experience I want you guys to share your the weirdest fact you know with me in the comments below.

I’ll start us of- here is my weird fact:

It is physically impossible to touch your tongue to your elbow. I know this because I read about it as a teenager and spent like a good half an hour or so trying to lick my elbow 😂

Free Self-Care Practices You Should Try

Free Self-Care Practices You Should Try

The Importance Of Self-Care

With the incredibly fast life we are living it is incredibly important for us to set aside some me time where we can enjoy our hobbies or simply do nothing for a little while. I know first hand how difficult life can get and I absolutely know that carving out some me time is much easier said then done. However, it is still incredibly vital that we take some time out of our busy schedules to relax and unwind.

Last year was my fourth year as a university student and those two semesters were extremely tough- especially the last one where I ended up taking three very demanding courses. I got through it but by the end I felt incredibly exhausted and I really just did not want to do anything at all for a little while. I ended up taking a semi-break from blogging and a full break from everything else and during this time I did things that I enjoyed without having to put a crazy amount of effort into. It really helped me feel better and regain my enthusiasm for the things I had kind begun to lose interest in.

One of the most important things I did was listen to my physical and mental health and do a bunch of self-care things that made me feel really pampered and amazing. Of course, as a full-time student my budget was pretty much non-existent and so I ended up finding a bunch of things I could do for free instead that would still be considered self-care but that wouldn’t cost me my next semesters fees lol!

Since these really helped me I decided to share them with you guys in case any of you were looking for ways to pamper yourself a little this summer!

Reconnect With Nature

I don’t know why but nature always makes me feel better even when I’m not feeling my best. I think nature is one of those things that’s just out there for free but we often forget to appreciate just how much it does for us as well as how beautiful it is.

Going for a stroll or just sitting outside next to the trees and plants makes me feel so alive again and really helps clear my mind. The other day I was taking a walk with my sister and was lucky enough to capture the video I have added above. The bee was absolutely adorable and the flowers were so beautiful.

Nature is completely free and all around us so the first self-care tip I want to share is take a walk and connect with nature. It will make you feel so much better no matter how stressed out you are.

Reconnect With Your Inner Child

One thing I have really enjoyed doing is taking a break from adulting and trying some things that I really enjoyed doing as a child or things I always wanted to do as a child. I have shared a lot about doing art again and it’s been incredibly fun. I feel like art was one of those things that I truly enjoyed doing as a child but kind of forgot about as an adult. It feels great reconnecting with my artsy side and even though my drawings aren’t the greatest things ever they have been a lot of fun to do. I started drawing on an app called IbisPaint- I tried a lot of apps but this was the easiest to use on my phone.

Another things I liked to do as a child that I stopped doing as an adult was playing games on the computer. If you’re a 90’s/2000’s kid you know exactly what I’m talking about. We had the best computer games- they were super simple compared to the stuff we have now but they were just so much fun. Recently, I found a site that offers similar games for free and I have to admit I have been playing them almost every day since I found a site that offers a really large number of online games for free. I used to love Pinball which is one of the games I play on that site as well as. Another one is Tetris- I used to play that all the time! And my favourite is of course Open Restaurant which is super similar to a game my sister and I played together. Playing these games makes me so nostalgic and I was telling my sister about it some time ago and she ended up getting super into it too lol! If you want to try playing any of these games and more for yourself feel free to check out the site here.

I was also super obsessed with makeup as a child but wasn’t allowed to use it until I got older. I sort of lost interest in it for a while but recently I’ve been experimenting a lot more with makeup and trying new looks. If you follow me on Instagram you will probably know what I’m talking about. It’s been a lot of fun and a great stress reliever.

Basically, what I’m trying to say is tap into your inner child and do the things you enjoyed when growing up. It will bring back all these amazing memories and remind you of a time when you were more carefree. A lot of these things like art, playing online games, maybe learning an instrument etc. is totally free and a lot of fun.

Do Nothing

I feel like we have become so used to always doing something that we forget that sometimes we need to enjoy doing absolutely nothing. I think we are so conditioned to believe that if we are not being productive we are wasting our time but that’s absolutely not true. Yes, we absolutely should try to be as productive as we can be but that should not be at the cost of our mental health.

Sometimes, self-care doesn’t have to be anything big or fancy. In fact, it doesn’t have to be anything at all. It could just be sleeping in, ordering takeout and having a good time watching a movie or binge watching your favourite TV show *cough Grey’s Anatomy cough.*

As an adult we need to be careful to always push ourselves but not to the point where it effects our physical and mental health. Very often we push ourselves too hard and the best form of self-care in these situations is learning when your body needs to take a break and do absolutely nothing for a while. And you know what the best part of doing nothing is? It’s doing nothing lol! It’s free, takes zero effort and can be done anywhere!

Your Thoughts

Do you practice self-care? What are some of your self-care tips? What are some ways through which you pamper yourself? Do you enjoy nature? What computer games did you enjoy playing as a child? What are some childhood activities you loved? Let me know in the comments below or simply stop by and say hi because I love chatting with you in the comments!

What’s The Weirdest Thing That’s Ever Happened To You?

What’s The Weirdest Thing That’s Ever Happened To You?

I’m still working on my longer post so I decided to post this one today. I have one question for you guys- what is the the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you? Something that you can’t explain but you know happened.

I’ll go first. When I was living back home in Kenya I had a lot of weird things happen to me and I still think that apartment may be haunted. One weird thing that happened to me I still can’t explain was hearing footsteps in my room in the middle of the night. It must have been like 5 am or so and I was woken up to really loud footsteps in my bedroom. I shared the room with my sister so I assumed it was her and without checking to see I just told her to keep it down and tried to go back to sleep. However, the noise didn’t stop and I got super annoyed and woke up to tell her to shut up but when I looked at her bed she was fast asleep in it. Obviously, I was kind of freaked out and I realised the noise was coming from the closet/dressing room area. After a few seconds it stopped and I was relieved I didn’t have to go investigate where the noise was coming from and ended up going to sleep. Later on- the night after this happened- I told my sister about it and as we were talking we realised one of her socks was randomly stuck at the very top of our window. We had no idea how it got there as it had previously been in her bed the night before.

I thought the noise may have come from a neighbours house but it was way too loud. It was definitely coming from our room and to this day I can hear exactly what it sounds like when I think about it. It was like when someone was annoyed and stomping their feet with flip flops on. I don’t know how else to describe it. It was weird and I still have no idea what the hell was going on or where that sound came from.

Edit: It was early morning and the sun was out so I could tell there was no one else in the room apart from me and my sister. The closet door was open and I could see there was no one in there because of where my bed is.

For the record I was extremely skeptical about paranormal stuff before I moved into that apartment. I had always been scared of the dark but I knew that ghosts/spirits/stuff like that was not real.

Let me know your weird stories in the comments below I would love to hear them! Also let me know if you guys would like to hear more about my paranormal experiences- I don’t know if any of them were actually really paranormal stuff but I genuinely can’t find any other explanation for them.
