30 Day Blogging Strategy Plan

30 Day Blogging Strategy Plan

I have been meaning to share this with you guys but I got busy with university so I decided to post pre-written stuff instead. Anyway, some time ago I was approached by two lovely blogging friends Olivia and Shelly and they told me about a 30 day blogging plan they were working on to help bloggers improve their sites, following and traffic and I thought this was an incredible idea.

They were lovely enough to give me more information about the plan and I was really into it by the time I was done going through everything. You could tell they had worked hard on it and both of their blogs are doing so well you could tell they knew what they were talking about.

This blogging plan basically helps you enhance your blog whether you are just starting your blog or have been blogging for years. It teaches you the a lot of things that you need to know in order to have a successful blog and to be honest I wish I had something like this when I started out because it took me quite a while to pick up on them.

The plan itself includes a number of things. It helps you create a blogging schedule so that you can post regularly, it teaches you more about SEO and it’s importance when it comes to websites, it shows you how to design your blog to make it more attractive and user friendly, it talks about general tips for blog posts and more. You also get a 2 FREE media kit templates and a free stock image library which is so great!

I think this is such a great way to enhance your blog and I think it could be particularly helpful if you’re a newer blogger because a lot of these things take a while to pick up. This can really help you save a lot of time and effort in the future.

The plan is £5.99 but if you use my code pooja10 you can get 10% off. You can check it out by clicking here.

SEO For Dummies #3

SEO For Dummies

I have been doing these SEO FOR DUMMIES posts for a while now because as you guys know over the last few months I have really gotten into SEO stuff because I have found it incredibly beneficial for increasing the traffic and following on my blog.
Check out part one and part two.
To be honest, until a few months ago I didn’t know or particularly care about what SEO was or how I can use SEO to my advantage. However, since I had more free time during the lockdown I decided to do some research about it and saw just how beneficial it can be to have an SEO friendly site.
I started working on my own blog and it took me a few months to become more SEO friendly as it is quite complicated and I did almost everything on my own as it is quite expensive to get SEO work done through professionals. However, I realised that after a while I kind of got the hang of it and didn’t need that much help- yes it was very difficult and time consuming but I had a lot of free time on my hands.
Over the last two or three months I have noticed a significant increase in traffic thanks to the SEO changes I made. By significant I don’t mean a few more views, I mean like thousands of more views a month. My traffic has literally doubled.
Therefore, I decided to share some more tips with you guys today. What I realised is that although making sure your current posts are SEO friendly it’s even more important to make sure your older posts are SEO friendly as well. In fact, most of my traffic increased after I made my older posts SEO friendly and fixed all the SEO errors on my older posts. So for todays post I decided to focus on how to fix your older posts.
I also want to give you a heads up and tell you that it will take a while after you make these changes to see an increase in traffic and following as it takes a while for search engines to update information about your site. So keep calm and stay SEO friendly! It’s not instant but it’s so worth it over time.

What Is SEO?

“SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, which is the practice of increasing the quantity and quality of traffic to your website through organic search engine results.”- moz.com
I think this sums up SEO and what is really well so I’m going to just leave it at that.

Why Is SEO Important?

As mentioned above SEO can help you not only increase your traffic from search engines but also help you increase your traffic to a more specific audience. It helps you get an audience that is specifically looking for sites like yours. WordPress is awesome and I love connecting with other bloggers but just having WP traffic isn’t always enough especially if you are looking to blog professionally at some point. SEO gets you this outside traffic from search engines and helps you build your blog and diversifies the audience. Here are some easy and simple ways through which you can improve your SEO:

Get A Full Site Audit

Before you do anything else I really urge you to get a full site audit. It will help you pinpoint the exact problems with your older posts if they are any. Getting a site audit saves so much time and energy and is the best way to fix your published posts.
You may be losing a significant amount of traffic simply because your older posts are not SEO friendly and therefore search engines are leaving them out of their search results. Most of the time it’s not even huge problems and are easily fixable like the title tag is too long/short or there is a problem with your meta description. It literally takes a day or two to fix and increases your traffic significantly.
However, site audits can be super expensive. I know that not everyone can afford to make that kind of investment- I know it took me quite a while to save up and afford it. And the worst part was that it doesn’t really show you how to fix stuff it just shows you what’s wrong since it’s just an audit. And hiring someone to fix the problem is very expensive. So, I just had to do my research and spend like 6 months figuring everything out.
By the end I was super frustrated but also very happy with the results of my hard work. That’s why I have now started offering my own SEO services and not only are they much more affordable the best part is that I will personally show you how to make the changes. I will be there for you step by step so that you don’t have to go through what I went through. To read more about the SEO services I am offering click here.
Of course, there is no pressure to work with me. If you prefer to work with other sites please do so. Just make sure you get an audit done somehow because it is very important if you are looking to make your site more SEO friendly.

Images

Images on your posts are much more important than you think. They are a really great way to direct some search engine traffic to your posts. To use images/media on your posts to direct traffic to your posts make sure you fill out the description section on your images.
The description section allows search engines to figure out what the image is so that when someone searches for a specific image they might see your image and go to your post where the image is used. You may not realise how often this happens but it actually happens a lot.
So go back to your older posts and fill out the description section of all the images you have used in those posts.

Update Older Posts

As posts get older you need to make sure you are editing and updating them to make sure they remain relevant. You can update them in multiple ways. The first thing you want to do is read through the information and make sure it’s still accurate as search engines tend to put a lot of importance on the quality of the information you are providing.
Next, you can check what keywords are currently best for the topics on the posts and update your post and tags accordingly. Keywords tend to change over time and different things become more/less popular over time. What is popular now may not have been a few years or even a few months ago.
I would also really recommend updating links you have used in your posts especially external links. This is because over time some links change, some sites shut down so the link are no longer available etc. This may leave your posts with broken links that don’t work which is a big red flag for search engines. Update your links and make sure you get rid of the ones that no longer work.

Add Relevant Backlinks

Over time you will obviously have published more posts and many of them may be dealing with the same or similar topics. You can go back to older posts dealing with the same topics and add relevant backlinks linking to new posts that talk about similar or the same topic and the older post.
Adding backlinks is not only great for your SEO but also for increasing traffic in general as readers who read one post on that topic tend to often be interested in reading more posts on that topic or on similar topics.

Conclusion

I hope you found this post helpful and if you are looking to make your site more SEO friendly I hope this helped you see the importance of making not only future posts more SEO friendly but older ones as well.
I also wanted to let you guys know that I am having so many problems with my WordPress account at the moment. It’s not letting me follow anyone or like any posts and of course as usual it is probably going to take forever to fix. Sorry if I am not able to be active on your blog but I literally can’t. I will be active again as soon as the problems are fixed. Thanks for understanding!

SEO For Dummies #2

SEO For Dummies

I did a post about two weeks ago called SEO For Dummies and I thought it would be beneficial because SEO stuff is hard to understand and if I could put it more simply I could help people who may not be the best at technology or computer stuff. It got really good results and I noticed that a lot of people found it helpful and asked for more tips. Since I have been researching SEO for quite a few months now- pretty much since the lockdown began I have picked up on some simple and quick tricks and tips. So, I decided to share some more with you guys. Hope you find these helpful as well.
I don’t know about you guys but when it comes to SEO and all things SEO I feel like kind of a dummy a lot of times and as someone who barely knows anything when it comes to technology I really did not even know what SEO was till like some months ago. I’m not going to lie- SEO stuff makes me feel like a dummy sometimes. Even though the majority of the stuff I read about SEO optimization and stuff like that is in English I feel like it’s written in a different language that I don’t know.
It took a lot of work for me to figure some stuff out and improve my site and I want to spare people the time and effort if I can in some way so I decided to write this article for people like me who may be a bit technologically challenged. I know a lot of you do struggle with SEO stuff because I do get a lot of comments/emails/DM’s asking about it and I also got some people asking about it in a poll I took some time ago asking what you guys want me to write about.
So basically, I have picked some basic stuff about SEO up over the last few months and noticed that certain small changes can make a huge difference so I decided to share these small ways through which you can improve your sites SEO.

Keywords

I think keywords is something that most of us have heard of at some point or the other. It is usually the first thing that you read about when you try to do any sort of research on SEO and rightfully so because keywords are an extremely important part of your SEO. Using the correct SEO words can make or break your posts or your site. How you use them is also important.
You may be wondering, just like I was when I first started doing SEO research, what exactly are keywords. A keywords is a specific word that describes the topic of your post and it is the word you want to get traffic for on your site or post. For example, this post is called SEO For Dummies so my keyword would be SEO because that is the subject of this post.
Now you want to use the keyword multiple times throughout the post but you also don’t want to use it so often that search engines write your post off as spam because that will make you lose traffic instead of gain it. You should also try using more of the keyword in the first three paragraphs and fewer as your post progresses.

Meta Descriptions

The circled part of the image above is the meta description. To explain it in a simple way it is the little writing that you first see when you search something that shows you the introduction of a site or a post by the site. Apparently it is super important and having problems with your meta description can mess up your sites SEO score.
One problem could be that you don’t have a meta description which means that for some reason the search engine is not picking up your description. If this is the case it must be fixed right away. I won’t list the ways you can fix this because I personally am not an expert at SEO stuff and the cause for this could be multiple things. I would recommend doing your own research or reaching out to an SEO expert or professional SEO help site like SEMrush.
Another problem could be that you have duplicate meta descriptions which happens when you have copy and pasted the introductions of your post or you have copied someone else’s introduction. That’s why it is important to make sure that every post you have has it’s own unique introduction. If you do have duplicate meta descriptions for some of your posts this can easily be solved by editing the starting five sentences or so for the post or posts.

Post Title

Your post title is an important part of your post for multiple reasons. Firstly, it is what will make your reader decide whether to click on the post and read it or move on to a different post. It should also properly show what the post is about- clickbait is good for one time readers but having an honest title is the best way to go if you want loyal readers that return to your blog. Your title is also very important for SEO purposes.
Firstly, as mentioned above keywords are very essential for your post and therefore you need to make sure that your keyword is mentioned at least once in your title. For example, if you are writing a post about SEO the word “SEO” should be in your title at least once. If you are doing a post about blogging words like “blog”, “blogging“, “blogger” etc. should be in your title. You don’t need to use all of them but at least one of those words should be there.
Another thing you need to look out for when it comes to planning your title is that it should not be too long or too short. People sometimes disagree on the exact number of characters your post title should have but most SEO experts agree that it should have between 15-50 characters and anything more than that would mean your title is too long. If your title is too long or short the search engine may have a hard time finding your posts.

Self-hosting Vs Paid Plan

I’m not an expert at self-hosting or with paid plans but from the research I have done they both have their advantages and disadvantages as far as SEO is concerned.
Self-hosted sites tend to be a lot more easier to customise and offer a lot more options to customise your site in certain ways that a paid plan may not allow you to be able to do. Certain things need to be customised for SEO purposes and therefore this can come in handy. Self-hosted sites also offer very similar features and more for a lower price compared to paid WordPress plans.
The problems I saw with self-hosted though were that first of all you kind of need to do most of the work on your own unless you hire someone to do it for you (but if you’re going to pay someone to do it for you why not just get a slightly more expensive plan and not where you do not have to do a lot of the work). You also need a lot of time and at least some knowledge on how the process is done so if you’re not good with technology or you don’t have a lot of time this may not be for you. There is also a possibility that you will lose content, media or followers during the process of moving to a self-hosted site.
As I mentioned I am not expert when it comes to self-hosting as I have never had a self-hosted site. However, a fellow blogger Jirah Merizz has an awesome self- hosted site where I was able to find a bunch of information about self-hosting such as the benefits, the problems, why self hosting and more. She was also kind enough to give me more information when I reached out to her. She used Hostinger which I think is a pretty good platform to self-host through and if you are interested in more details about self-hosting check out her site as well as Hostinger for more information. Hostinger actually seems to have some kind of 90% off sale at the moment so if you have decided to self-host this might be the right time to go for it.
With a paid plan in my experience WordPress does tend to take care of everything but it is more expensive and at the end of the day you can’t customise to the same extent as you can with self-hosted sites and so certain SEO issues can not be addressed. Also there are certain things that could go wrong- it’s happened to me- that WP will simply tell you there is no way to fix so having WP do it for you is easier but does not guarantee that it will always works out.

Conclusion

I tried really hard to keep this post simple and to the point which I feel like a lot of posts about SEO aren’t because obviously a lot of technical terms and things are involved when it comes to SEO. However, this post is more for the average writer/blogger/site owner who may not always know much about SEO or technical terms. Basically I just didn’t want people to Google every five minutes before they understood what I was saying so I tried to keep it very basic.
I know some people may find that beneficial and if you enjoyed this kind of simple post about how to better your SEO scores I have a lot more simple tips like these that I can share with you so let me know in the comments below if you would be interested in similar posts.

Maintain Your Blogging Routine

Hey everyone! I’m very much excited to share with you this first collaboration post from me and Elle of ellesunpopularopinions! I feel so lucky to have been able to connect with her through blogging a little while back. We began following each others blog and realised that we have quite a lot in common and that collaborating would be super fun. She has such a great blog full of some really interesting posts- I particularly enjoy her posts about mindfulness which is something that I believe is very beneficial for everyone. If you haven’t followed her already I would highly recommend doing so by clicking here.
We know that things are way different these days, and we have to catch up with everything we left off since the start of this pandemic, and that is our schoolwork. School is now starting for some countries. And so, Elle and I have made a post on how to maintain your blogging routine during online classes.
It is quite hard to do, considering the balance of everything while maintaining your physical, mental, and emotional health intact. So, we hope that you take in these helpful tips to help you manage your schedule throughout!

1.Make your blogging routine flexible

Now that you have another thing that will be taking up your time every day, I suggest making a flexible blogging routine. Something that would complement your time for your classes. For example, if you only have classes MWFs or TTh, you can adjust your blogging routine to which time or days you are free. You can do it every night and allot maybe 2 to 3 hours for writing your blog. In that way, you will be able to do it every night or alternate nights. Your priorities come first hand and you don’t want to avoid distractions when you study for your online classes. But you may also want to keep on blogging so that your blog would still be maintained.

2. Wake up early

Waking up early can do you a lot of good things, especially now that you have another responsibility. It sucks when you have to do a lot of things the next day, and it will get ruined when you wake up late. You will think that you have wasted a few hours to be productive and get some school work done. So practice waking up in the morning, and visualize the things you will do that day. This will help you set your mood, your goals, and your mindset for that day. If you’re having a hard time waking up early, start practicing now, so that your body clock can easily adjust.

3. Commit to an easy schedule

Other than making your blogging routine flexible, your schedule should also be easily applied and practiced. You will get stressed out and bombarded with a lot of tasks if you set up a hectic schedule. Make one that you can easily commit to, even if that means taking a few hours of rest from blogging, it’s still important. Don’t set higher standards than you can’t maintain- it’s okay to do things one at a time.

4. Avoid distractions when you’re doing school work

Exit that WordPress tab on your browser when you’re doing schoolwork. It will make you more focused on what you’re doing. And the more you are focused, the faster you’ll get your schoolwork done, and get back to blogging again. Avoid other distractions too, when you are blogging. Writing your blog requires as much focus and brain juices as doing your school requirements. Have a balance between both.

5. Set up a checklist

Don’t do all your tasks at once. If you can’t do them every day, it’s totally fine too. You can set up a checklist of the things you ought to do every week. Spread the tasks that you can do that week, and then try to complete them before the weekends. Don’t worry, you have a whole week to do so. Also, if it helps, you can think of the next topics you can write about during your rest hours and not during your blogging hours. And then, put them on your checklist too. This will save you time from thinking about what topic you can write when you are in front of your laptop or phone ready for blogging.

6. Plan ahead

With school, blogging, work, and life, you may end up getting very busy, and sometimes life happens, and you end up being forced into certain situations that are out of your control. You may also end up getting overwhelmed when you have assignments due, tests, or exams. That’s why it’s always a good idea to plan ahead. It’s a good idea to write and schedule your posts in advance when you have time so that later on you don’t end up having too much on your plate, and not doing either school work or blogging work properly.

7. Don’t lose hope

I know it can be very overwhelming to study and blog, and the fact that a lot of us don’t have in school classes and have to take online classes does not help because it is a lot of change all at once. It’s easy to lose hope or to lose energy/motivation to continue blogging. However, that can lead to a major downfall for your blog, because as you probably know, staying active is a big part of growing your blog. Blogging and writing in general is one of those things that you need to keep practicing and doing on a regular basis.

8. Sharing is caring

If you feel absolutely overwhelmed with school or even just life in general and feel like there is no way you can write a post, well then, you don’t have to. You can always share/reblog a post by someone else that you really enjoyed. That way, your blog is active, plus you are supporting another blogger, which is always awesome.

9. Try something new

As someone who has been blogging since 2015, I know that at first blogging is super exciting and you are just full of ideas but after a while, you can start running out of ideas. This is especially the case when you have school, and a lot of your energy is going into schoolwork. If you feel like you are running out of ideas, try something new. Try writing about a personal experience, maybe even what you’re learning in your online classes or how you feel about online classes versus in school classes. Looking through other blogs and seeing what they are doing and drawing inspiration from their posts is also a great way to get some new ideas. Always credit the person you took inspiration from, of course.

10. Be prepared

Online classes and maintaining a blogging routine is not easy, so be prepared. Be prepared to be overwhelmed sometimes, be prepared to feel exhausted sometimes, be prepared to want to quit sometimes, and also be prepared to feel extremely proud of yourself when you keep going despite all these things. Also be prepared to have things go wrong because, at some point, they will. It could be as small as scheduling at the wrong time by mistake or something as major as losing your comments/likes on some of your posts- both of which I have been through. Just know that in the long run, it will be okay, and it will all be so worth it. Lastly, if you feel like you are getting too overwhelmed, please do seek help from family, friends, or even a professional. It is ALWAYS okay to ask for help when you need it.
We hope all of these points help you maintain your blogging routine during online classes! Remember to be gentle with yourself and avoid getting stressed too much. 🙂

SEO For Dummies

SEO For Dummies

I don’t know about you guys but when it comes to SEO and all things SEO I feel like kind of a dummy a lot of times and as someone who barely knows anything when it comes to technology I really did not even know what SEO was till like some months ago. I’m not going to lie- SEO stuff makes me feel like a dummy sometimes.

Theme

Your theme is absolutely a vital thing for your blog. The way your blog looks and loads is definitely directly related to how much traffic you get. Not even just SEO traffic but all traffic in general. Most people these days have shorter attention spans and if your blog does not load fast enough they are simply to going to move on to another blog that does load quickly.
Another thing you want to take into account when it comes to your theme is how easy it is to navigate. Can your reader easily find what they are looking for, do you have your categories neatly put somewhere so they can look at specific topics they are interested in and do you have a search button somewhere in case they are looking for a very specific post that they can’t seem to find. Also, is your font easy to read for everyone, does it load quickly, does it obstruct other text/links etc.
These are all such tiny things but they really make the biggest difference because often search engines will pick up on these little things and this will make you lose a lot of traffic that would have otherwise been directed to your site. I will be sharing a post which will be published at the same time as this one next week- Tuesday at 9 PM EST- and in that post I will talk in more detail about how to customise your theme to make it more SEO friendly and how to pick an SEO friendly theme to begin with. If this is something you are interested in check in again next week.

Headings

Your headings are super important and I will talk more about that below but what’s even more important are your subheadings. Don’t stick with just using H1 headings use H2, H3 and H4 as well because this will help search engines pick up the topic of your post better and therefore it will rank higher on the search engines pages. It’s a very simple but efficient way to increase your SEO. I also read that using an H2 heading with similar words or the same words as the H1 heading is also helpful because I guess it really emphasis what the topic of the post is and gets your keywords into the system.
res_1587529659977

Post length

Most sites agree that post length is very important when it comes to SEO. Although it’s not impossible for shorter posts to have a high SEO score it does help a lot if your posts are longer. I am not completely sure why (let me know in the comments below if you know why) but longer posts are definitely better for your SEO. Most people suggest that you write a post that contains about 1500-2000 words in it. And if you are able to write posts that are even longer then you should definitely go for it and write posts that are longer than 2000 words.
The problem however with this is that it’s good for SEO but it may not always be good for other organic traffic. Yes, search engines will be able to pick it up more and you will likely see an increase in the amount of search engine traffic you get but at the same time you may lose your current/non-search engine following because they are used to your posts being a certain length and to be honest most people may not have the time/energy/enthusiasm/attention span to read really long 1500 plus word posts.
The advice I would give is write from the heart- if you can make it to 1500 words or more than that’s awesome but if you can’t don’t force yourself. If you just keep rambling on people are going to realise that and kind of skip a lot of what you’ve written or stop reading your posts in general because most people don’t want to read someone rambling on just to fill the word count. Another piece of advice I would give is that before you write a post do a lot of research about the topic you are writing on so that you aren’t just rambling but giving actual vital information to the reader about the topic while lengthening your posts. And at the end of the day if you can’t make it to a certain word count it’s really not the end of the world and it’s most definitely not worth losing your current audience over.

Images/gifs

Images and gifs are something that a lot of people forget about when it comes to their posts. There are so many benefits of using images and gifs on your posts such as it will draw in your readers, it will give your readers a break from reading if your post is longer, it will maintain your readers attention and in general it will just make your post more fun and interesting to read. Another awesome benefit is that images are great for your SEO. Images and gifs can really help draw in traffic from search engines and a lot of bloggers/sites admit that using images/gif’s really helps increase their traffic from search engines.
I do, however, want to warn people against using too many images in their posts. Yes, some images are good but overwhelming search engines with images will basically just get you listed as a spammer/spam. Also images do tend to slow down your loading time and as mentioned above loading time is very important when it comes to SEO. I would suggest stick to using a couple of images per post.

URL’s

URL’s are one thing that I think a lot of people neglect or that a lot of people may not know are super important when it comes to SEO. Make sure your URL isn’t too long or too short because this can effect your SEO as search engines may have a hard time identifying/categorizing your post. This isn’t really a URL thing in particular but I would also recommend double checking your title and making sure it is not too short or too long as this will effect your SEO and whether or not search engines are able pick up your post/article as well. I will talk more about making SEO friendly titles in the next post if I decide to make another similar post but until then try to keep your title medium length- some suggest about 30 characters long and some suggest about 50. Also I have noticed some people use emojis, hashtags and other things in their title. This can directly effect your URL so when you are editing your post make sure to edit your URL just to make sure that there are no emoji’s or useless hashtags in your URL.

Use Social Media To Grow Your Blog

Why Social Media Is An Important Part Of Growing/Marketing Your Blog

We all know that social media has it’s pros and cons. Sometimes the cons can outweigh the cons, however, when it comes to growing your blog or marketing your blog social media can really make a huge difference. It can help direct traffic to your blog and in particular it will help you get traffic from outside the WordPress community. If used correctly social media can be used as a tool to help grow your blog and it can also be a great way to meet potential sponsors because a lot of sponsors do look at social media pages/find influencers to work with through their social media. It will also help you build a place to interact more with other bloggers and people interested in your writing and as I always say if you want to grow your blog you have to be active and socialise as much as possible. Here are some way through which you can grow your blog using your social media pages:

Connect You Social Media To Your Blog

This is probably the first thing you should do if you haven’t done it already- connect your social media pages to your WordPress blog. This will help WordPress auto-post on your social media pages every time you post something on your blog if you choose to do so. There is also an option for you to only post specific posts to your social media pages depending on what you want to post. Posting regular links/posts about your blog on your social media account will help remind your followers on social media about your blog because lets be honest people don’t always have the best memory and sometimes when you don’t put your blog in everyone’s face all the time they may forget to check it out regularly. Of course, don’t harass people into reading your posts but this will act as more of a friendly reminder. It will also help bring in traffic to your blog from outside of WordPress and get you more email followers which is always a plus. Be Your Biggest Fan

This is going to feel very uncomfortable and weird at first but trust me when I say it’s necessary. You need to be your biggest fan and your greatest cheerleader and basically just do everything you can to market your blog on social media because if you use your social media pages wisely you can really start gaining a lot more traffic and even more followers to your blog. By marketing what I mean is try to post about your blog on your feed or in your stories on social media more frequently. If you are working on a new post talk about it on your story, post a couple of pictures of you working on the post, maybe tag people if the post is a collaboration. I would also highly recommend posting on your story or your feed every time a new post goes up especially if you know the post is about a topic people on your social media pages will be interested in reading about. For example, my posts about blogging or blogging advice are among the most popular posts on my blog and I know a lot of people on my social media are interested in these kind of posts so even though I don’t always post about all my blog posts on Instagram I try to post as often as I can about posts with these topics because I know for a fact that they will bring traffic to my site.

Schedule Posts

Blogging, social media and just everything to do with growing your blog can take up a lot of time and energy. I think a lot of people don’t realise how much of struggle it actually is to grow your blog and assume that all you have to do is write a post and the traffic/followers will just appear. Of course this is very far from the truth because the truth is writing a good post is only the tip of the iceberg. It takes a lot of time and effort to get a response to your blog and I know a lot of people juggle blogging with work/school and may not have time to do the who marketing part. For people who are struggling to do everything or may not always find the time to post on WordPress and social media I would recommend using Glowupp to schedule your social media posts ahead of time. I recently discovered Glowupp and I have found it super helpful because I don’t always have time to post on social media and my blog. But with this site I can schedule my posts on social media to go up at the same time that my WordPress post is scheduled to go up. You will definitely see an increase in traffic once you start posting about your blog posts/website regularly on social media. For a 30% off Glowupp use the code GETSTARTED at checkout.

Start Specific Pages For Your Blog

If you are planning on using social media to grow your blog I would highly recommend creating specific pages linked to your blog on the social media platforms that you choose to start using. There are a number of reasons starting a new page for just your blog is beneficial. To begin with, a lot of bloggers write stuff that’s very personal and may even write about the people in their lives from time to time and you may feel uncomfortable sharing these personal posts on your existing social media pages that have friends and family on them. I definitely felt like this and that was one of the main reasons I keep my personal pages private and my blog pages public- but away from my private life! Another reason is that people on your other pages may not be interested in your posts about your blog but if you start a page for your blog than you will get followed by people who are interested in viewing posts like these- probably other bloggers or people interested in the topics you write about. This way you get a specific audience instead of a random audience which means they will be much more likely to go over to your blog.

How To Give Your Blog A Makeover

Why You Should Give Your Blog A Professional Makeover

A lot of times the reason your blog is not getting enough traffic or not growing as much as it should is partly due to the way that it looks. Your readers, potential subscribers and even potential sponsors may be turned off your blog if your blog does not look a certain way. People prefer sites that look more professional and be very user friendly.
A lot of blogs may not be easy to navigate and readers may have a difficult time locating specific posts, new posts that have recently been published or posts on certain topics they are interested in. Some sites may also not be mobile friendly and this could make them lose a lot of traffic as a large number of people tend to use their phones more often than their laptops when looking through websites.
Having a professional looking, easy to navigate and user friendly site has a multiple benefits such as it will increase your traffic, grow your subscribers, bring in more traffic from outside of WordPress and it is more likely to make more income than non-professional looking blogs.
Unfortunately, hiring a professional to give your blog a makeover or to make it look more professional may be too expensive for a lot of people especially if you are just starting out and are not making much of an income. Luckily, it is possible to give your blog a makeover for free and by yourself. Here are some ways through which you can give your blog a nice little professional makeover:

Improve the quality of your posts

Improving the quality of your existing and future posts and your site will instantly look so much more professional. You can do this in a number of ways. First, I would highly recommend going through older posts and adding relevant tags and categories. For a lot of bloggers it’s not until they have been blogging for a while that they fully understand how tags and categories work and therefore some of your older posts may not be getting the views they deserve.
Next, I would definitely recommend going through all your older posts and making sure there are no grammar mistakes or typos. This will make them look more professionally written. I think making sure you use the correct tags, categories and keywords in future posts is also very important in both increasing traffic/followers and making your blog look more professional to anyone reading it- especially potential sponsors because this is definitely something they will look at before deciding whether or not to work with you.

Images

Images, gifs, infographics and anything like that is really great for your blog. Not only does it make the blog look more professional, interesting, fun to read and well edited it also helps increase your SEO and traffic. Using appropriate images in appropriate posts is always a great way to give your posts/blog a mini-makeover. I would highly recommend going through your posts especially really old ones and adding a couple of images/other similar things like gifs to just make them pop a little and stand out to the reader. Images also help lighten the reading when your posts are a little longer and it gives the reader a break from reading.

Keep your blog connected

If you haven’t already I would highly recommend connecting your blog and social media pages. Make sure there is a way for your readers to find your social media, other blogs you may run or other sites you write on. You can do this by attaching your social media pages to your widgets or at the bottom of your blog. You can also create a page for your social media to help navigate readers towards your social media. This will help bring traffic from your blog to your social media pages and vice versa. It will also make your blog look like it’s bigger than just a regular blog because you also have social media pages.
I would also highly recommend that you post something on your social media feed or your social media story when you post something new- this isn’t part of the whole makeover thing but it will help you out if you are looking to grow your blog. Sites like GlowUpp can help you schedule your social media posts ahead of time and post them at the same time your post goes up on WP. Some potential sponsors may see that as a positive as they may want to work with you on multiple platforms.

SEO

If you are planning to give your blog a makeover I would highly recommend taking SEO into consideration and making sure the changes you make will help better your blogs SEO.
Small changes like using your keyword more frequently but not too often, using more images/gifs and writing longer posts can help boost your SEO and your DA. If you are planning on making changes making SEO friendly changes are really the way to go. From my personal experience I can see how much of a difference it can make.
I would also recommend using a theme that is fast loading and easy to navigate for your audience. And make sure that it is mobile friendly- having a mobile friendly site can make a huge difference in increasing your traffic and followers. I have seen some themes that don’t update when you post something new or that literally just won’t work at all on your phone and this will make you lose a lot of potential traffic and sponsors plus it will make your site look a lot less professional.

How I Started My Blog

I started blogging because I needed an outlet for my feelings and a friend suggested I start blogging which I did and I haven’t looked back since!

My Advice

Be patient- A lot of people expect to become famous or start making money over night. I’m not sure why but people kind of expect blogging to be an easy way to make money. However, it is absolutely the opposite. It takes A LOT of time and hard-work before you start making a decent amount of money. So be patient and make sure you remember that it takes time- but it’s all worth it in the end.

Be active- WP is a two way street. If you want your blog to grow than you need to be active on other blogs as well. Don’t expect likes, follows and comments if you aren’t liking, following and commenting on other peoples blogs. And by commenting I DO NOT mean spamming people.

My Nominees

If you’re reading this post and feel as though this may be something you want to participate in please consider yourself nominated and use the same questions I did- I would love to read your take on them! And if you don’t want to do an entire post dedicated to it you can leave the answers in the comments below.
