Caught Red-Handed- A Tiny Tale!

By Shweta Suresh
Our heads hung low. Guilt was etched on our faces. We’d been caught red-handed! We watched helplessly as our loot was confiscated.
Afterwards, grandpa and I exchanged smirks. Mom didn’t know about our secret stash of chocolates. It was safe and remained unconfiscated!

Both. Definitely both!

Considering the the times we live in, if your family member or friend told you they feel they are gay, what would your reaction be? How would you handle it?

I would be supportive and not really turn it into a thing because it isn’t because your sexuality/gender doesn’t define who you are as a person. They’re still the same person I know and love.

If you caught your family member watching pornography how would you handle the situation? What would you say to them?

Wow these questions got intense! I would just leave the room and let them finish…

What is your favorite color?

Sometimes pink sometimes blue!

Lichen Poem: A Brother Lost (Guest Post)

By caden738

Once so close

A bond of two boys

A relationship one could not bowse

Then it did separate

As the world is that way

That’s just fate

3 Reasons (Guest Post)

By Shah Ustav

In our day-to-day life, we meet different people around ourselves. We are surrounded by different people. Everyone is in chaos. Due to which, we don’t have time to talk with people to peace. We talk to them in chaos.

We are the creators of relationship. We only have control over the bonds. It is in our hands either to strong our bond or weaken it. For it, we must know what type of people they are we are associating with. There must be love between relationship.

Do you know why people are in your life? Why they are associating with you? What makes them your loved ones? What makes them trustworthy people? What is there between them and you? What makes a relationship?

Here, I have discussed the 3 reasons for which people came into your life.

People came into your life for 3 reasons:
1. For Season
2. For Reason
3. For Lifetime

1. For Season.

The first reason for which people come into our lives is for Season.

People come into our lives for Season. What it means? Like a season, it lasts for only some time. It isn’t a long lasting relationship. It lasts for some time like a season.

They are the people who are selfish. They only think about themselves. No one matters in their life. You are the not the person who matters in their lives. You are just the source of getting used. You’ll be used by different people. It sucks.

You’ll be left with broken heart. It may be possible that you love the people around yourself but they just show that they love you too. But they don’t. They just show that they love you but they don’t feel even a single thing you feel. It means they are using you.

People who are type of that nature always lose. They don’t know what is a relationship. They don’t know how much it sucks when someone use us and broke the heart.

They are seasonal people. Just come into your life and pass away like a season.

But you should find what type of people you are tolerating around yourself. If they just call you for some work, do the same. Simple. Do not try to be more personal if someone tries to use you and your talent. That’s it.

2. For Reason.

Some people come into our lives for a reason. Here, it doesn’t means of selfishness. They don’t come to make themselves rich. Instead, they come to help you.

One of my sisters has marked the bad habit in me that I always take things very seriously. I should give up on that habit because when I will leave my comfort zone, different people will use me.

Very true. But I take things seriously only when my beloved ones hurt me. I never ever get hurt by any fellows. I don’t even get hurt by my friends. It’s only for my loved ones. That’s it.

Some people are in our lives for a reason. They want to help you in every way possible. They will stand by your side in each and every situation. They want to help you and get yourself out from such harsh situations.

They do this without any intention. They just do this to make bond stronger. No matter you’ll help them in future or not. They just want to make a relationship stronger.

That relationship doesn’t mean to only lovers. That relationship is each and every relationship exists in the world whether it is brother-sister relationship or parents- offspring’s relationship. It doesn’t matter.

3. For Lifetime.

People who come into our lives for a reason may be ultimately change to people for lifetime.

I have many people who are for me and I am for them for lifetime. No matters how many difficulties will be there but I will be always standing by their side.

People who are in your life forever are generally loved ones. But there are some others who just stop by you for your help. They just want themselves to be greater than you. They just sit upon your chest and never get down from it.

The solution to it is to just say ‘NO’. Simple.

I have many people for Lifetime. They are my family, my sisters and my brothers till now. I don’t know about the future and also, I don’t want too. Just I care about my present. That’s it.

At last, know your people. Do you know what type of people you are with? How many people you have for lifetime? No one?

How To Appreciate The Introverts In Your Life

Don’t force them to do stuff- most introverts can only do so much going out/socialising before they need to recharge again so don’t force them to do stuff. If they tell you they can’t or don’t want to they really mean it so don’t guilt them about not hanging out with you!

Image result for introvert gif

Listen- most introverts don’t talk to people a lot unless they know you pretty well- then they never shut up! When introverts try to talk to you, you should really listen because you probably mean a lot to them and what they’re telling you is probably much more then just small talk.

Image result for listen gif

Don’t guilt them- introverts tend to be very sensitive and if you guilt them about stuff it’s going to really mess with them. It’s wrong to guilt anyone into doing stuff but introverts tend to take it harder then others do.

Image result for emotional gif

Be there for them- sometimes introverts have a hard time expressing their feelings so even if they don’t talk to you about it but seem kind of down or something you should try to be there for them. Introverts try to act like they’re okay but a lot of the time we’re just screaming in our heads.

Top 5 Dystopic Novels (Guest Post)

By Stefan

The Internet truly is a wondrous place. It gives us an opportunity to reconnect with family and friends,
find love via free singles dating sites, but most importantly, it allows us to lose ourselves; in the vast
ocean of breathtaking art. If you enjoy watching some of the popular movies and TV shows such as Black
Mirror, The Walking Dead, I Am Legend, and Blade Runner, you will definitely be interested in reading
these 5 amazing dystopian novels. Check out our top 5 list and see which one intrigues you the most.
We recommend them all!

5. The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood
Yes, that new popular TV show with the same name was based on this masterpiece by Margaret
Atwood. This classic was originally published back in 1985 and it tells a heartbreaking story about a
dystopian world where women have absolutely no rights. It is a brutal and sad tale about a handmaid
named Offred who struggles to survive in the world completely dominated by men. It is a very powerful
and heavy read, so don’t be surprised if you get really emotional and angry.

4. Synanon Kid by C.A. Wittman
C.A. Wittman is a talented novelist who is inspired by dystopian worlds, dogmatic religion, corrupt
leaders and corporations, and secret pasts. She absolutely thrives on these ideas and her new novel,
Synanon Kid is an exhilarating story about a girl who was kidnapped during a visit to her uncle’s home in
Riverside Valley. She was abducted by two women, members of Synanon cult’s Kidsnatchers group. This
puzzling event changed her life forever. Synanon Kid is a dark, thought-provoking, and mysterious book
that certainly deserves to be on your bookshelf.

3. A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess
This brilliant book is a definite proof that Anthony Burgess was ahead of his time. As you probably
already know, this masterpiece inspired Stanley Kubrick to create a cult movie with the same name.
Anyway, this novel describes a very depressing dystopian future filled with countless ultra-violent gangs
who are terrorizing the entire England. The story is focused on a violent young man named Alex who is
the leader of his dreadful gang. After one of his "adventures" goes south, Alex gets himself arrested and
while doing his time in the prison, he becomes a subject of a new behavior modification experiment.

2. Unwind by Neal Shusterman
Unwind is a truly horrifyingly beautiful dystopian novel set in America after the civil war between Pro-
Life and Pro-Choice parties. As you probably guessed by now, it’s about abortion. After the war, two
factions managed to reach an agreement that guarantees a safe life for all the babies in the country.
However, the dark side of that covenant says that if these babies start causing problems when they
grow up, they have to be sent to an organ harvesting institution.

1. Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro                                                                                                                  The innocent and rather careless beginning of this book may fool you, but you must never let your guard
down. This is a story about a young girl named Kathy who while attending a boarding school in England
finds herself in an awkward love triangle. However, as she grows older, Kathy and her friends start to realize that they are just pawns controlled by a dominant system. Their fate is being decided for them
while rebellion remains a distant dream.

My Week In Review

Turns out I couldn’t find my passport and after freaking out a little I realised I had forgotten it in the Bank. So unfortunately the bank wasn’t open till Tuesday because of Labour Day on Monday so I was kind of screwed.

I had went to the orientation for international students at Brock. This was the first time I saw the University and it was huge! And yes I got lost a lot! I made some cool friends who seem really interesting and awesome!

Went to the bank and got my passport back!! Yayyyy! Had Taco Bell which I’m kind of obsessed with right now!

Got prepared for my first day at university by buying a bunch of stationery and notebooks at the dollar store! It was way more interesting than it sounds…

Had my first set of classes (Philosophy, Sociology and Earth Science!). They were super interesting and my teachers seem super smart and super interesting! Finally got my ID and Bus Pass! Made a friend!

Had Psychology at 1. It was soooooo amazing I can not wait for the class to really start teaching! I just love Psychology so much!! Made another friend and saw a cute cat too! Also found a cool thrift store with second hand books!

I also checked out the clubs offered at my university and am deciding what to join.
