Blogger Interview With Stacy

Blogger Interview With Stacy

I want to thank Stacy for stopping by lifesfinewhine for this interview- I had a wonderful time interviewing her and I hope you guys take a minute to check out her blog which is linked below.

  1. Thanks so much for being a part of this interview. Please tell us a little about yourself and what your blog is about.

Thank you so much for having me! I’m Stacey, I’m 29 years old and I live in a place called Wiltshire in England, UK. My blog is called 29 and Feeling Fine and I use the tagline Life, Lessons and Literature as every post tends to fall into one of those three categories. Life posts are where I write about what’s going on with me currently, Lesson posts are reflective and I write about things that have happened in the past (normally things I would do differently now!) and Literature posts are about books I’ve read because I’m a huge book lover.

  1. When and why did you start blogging?

I started this blog on my 29th birthday on May 4th 2020 but it’s actually something I’ve wanted to do for years. We were in the first lockdown in the UK and I was feeling really reflective about life and things I wanted to do so I researched blog platforms that night, came up with the name and pressed publish. I started my Instagram (@staceyblogs) at the same time and it doubles as a bookstagram/blogging page. It was quite impulsive but I’m so glad I did it, it’s been so therapeutic for me to spend time outside of work doing something I enjoy and I hope I continue for a long time.

  1. What has been your favourite post to write so far?

My 30 before 30 was fun, although this year has blown a lot of those goals out of the water. I’m thinking of doing a 30 AT 30 to replace it haha! Aside from that, the posts that are most rewarding for me are ones I haven’t planned. I’ve just had an urge to get my feelings out – often at 2am when I can’t sleep. I’m quite an open book but these posts are typically the ones I get the best engagement from.

  1. When did you know you wanted to be a writer?

I have been interested in writing in different ways since I was a kid. I have always adored reading and if I could ever get my mind to concentrate for long enough I’d love to write a book. When I was a teenager my dream job was to be a Magazine Editor which later turned into a Journalist (although neither materialised sadly!) and in regards to blogging, I must have signed up to 5 different blogging platforms over the last decade but this was the only one I actually pressed publish on!

  1. I noticed you are a fellow rom-com fan and I had to ask- what are some of your favourite rom-coms?

Wow that’s tricky I have so many. I think Notting Hill is an all-time favourite of mine, I could watch it over and over. I actually went to visit some of the filming spots in Notting Hill in London a couple of years ago which was very cool. I have a picture of the bookshop on my bookshelf.

  1. Who are some of your favourite writers?

Jodi Picoult, Giovanna Fletcher, Catherine Isaacs, Lisa Jewell and Gail Honeyman are just a few who have all written wonderful books.

  1. What are some of your 2021 goals for your blog?

To be more consistent and just keep it up! Nothing makes me smile more than seeing comments under my posts or messages via my Instagram so reaching more people is definitely a big goal of mine this year.

  1. What is your least favourite thing about blogging?

That I turn 30 in 4 months and have a blog called 29 and Feeling Fine! New name suggestions are welcome – maybe I’ll be like Adele and change the name on an age-at-time-of-writing basis.

  1. What is your favourite food

Anything with cheese.

  1. What would be your dream vacation?

New York is number one on my dream list. It was always my plan to be in NYC on my 30th Birthday but sadly this won’t be possible this year. One day though!

  1. How has 2021 been treating you so far?

Lockdown 3.0 aside, it’s been okay. I got a new job which is great, especially in the times we’re in but I miss my family and friends hugely. Fingers crossed at some point this year we see some return to normality.

  1. Thanks again and please feel free to add anything you would like to share with the readers.

Thank you Pooja for having me on your blog and everyone for taking the time to read 🙂

Ask Me Something

Ask Me Something

What Is This?

In March, I did my first “ASK ME SOMETHING” post and it was so much fun. I know a lot of you enjoy these kinds of interactive posts and when I first started again back in January, Zainab a fellow blogger suggested I should do another Q&A post to catch up with everyone and answer your questions and I thought that was an amazing idea. I had been meaning to do one of these posts since then but to be honest I just got super busy with university and knew I would not have enough time to reply to everyone’s questions so I decided to wait till I had a bit more free time.

So, How Does This Work?

In case you hadn’t participated in the last Ask Me Something post or have forgotten how it works I thought I would leave the instructions here again. So, I got the idea for this from how people have that “ask me anything” box on Instagram and thought it would be a lot of fun to do on WordPress too because I have a larger following here and people are a lot more interested in connecting with one another rather than just playing the following/unfollowing. And on that note follow me on Instagram by clicking here- I promise I won’t follow/unfollow you! 😂

I thought it would be particularly fun as some of us are stuck at home and don’t have a lot going on (I’m some of us…). I thought this would be a fun way to connect, start some fun conversations, get to know one another better and just have a nice little virtual get together in the comments section!
Okay so back to how it works. All you have to do is leave a question/questions in the comments section.

After about a week I will publish a post tagging you along with your question and will give an answer to the question on the post.

Thank you!

I want to thank everyone in advance for your comment and for being a part of this! Honestly, it’s just so great that we have this awesome platform on which we can connect with each other. I always enjoy talking to you guys and you always come up with some really interesting questions.

Hey!

Hey!

I didn’t have much time today to write a post so I decided to catch up with you guys! What have you been up to? Have you seen any good shows or movies lately? Try anything new? Let me know in the comments below because I would love to find out what’s going on with you!

I’ve been watching The Office again and apparently so has everyone else right now 😂 It’s comforting since it’s so wholesome and I’ve already seen it so I know what episodes I like. I watched Scrubs for a while and it was pretty good. It probably isn’t my favourite show ever but it’s pretty funny.

I’ve also made a lot of new recipes which has been fun and I’m excited to share more recipes with you guys! I’ve also been trying to finish my essay proposals which has been a little difficult but at least I found topics.

Oh and I wanted to let everyone know that I am avoiding Instagram for a few days because of all the school work I need to deal with and Instagram/social media can be kind of distracting. But I will be back on Instagram in a few days and I will reply to everyone and respond to the comments and stuff. I have a lot of exciting stuff I want to share and a lot of makeup looks/reviews I enjoyed trying out. If you’re interested in makeup, fashion and food/recipe posts on Instagram feel free to follow me by clicking here.

What Is This?

In March, I did my first “ASK ME SOMETHING” post and it was so much fun. A lot of my readers told me they had enjoyed it and wanted me to do another one and I honestly had such a great time answering your very interesting questions so I wanted to do another one as well. I had been meaning to do another one again for so long but stuff kept coming up and I could not find the right time to schedule another post like that. However, I decided to do one today since I have a bit more free time next week.

Thank you!

I want to thank everyone in advance for your comment and for being a part of this! Honestly, it’s just so great that we have this awesome platform on which we can connect with each other. I think I may have gone crazy stuck at home if it hadn’t been for this blog. So again, thank you in advance!!

Why I Prefer WordPress Vs Social Media

WordPress Vs Social Media

I have been on WordPress for over four years now and I’ve been using social media for quite a while as well. Over the years I have found that I much rather prefer my time on WordPress and that social media can be quite toxic in some ways. I think Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest and other social platforms are fun but blogging has been the only way for me to truly express myself and actually form genuine connections with people. Here are all the reasons why I prefer WordPress over social media:

It’s more personal

From what I’ve seen on social media it seems that it’s ironically a lot less social than WordPress. The connections just feel very fake. Like people only comment very basic and non-specific comments on your posts just to get you to check out their page. One thing I absolutely love about WordPress is how it feels like a community and you’re able to have real conversations and connections with people. I feel like I’ve actually made friends here and have connected with people in a way that doesn’t really happen on social media.

The follow/unfollow game

I think this is what I hate most about social media and it’s pissing me off that people have started this on WordPress too although luckily it’s not too bad on here yet. It’s basically when someone follows you for a follow back and when you do follow them back they unfollow you after a while. It’s sad and pathetic and super unethical- also there are apps that help you find unfollowers so you can unfollow them back so like what is the point of it even? Anyway I’m very glad that the majority of bloggers don’t do that on WordPress.

I can express myself better

Since I can post much longer posts on WordPress compared to social media it’s just easier for me to express myself better here. With social media you can’t really post in the same way that you would post on WordPress. I love that I can fully express myself here and that when I do I have so many people responding with genuine comments. There’s also a lot of negativity on social media when you do express yourself which is something I don’t like. It makes me feel uncomfortable and anxious. I have had hate on WordPress but much less compared to social media.

Social media is kind of creepy and superficial

So like I mentioned Instagram and Twitter are the only social media pages I have for the blog at the moment and I’ve had some creepy encounters on there especially on Instagram. For the most part WordPress is a lot more wholesome. I also don’t like how Instagram in particular can be pretty superficial and puts too much emphasis on outer appearance. WordPress on the other hand feels like an actual community and people actually want to connect with one another. People want to actually talk about stuff, get to know one another and connect.

Your thoughts?

Are you on social media and if you are what are your thoughts on the topic? Do you prefer social media or WordPress and why? I would love to hear your opinion on this so be sure to let me know in the comments below!

Ask Me Something!

So if you’re on Instagram you’ve probably seen people do the “ask me something” on their story and it’s super fun so I thought we could try it out on WordPress too! To explain it a little better, basically you leave a question in the comments that you would like me to answer- it can be about me, about the blog or pretty much anything and I’ll answer it in a few days in a post with all the questions answered and of course I’ll tag the person who asked the question along with the question and answer! I thought it would be more fun to do on here instead of Instagram because I have a larger following here so there would be more questions and also everyone here isn’t creepy the way people are on Instagram if I’m keeping it real about why I don’t like doing it on Instagram. I also think it’s a fun way to interact with you guys as well which I always enjoy doing!

The Greatest Gift You Can Give Someone

By Ben Peters
Imagine you are at a fancy restaurant and the person sitting across from you is none other than your childhood hero. That individual starred in your favorite movies. You had a poster of them on your wall growing up. And today you follow them on Twitter and Instagram. I can guarantee your mind would be riveted on that encounter. You might feel nervous, but you wouldn’t be on your phone. You wouldn’t be daydreaming or twiddling your thumbs. And you wouldn’t be thinking about the things you have to do once you finish eating dinner.
Mindlessness happens when the body is somewhere physically but the mind is in a different place altogether—when the lights are on but nobody is home. Mindlessness has reached epidemic proportions in the age of smart phones and omnipresent technology. You’ve all seen the laughable photos of families sitting together with every individual buried in their device. That’s been all of us at some point in the past. As a world, we’re more connected than ever but ironically we feel increasingly alone. Every expert in social sciences will tell you that human beings have a primitive psychological need for love and belonging, neither of which can be felt without the vulnerability present in face-to-face interactions. This is why the controlled, sanitized, often disingenuous connections we form on social media ultimately leave us dissatisfied. Brene Brown said it best in The Gifts of Imperfection:
A deep sense of love and belonging is an irreducible need of all women, men, and children. . . Fitting in is about assessing a situation and becoming who you need to be accepted. Belonging, on the other hand, doesn’t require us to change who we are; it require us to be who we are. . . [T] rue belonging only happens when we present our authentic, imperfect selves to the world. . .
When we decide to put our phones away and be mindful in the presence of another human being, we are showing them that they are worthy of our time. Worthy of our time spent with them that we can’t spend doing anything else or ever get back. Presence is the ultimate respect, and it costs us something.
What we we’re also doing is making it possible for a genuine connection to take place. The kind of quality connection that authors like Brene Brown love to hail. But it can’t happen without mindfulness. And everybody can tell the difference.
If you are having trouble being present, ask yourself how you would behave if you were in the company of your childhood hero. Mindfulness is always possible, even if it takes some creativity on our part. What’s best of all is that when we give others our presence, they tend to return the favor. And it’s when everyone is fully present that genuine human connections can be made.
